I was gunna get one of those. But just thought they were a little too expensive considering the only place I could find in the UK was twice the price of anywhere else.

They are great fun and much better than the CO2 version, very accurate in function weight and look of the P99 AS. They should be though as they were developed as training aids for the real thing. I recommend getting one without a doubt.

hmm hard to tell but I wouldn't put it past them to sell this under the vcra act.

It's a no brainer really. If it looks like the real thing (RIF), then it's not legal unless it's painted a bright colour. The only exception is if you're a member of a club for paintball or airsoft.

You could always chance it, as it's not like you'd be taking it outside. However, you run the risk, as neighbours may see it and panic.

    Regards,
    Wilde -{

apart from the gun metal black version, you could get the P99 in bright blue finish - this would instantly identify them as 'trainers'

I have one in black in the UK.
Its a paintball marker, NOT airsoft, so UKARA registration should not apply. It falls under the same classification as an airpistol, not airsoft.

Ahh yes - definitely not an Airsoft!!
You could load paintballs, rubberballs and cal.43 pepperballs!

This gun is NOT a toy!

Yes, the VCRA applies to anything that is remotely realistic looking, but they shouldnt need UKARA registration, as they are paintball, not airsoft, thus fall under airGUN regulations, not airSOFT.

Yep, its a proper tactical training pistol.

I have the Desert Eagle ram and the T68 Ram shotgun also.

    All slightly scary!

    cheers for the feedback guys.

personally i find the law on these things totally bewildering. airsoft stuff comes under the VCRA but a paintball marker doesn't, yet they both can look identical to a real firearm.

AND i can't put either on my FAC. :o :s this, imo, is totally f@!ing stupid. i would very happily get anything put on my FAC, but becuase neither airsoft or paintball marker is a true firearm i can't, and yet if i went walking down the street with either airsoft, paintball marker or airgun, i would be charged with a firearm offence.

uk gun laws are so messed up and pathetically worthless and have virtually bugger all effect on gun crime.

oh hang on, heres an idea, we'll paint all toy guns bright blue, yeah that'll stop criminals from using them to hold banks up, cos they'll never think about buying a can of black paint will they? I MEAN COME ON, WHAT **** IDIOT THOUGHT OF THAT ONE?!

this stoopid half arsed country real is going to feckin pieces. god-f@!kin-dammit! X-(

Geff, I think exactly the same.

Basically, anything that looks remotely real falls under the VCRA bill. RIF's or IF's basically classify anything that could be mistaken for a firearm, whether its based on a real one or not. Its basically to stop dumbass scallies in central london or manchester getting shot, running round with fake guns.

Only airsoft RIF's requires UKARA registration. Airgun RIF's just require you to make a face to face purchase with ID, and being 18+. Most airsoft or airgun traders clearly show what you can / cant buy on their websites. Internet sales are all but gone, appart from spare parts and accessories.

You could buy a 6mm airsoft MP5, but only if you had UKARA:
    http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?products_id=2017

However, you could walk into any airgun dealer and buy an identical 4.5mm airgun version without UKARA:
    http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/umarex-heckler-koch-mp5-k-pdw/

The only difference is the power and diameter of ammunition. The 4.5mm airgun version is actually more powerful, and capable of inflicting some injury, yet its the one that doesnt require any formal registration like the 6mm airsoft skirmishers.

What a stupid system....... I hate it, and i want to go live in Canada where everything is normal and you can have proper guns.

It's all to do with concealment. Join the TA, they'll give you a good side-arm. Actually, why do I get the impression that you're in that too? :))
