24 Season 7

Here's a trailer for Season 7. It seems that the producers have addressed the considerable criticisms launched at the show after last season. Be warned. There is one major revelation that had me going, "isn't he...?"

    Omg, I loved
    Tony Almeida
as a character. I sort of lost interest in last season, but from that trailer I can't wait. When does it start in the US?

It gives you the airdate at the end of the trailer. January sometime. I also like
Tony and was gutted when he was killed. So he's either faked his own death, had it faked for him, is somebody who has had plastic surgery to look like Tony, or is an identical twin, a zombie, or a ghost. None of which I would past the makers of 24 after last season. :))

Wow, very nice. But my only question is, that trailer was for the UK. Does it start the same date in the U.S? If so, I can't wait. I also don't remember
Tony being gutted. I thought he had a needle stabbed into his neck or something like that? Maybe someone can reconffirm for me

    For Mr. Martini:
I believe "gutted" is used in the sense of "devastated," not that Tony was treated like a herring.

    For the rest:

Interesting that Jack is being called on the carpet for torture (and Kurtwood Smith is in the cast! Yay!)--the producer of the show, Joel Surnow, is a conservative and a major fan of W., so I can imagine what position the show will take on this dicey issue. Then again, Janeane Garafalo is in the cast this season, so perhaps 24 will be "fair and balanced" after all!

I'm not sure what to think of this upcoming season. I'm afraid that Season Six may have jumped the shark; and the big revelation--
Tony coming back from the dead in the form of a villain
--seems lifted from the most hackeneyed of soap operas. Then again, if CTU really is gone and if Jack is in a completely different environment, then perhaps some new life will be injected into the show.

Of course, the big question is: will Kiefer Sutherland's drunk driving problems affect the production?

It does seem that they are going to address the torture issue. I laughed out loud though, when later on in the trailer,
Jack's new boss says, "torture him, if you have to." It just struck me as being a ridiculous line.
    .

Kurtwood Smith is a great addition to the cast. It does look like they producers are intending to cast everybody who appeared in Robocop. Smith was the main villian in that. We've had Peter Weller, Ray Wise, and that guy who got melted by those chemicals playing Jack's brother. Expect Nancy Allen and Miguel Ferrer to turn up soon.

Smith will be in 24? :o I don't watch the show all that much, but I loved Smith in Robocop, so I guess I should start watcing the show more if he's in it.

Fox has cancelled the premiere of 24 indefinitely due to the WGA strike preventing writers from providing Jack with lines like, "Dammit, don't make me torture you!" or "Tell me where the nuclear device is?"

It looks like a diet of repeats and reality TV for US viewers. I do hope they sort this out soon.

Former Bond villian Robert Carlyle has been discussing his role in 24. One aspect intrigues me.
Jack is outside the US for the first time

Hmmm.Interesting article.I always thought the movie was supposed to be a prequel to season 7and not the actual start of season 7. Be that as it may, I think season 7 starts in Jan '09.

Keifer was on a late night talk show last night. He mentioned that a 24 movie will be on tv sometime in November. The movie was filmed down in South Africa. And sounds like it will tie into season 7. This is the only article I could find.

Here's the trailer for what they are calling 24:Exile. Looks as barmy as ever, with Jack leading a tribe of kids to safety. Jack Bauer: Beyond Thunderdome.

So does anyone know if the producers are going to resume the storyline they were filming when the strike shut things down--the one with Kurtwood Smith, Jeanane Garafalo, and a woman president? Or will this be an entirely new story, with the aborted season seven episodes to emerge on some DVD in the future?

As far as I know they are continuing that season, although whether or not they have managed to keep hold of these actors beyond the episodes they already filmed, I do not know. I read somewhere that they had shut down production again recently to allow re-writes on the latter half of season 7. Apparently they were struggling to find an ending, but I've read very little press about what's coming next. I only realised that trailer was online when I saw Sky advertising the show on The Guardian website.

Thanks, JD. It seems the challenge now would be making everything look like it's happening on the same day when the actors are actually a year older! Then again, I guess if Kiefer Sutherland has put on a few pounds they could always show Jack being stung by a bee and suffering an allergic reaction. . .

And we get it on Monday. {[] Welcome back Jack.

Just watched 24: Redemption, easily the best Jack Bauer adventure in years. There are the same ol' 24 elements: nefarious forces at work in the government, Jack trying to get on with his life but being forced to do the right thing, and two torture scenes. But what makes this work is that it's both short--two hours played in real time--and very realistic. The storyline, dealing with child soldiers, is powerful and even moving, giving Redemption a timeliness and human dimension that lifts it above the standard adventure. I also thought Robert Carlyle was terrific as the spy-turned-aide worker. He plays villains and oddballs so often that it's easy to forget he's a good actor who can make every part interesting.

You know, it's fashionable to claim that Bond in QoS is basically stolen from Jason Bourne. But think about it: Bond in the film is a man who's seen his loved ones die and is trying to bury their memory, he's disrespectful of rules and authority, he's an unstoppable physical force, and he does the right thing--even good things--to the expense of what his superiors believe he should do. If there's another JB the new Bond resembles, it's Jack Bauer.

Less than two months till Day Seven. . .

I hate to say it, but Redemption left me cold. I found the fight scenes to be sluggish and the script must have taken all of 24 minutes to write. Also I could have done without the White House stuff. Too much political shenanigans sank last season. I was kind of hoping that Kiefer would train the kids to be his own personal army and bring down the warlord instead of delivering them to safety. :))

After two weeks of wanting to watch this I finally got around to it. Like JD, it left me empty. I was more interested in the actors playing the parts, like Tony Todd, Robert Caryle (former Bond Baddie, yeah) and Isaach De Bankole (another Bond baddie, yeah). Let's hope season 7 is more exciting. I'm waiting to see how Tony will be brought back from the dead (maybe Tony Todd (General Benjamin Juma) had something to do with it,).

    It's airing Monday with a double-bill. {[]
  • HardyboyHardyboy Posts: 5,906Chief of Staff
Hours 1-4 aired on Sunday and Monday nights here. It's good to see 24 back, but as the saying goes, everything old is new again: a terrorist group plotting devastation in America; the spouse of the president involved in a personal mission that could embarrass if not compromise the commander in chief; the super-secure government agency infiltrated by a mole; Jack being put on a leash, which you know he's gonna chew right through. . . Ah, well, that's what makes 24 24!

I think what's been a nice change has been the shift from the west coast to Washington, D.C. Long coats, brick houses, the monuments--it's a different look for 24, and it works. I'm not too sure about Janeane Garafolo and her grumpy office mate, though--isn't this just Chloe and Edgar revisited? But Jack's red-headed FBI gal-pal--mmmmmm! :x :p

Question: isn't there a big discontinuity between the 24: Redemption movie and this season? In the movie Jack surrenders while the president's son is alive and kicking; on this "day," though, we learn that the president's son has been dead for months and Jack has only just begun the testimony for which he was subpoenaed. Had he been on ice for months, waiting to testify? I guess so, since his burned ear is now completely healed. (Of course, the fact the movie was an afterthought, shot after this season began, doesn't factor in. 8-) ) Then again, 24's "real time" isn't exactly connected with "reality," is it?

    Roll on, Hour 5!

Nope. I noticed when Bill Buchanan was heading to the parking garage it took him ten plus minutes from the fake CTU hideout to get to the FBI parking garage. Yet, it took him just about 5 minutes to return to the hideout.

I like the way the season is starting. Jack, trying to save America, but has to work against America to save it. Interesting. As always, there's more to this. I guess around hour 12 we should find out what the bigger picture is. Good to see a Bond alum on the show to.

This confused me also. I was actually thinking that they might have had two sons and the one we saw in the first episode was still alive. I could not remember if the girlfriend was the same lady we saw in the first episode or not. I didn't think she was but my wife insists it's the same lady.

Your wife is right (but aren't wives always right?). I checked IMDb, and the only son the Taylors have is Roger, and the same actress plays "Sam" the girlfriend in both 24 and 24: Redemption. So--the timeframe is indeed whack, but I'm still enjoying the show. Hour 5 was a lot of fun, with promised deaths by poisoning, a headshot, and a live burial, and with a staged murder about to take place. All in an hour's work for Jack Bauer, I guess!

Agreed, she is seriously hot. I hope they keep her around. Must imdb her. I'm sure I've seen her in something else.

I thought the first four episodes were as good as 24 has been since the mighty Season 5 ended. Hopefully they can keep this going.

So, we know there's a leak in the FBI, but who could it be? Is it one of the "Big 3" we've seen wondering the office, sorry, their names slip me. The computer geek whos wife was stuck in the air, the "head" of the Buereau or Jeanne Garofalo? Or is it some new the show will bring in (maybe someone from a past show?)? Time will tell as the day unravels.

Yes, it is a pretty good season so far i'd say and i too like the move from L.A. to D.C. I wonder if it will stay there for seasons to come.
