Does that make you wilfully ignorant of the wider connotations (beyond simply its meaning) of the word 'ignorant' on the written page? ;)

I suggest you re-read my initial post - or the explanation, especially for you, in my last post.

Saying that 'the people were ignorant' is exactly the same usage as saying that you are 'ignorant of the connotations'. I didn't call anyone ignorant in exactly the same way that you didn't. Just because you don't care how you are perceived does not mean that others should be treated with the same lack of respect.

In any case, a rather nasty tone has descended on this thread- I don't think I'll be coming back in. Seems like Tee Hee was right. I really don't think that anyone, let alone a mod, should use such aggressive and disrespectful phrases as that signature over so little a matter. I think it's appalling.

This might be a good time to lock this thread. Jen1's initial question has been answered and this thread has wandered dangerously off topic.

Let's just quit now while we're still friends. :D

Not to dredge up anything, but which football club were some of you referring to when you mentioned that you were reminded of a club that you dislike?

Rangers FC, one of the two big Glasgow football clubs (along with Celtic). The history is long and complicated, although Wikipedia have a fairly good article here about the rivalry between the two. Whenever there is a Rangers match on one will often see union flags all over the place here; whenever there is a Celtic match on there will often be Irish flags. When they play each other, well. . .

I didn't call anybody ignorant - once again you are stuck in a loop and refuse to see sense.

I haven't treated anybody with a lack of respect that didn't first disrespect me - ie. you !

Hollow words - you have said this on other occasions only to return.

Shall I reveal some of the "aggressive and disrespectful phrases" you sent to me in several PM's ? - Which I still have, BTW.
And I'm sure Tee Hee can speak for himself, his mis-interpretation of my original post has been cleared up.
