It's interesting how some of the previous Bond films, such as DN and OP, contain lines which are not wonderful when it comes to other races. One can perhaps forgive DN considering that it was 1962, but you would think (or hope) that by 1983, a Bond film wouldn't feature a line like the curry one. I mean, I think it's a great film, however if it was ever remade, that line should certainly be dropped.
I really struggle to believe that these sort of lines can offend anybody. I mean, curry does originate from India. How it is racist is totally beyond me.

I love OP. I think it's a great film. My favourite Bond films have big and colourful plots, and villains with huge plans. That is why I much prefer OP to FYEO, among the 80's Moore films. However I also think it is just a really fun film with some great set-pieces, a really good screenplay, a fantastic theme song and a wonderful performance from Moore. Finally, OP was the first Bond film that I saw with my current partner, which is another reason why I love it.

As an avid fan of the Roger Moore era, the "rehabilitation" of Octopussy is a surprise to me. From my perspective, OP contains all the traits that anti-Roger crowd seem to pounce on. And rightfully so, because 007 zooming in on the girls cleavage is totally unacceptable. (among other various offenses...all guilty as charged)
However, OP has several great scenes, including the coolest PTS in the entire series. Sotherby Auction scene is very well suspenseful and well crafted. Bond driving his Mercedes onto the railroad track is my alltime favorite 007 moment.
It easily could been a better film especially considering it's sandwiched between much stronger and more serious John Glen films FYEO and AVTAK.
My current 10 favorite:

As for the entire movie, I agree with Barbels 5 year old comment still - but like to add, that you can see in almost every second, that the producers have been throwing around with money while NSNA looked like a very small-budget film - and it was!
