MI5 is recruiting people

I found out that MI5 & MI6 are using James Bond fame to recruit new members. eheheh
I think the real MI6 doesn't pay a good salary at all. MI6 agents would be lucky to get a flat in London. They can buy a house in small towns. MI5 site is recruiting people who can speak Arabic and middle eastern languages.

would you guys even consider joining MI5? is the job that dangerous?

I'd consider it but it would depend what sort of things id be doing and like you said, how much danger would be involved. If it was quite dangerous, id have to be payed well for it. :D

Nothing against money, but what about Queen and Country? ;)

I'd say there could be some danger involved given the languages they're looking for and the times we live in. MI5's jurisdiction is domestic intelligence, sort of like the FBI, so you would probably be looking for people operating within U.K. territory, like those guys who were busted in that bomb plot. MI6 operates in foreign countries, which is always dicier. I doubt its agents spend much time in casinos or fancy hotels, or have much need for a tux. Then again, if you were assigned to an embassy abroad, you might go to a soiree or two. But I'm afraid the spy life is more John LeCarre than Ian Fleming. You might be asked sometimes to do things that are distasteful to you. It is, after all, a kind of warfare, and stabbing someone in the back, even metaphorically, is something most human beings recoil from. But a lot of intelligence work is analysis -- connecting dots, analyzing information, evalutating trends, etc ...

Despite the negative cliches about spying and intelligence work, I would think it would be a fascinating profession.

nevertheless, I hope MI5 pays decent salary. One has to pay rent & car insurance, living cost, put kids to school. If the salary is too low, the agents might bolt for foreign intelligence service like the swiss, German.

The UK is now facing greatest threat since WWII Germany. UK immigration rules are too lax that terrorists have infiltrated its territory. MI5 arrested a terrorist cell that intended to blow up the communication hub in Britain. This hub contains critical servers, high speed network. The location is classfied of course. The terrorists somehow managed to obtain this information.

The terrorists in Iraq also obtain the names, address, telephone numbers of many SAS servicemen and high ranking general. The terrorists actually intercepted phone calls made by the families of the servicemen from UK to Iraq. It seems the terrorists had help from Pakistan intelligence division. No common desert taliban have that kind of equipments to intercept telephone calls across the sea.

MI5 will have plenty of work for the next two decades. The terrorists have abundant funding from Saudi Arabia.

There is absolutely no question about that, as far as I'm concerned.

I have to admit you've got a point. With the kind of money at the disposal of the terrorists, temptation I'm sure is always a concern.
