The Saint and Casino Royale

Iv just watched the introduction for "The Saint" on you tube.
What immediately struck me was the similarities to the opening credits of Casino Royale.

What do you think ?

Wow, that's uncanny! It worked there... didn't work in CR.

. . .But The Saint's graphics were clearly patterned after Maurice Binder's work for Bond, as were Daniel Kleinman's. They share the same source, but that's about it.

I disagree; I think both succeed in their own right. Moreover, I think CR are some of the most intriguing credits I've seen on screen in years. There are specific elements I don't care for, but overall I think the sequence is stunning/mesmerizing. Saul Bass would be proud.

I see similarities but I can't draw a direct correlation between the two. The Saint is fairly representative of alot graphics done in the '60s, both TV and film; indeed, I'd go so far to say that it rips-off ... er, "borrows heavily" from DN more so than CR stole from The Saint. Too, The Saint is conventional, high-contrast live action footage while CR is choreographed, complex CGI. Though there's a clear technological advantage, I think there's nonetheless enormously more thought behind CR.
