Good news, i'd like to pursue this further, but would always be happier if we knew who the original maker was, for obvious copyright reasons.

kittlemier, i've replied to ur email. Please be good enough to acknowledge (as u publically challenged simon and myself above) and where can i see the rest of the email u mention above re: getting magnoli to copy other items?....

Haven't gotten a response here or in my email.

That's the whole message. I sent him the same picture about three months ago around the time it started looking doubtful you guys were going to have the pants done.

    Well we have some good news and some bad news;

firstly the bad news....the shirtmaker won't bude so the price of a fully authentic matched up shirt is going to be $340

the price of a standard (ie the yolk may not line up etc...pls see above) will remain $300...

the good news is we're now ready to take final orders and cash....

if you haven't sent simon ur measurments then the website should be up and running again..

a few of you have requested speical measurements and simon will get back to you individually

the best form of payment is paypal to

    paulwynn86@hotmail.co.uk

alternatively if u must pay in cash/cheque/etc pls pm me directly and i'll send you details.

i hope it's been worth the wait, and having sene the new trailor, i think the CR clothing is somehow all the more special and unique...

finally remember this is going to be a one off run of shirts, so if you pass now there is no guarantee there will ever be any more ORIGINAL SHIRTS MADE BY THE ACTUAL SHIRTMAKER IN THE ACTUAL MEGA QUALITY FABRIC....

    cheers paul

Good going, that's great news for everyone, hope you all enjoy your CR shirts.

I can just see it now, everyone posting a video on youtube with their shirt, chasing a poor soul in a construction area.

I am afraid I might have to pull out, but I am still considering. I don't want to spend $300 on something that isn't done as well as it can be, and then try and be roped in to pay an extra $40 to have it done correctly. If I spend $300, knowing there is another version that is correctly done out there, that irks me, and it upsets me even more that $40 is tacked on to obtain the correct one. That is not right. Not to sound rude, I know you guys have worked extremely hard and put in lots of time, so there are strong feelings here, but it coincidentally seems if anyone else besides you guys try to take on other projects or make their own replicas, they are committing copyright infringement. If people want to buy their own fabric and dye it and make stencils to replicate the fabric of the shirt for themselves, they can do it. There is nothing wrong with that. The problem is when you try and pass it off as the actual thing. I am sure the company or manufacturer of the original fabric has better things to do than worry about some people making similar looking fabric, remaining constantly on the lookout so they can prosecute them. Theres a little bit of paranoia running rampant with some members on this board.

I don't recall anyone actually saying that the material suppliers would sue if it was copied, they very well might, but this isn't a concern for Paul as his material is legit and from them and will only ever be available from Paul. I daresay copies will surface once these go out to people, but who cares? I for one don't want a copy, I want the real deal. There is no paranoia here, and it's hardly running rampant is it. And no other projects are being threatened by those involved, if you want to make a copy of this shirt, go for it and good for you, no one is stopping you at all.

No one was "excited" to pay $40 more but in the collecting world of James Bond we have three levels it seems:

    Sort of Looks Like It
    Almost Right
    Spot On

I will tell you I have pieces in my collection that fall into ALL three of the above categories but if the opportunity arises to hit the Spot On level I will go for it every time!

I have no problem sending the money. However, I'd like to know how long it will take for delivery of the shirt once payment is made. Been in the waiting, waiting, waiting mode and have been burned before. So if you'll give us a reasonable delivery date, and save the pie in the sky optimism, that would go a long way to alay my fears.

well just when I thought i'd seen all the emotive comments and felt comfortable trying to move to the next stage, I hastily and prematurly suggested payment methods.

Without pointing out the obvious; POSTAGE.

My rather lame excuse is that I was dissappointed to see the thread drift onto the 2nd page, and had given up negotiating with the shirtmaker....so rather late in the day (for me) I wrote that reply.

Clearly we can't have a fixed price inclusive of postage. Someone in London should not pay the same as someone in Illinois, USA.

We mentioned we were hoping to do bulk transfers to US which Simon or I would post on at minimum domestic charge.

    That's still the plan.

But I guess this will be met by a torrent of outrage at yet another unforeseen and unjustifiable cost addition?....I hope not.

Therefore, to minimise the number of transactions (for those who have sent payments already) and in respect of DG's concerns about being burned waiting for a bus, I've decided to cancel all payments made thus far and go back to the previous state.

Ie please don't send any payments yet.

At least until we can get firm delivery dates from the shirtmaker.

As they don't just make DG's shirt for a living, I expect them to take a while considering this request.

Apols to all who have tried to help move this along, and sympathetic feelings to those who feel the extra $40 is a shirtbutton too far and are declaring themselves out.

    Cheers Paul

Ok, I can understand this and see your point. Wanting to get the exact same shirt down to the last detail is a reasonable argument, especially for a hardcore collector. But what about those of us chumps who can't afford the spot on one anymore? Any possibility of someone doing an almost right one for a more reasonable price so those of us who have expressed interest have an opportunity to get one? I wouldn't mind paying $75 or $100 for a regular fitted short sleeve button down shirt of the same fabric sans all the details.

Please don't get me wrong, I definitely want this project expedited. Furthermore, I am a strong proponent of what you have tried to accomplish with this shirt. However, you no doubt realize that this project has taken an exeedingly long time to get to this point. What I fear is that we will be sitting down to see QOS and still without the venerable Madagascar shirt after having ponied up the money.

The Goldeneye device is a perfect example of what I am talking about. It just keeps going on and on with no end in sight. Since you put the money up for the shirts, you have to hold the shirtmaker's feet to the fire. And since we are buying from you, we have to hold your feet to the fire. Since you are, as I understand, a business man, I'm sure you can understand my perspective.

In my line of work, you never front the money. Only suckers do that. Since we are all friends here, I have no problem fronting the money in this instance, but I do need assurances. I hope you understand.

I know what you're saying here but at the retail price, $75 wouldn't even cover the price of this fabric. $100 might not for larger sizes.

Please, not another discussion for a regular fitted shirt. This all is getting more and more complicated and we already have 2 options for the making of the shirt.

I am sure, that Paul is getting crosseyed :s

I am sure, that he won't agree, but if he would, we'd have requests about warranty for the standard fitted shirts, questions, if the pattern matches correctly with standard shirts, how large the collar is and so on and so on.

And there is still the issue with standard sizes on then-standard-fitted-shirts, which burries great trouble as standard sizes vary all over the world. I'd just recall the standard sizes on the GP Casino Royale trunks.

Suppose, Paul, that by "cancelling" payments you mean refunding to Paypal - when should I expect to see the credit on my Paypal statement - can only see the original debit on there at this time.

The issue has very little to with wether Paul is a gentlemen or not. I think we can all agree that he is indeed a fine gentlemen. The issue is not so much if the shirts will be deliverd, but rather when the shirts will be delivered. I think we are entitled to know that if we put down our money today, will it take one month, six months, or two years to get our shirts to be delivered. It's a simple question to ask the shirtmaker. It goes like this: "XYZ Shirtmaker, once I give you my bulk payment for X number of shirts, how long will it take for delivery of said shirts?" Subsequently, Paul then projects how long it will take to deliver the shirts to the customer once he has the shirts. Those two figures are added together and you have a projected delivery date.

If Paul delivers early, well then he's a superstar. If he delivers a little behind schedule then no big deal, after all we are not communists.

We are waiting on the next shirt to be made so we can make sure that everything is lining up as expected. Once this is confirmed we shuld be able to provide estimated dates of when yo will have your shirt.

Im confident that it will not take more than a month!

I understand your frustration Bondtoys, and I am not trying to incite a riot, I am just trying to see if there are any other avenues open in the future for a less involved shirt for those who cant commit to the current price. My understanding as to why the price is what it is and not say $150, is because the same tailors who are making the shirts are the same ones who made them for Craig in Casino. That is the big draw is it not? Correct me if I am wrong.
I am throwing it out there as a future suggestion, why not sell the leftover fabric and let someone like Indy make some shirts so the average collector can buy one? Since you guys own the fabric, isn't it up to you to do what you want with it now? If you wanted to make tablecloths out of it and sell them, you could right? So why not make some non-Craig-tailor shirts? Would those of you who are buying the one for $340 care if there were ones out there that weren't the exact shirt reproduction made by the original tailors? I know some of you hardcore collectors care that the original tailor is making them, but I honestly could care less. As long as the shirt is made correctly from the same fabric, does it matter who is making them?

    Hello MisterMan57,

    not frustrated at all!
I am only trying to get into Pauls head and heart and I would assume, that after all he and his gang went thru to keep this project still living, he would not be in the mood to make things more complicated for the moment and he may not care too much about, what to do, when this all has been finished.

I can say, that even a regular-fitted shirt will be done by a different tailor for 50% of the US$ 340,--, I would not buy it.

It's like a genuine Rolex case with a fake dial and a quartz movement inside.

Once again, this will be my most expensive shirt ever and if someone tells my wife, I'll kill him (or will my wife kill me afer she hears 8-)) and I fully accept, that someone finds it too much money for it and is asking for alternatives.
This thread is now over 50 pages and I am trying to make things as easy as possible from my side.

Oh yes. If this was to become a huge production made thing and not a small run then I certainly wouldn't be as interested in the shirt, as I'm sure many other members would agree. It's the very very small limited run and exclusivity that is drawing me to buy this shirt. And it is coming soon too. Great stuff!!!!!!

The only thing though is that by having such a small run at such a high cost, it eliminated a lot of people from being able to participate in this project that normally would have. If the price of this shirt had went any higher, I would have probably had to bow out as well. For me, it doesn't matter either way whether this shirt is limited like it is, or mass produced, but that's just my opinion. I can't wait to get the final product when it's completed though!
