Bond's (Casino) Signature Visa card ...

Hi all,

my first time starting a new topic here (and only my second post in total here !). I'm currious if anyone has looked into getting Bond's "Visa Signature card" prop made up ? It seems to me it wouldn't be terribly difficult - there are tons of places online who print plastic cards , though most require a large volume (500 cards for just a touch under $500). Once they're printed i'd bet they would sell rather quickly (heck, i'd be you could sell 'em at $5 a card for a nice profit).

Here's the card i'm refering to:

moneyclip.jpg

The one problem / hurdle i see that needs to be overcome is simply the need for a full card image (squared and center) to present to the printing company. Here's a shot a similar photo of the full card:

login_visa.gif

I simply don't have the computer skill needed to get a full mocked up image created. If anyone would be interested i'd be happy to do further leg work as to where / who to do the printing.

Hope this is of interest and Kind Regards,

Billy

Where's that picture of the card from? I don't ever recall seeing it in any of the movies.

I believe that photo was from one of the Bond displays. Thsi is how people were able to get the money clip as it had no screen time. I think that it was displayed during the CR premier in the UK.

In CR, Bond hands over a credit card to the front desk at the Ocean Club. Most people believe that it is a AMEX Black (Centurian) card, others say it is a Black Visa Signature. either way, it is the only card shown in the movie.

Hi here's one post of the thread i've linked below in regard to the card(s) and clip"

"It does have screen time and it can be seen quite well especially if you have BluRay...after Bond and Vesper get off the train and before they get in the car for the "Broadchest" discussion Bond turns left and grabs a bill and takes the envelope from the porter with his left hand, the same hand he is holding the clip of money and cards. You can even zoom in on the clip..." The The Mantis (hope it's ok to quote a forum member from a previous post ?).

And here's the link to the thread (the quote is taken from page 7 of the Thread):

    Per Wikipedia:

In the 2006 film Casino Royale, James Bond walks into The Ocean Club (an exclusive Bahamian resort), goes to the concierge, requests a room without a reservation, and simply hands the concierge a black credit card. This is likely a reference to the Amex Centurion. In later times his office arranged such things prior to his arrival. Bond only handled money as a courier for other people or when collecting his gains in various casinos.

The photo is indeed from the Omega Exhibition that was held earlier this year. The Visa card is not really seen in the movie but is still cool.

The Card he hands over in the Ocean Club is almost certainly a AMEX Centurion card, although MI6 could not have arranged the trip for him because they didn't know he was going to the Bahamas.

I have looked into having Indy Magnoli replicate these cards for us but last I heard he was investigating how to make one with beveled numbers.

    Thanks

I knew you would have one ;)

Send me the picture and I will pass it along to Indy and see where he is at with these when he gets back from vacation.

Here's a quick example of a place that can print the cards - they do embossing, mag. strips, signature panels, and for this example i simply picked a 3 color front (perhaps we need 4 - the grey/ white card, blue / yellow visa symbol ; easy enough to change):

    card.jpg

Pretty cheap really - the embossing was the thing that i could find at the place i mention above and what i believe to double the cost of the cards. Still - at $2.10 a card it's certainly do-able :)

Perhaps it's best we wait to see what your guy comes up with though (obviously he's a known / trusted source of great props !) ? If members here decide to look into making this a "forum project" just let me know as i dig working this sort of thing out.

Many thanks again and Kind Regards,

Sounds good to me. Magnoli is a prop guru of course, but it certainly seems do-able as a group forum purchase. What would also be cool to do is the DAF Bond Playboy key card. Let's make it happen.

The only think im unsure about is if these online companies would be willing to print replica VISA and AMEX cards, they mau be hesitant.
  • BillythekidBillythekid Posts: 33MI6 Agent
Called the company and asked this very question this morning. They didn't have any problem at all with printing "VISA" cards with James Bond's name on them. If we can get enought people togther for this project, and have someone on the forum who could do a mock-up / graphic of the card(s) it seems that it'd be pretty simple to get done ?

    Kind Regards,

    Billy

Billythkid, is 200 the absolute minimum they will do? I can't see us getting 200 people on board...
  • BillythekidBillythekid Posts: 33MI6 Agent
    Hi Sruzgar,

you can order less - i've even submitted a quote for 50 cards, but the simple fact is the set-up is where a good deal of the $$ goes and therefore it's very little more to have twice (or four times) that number printed. For 50 cards printed they quote a total of $352.50 ... or just over $7 a card (plus a very small amount to ship to each member).

Hope this helps / is of interest. If you'd like i can even email you the company's web address ?

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Mark / All ...

i just spoke to another rep. from this company - he states they shouldn't have any problems with doing this, but would first need to see what we want. He also asked if we wanted a magnetic strip along the back ? ; they way he asked made me wonder if they're really willing to do so. I'll certainly pursue the matter with him - but since i'm very new here perhaps another member (a well known member such as Mantis ?) would be better suited for this task ? I simply don't wish to have anyone wonder if i'm on the up-and-up when it comes time to deal with $$ ;)

Again - i think this ultimately depends upon how much interest there is in the card(s).

Many thanks for your kind offer - i'd love to see anything you come up with (and many thanks in advance for your work !).

    Kind Regards,

    Billy

I can replicate the art work for any card style you want. I have been in the graphic design for the past 10 years and have worked for companies all over the world. I'd be happy to supply print ready artwork for any Bond Item.
  • sruzgarsruzgar Welcome to ScotlandPosts: 1,468MI6 Agent
Looks like we have plenty of people interested in the cards.

Clarky can you do a mockup for us, there is images on page 1 of this post and another larger one:

    http://www.winejudging.com/images/visa_hero_card_logo_250.jpg

The card number and expiration are the same as this one only with the name "James Bond" on the card.

Sounds great - a couple of quick questions. First off, will it matter to members if there is or is not a magnetic strip along the back ? and if the company wants to put something in very small print on the back of the card in regard to not being a true visa will that sit ok with members ? I'd simply prefer to have a magnetic strip and no mention of a mock-card anywhere ; as perfect as we can get, but should the company ask (or demand) i best have a feel for forum members thoughts ?

    Thanks again and Kind Regards,

    Billy

I'm cool whichever....I'd be amazed if they did a full copy card, even with a name as daft as James Bond on it, just in case someone fell for it (with a manual card machine...yes in the backward UK we still use them occasionally)...

Then again if you can get them to magnatize the strip and put Gordon Brown's details on it, i'd happily use it to donate £10million to the latest "green" cause... :s

As exact as possible would be the most desirable for me too.

If Clary is kind enough to do the mock up (any ideas about the card's back ?) , i'll contact the company again on Tuesday or Wensday and see if we can get the ball rolling.

Will this cause any trouble for the fella who makes props - and who may have started on this project himself ? I'd hate to step on any toes !

    Kind Regards

I'd like a couple at $7 thats great. Most cards have some details written on the back usually from the bank itself, if they put their details ( not a real card) on the back like its bank details that should be fine
