Official Goldeneye Device Sign Up

(Posting this for a friend....email him at shadowrunner@home.nl ):

Looks like a lot of people who wrote me in the past 2 years about wanting to be added to the list, have lost interest in a HERO one with machined aluminium and brass goldplated keys. So, it might be a good idea to offer a cheaper version as well, where the metal parts will be replace with resin. Pricetag will probably be around 100-125 EURO.

A lot of you have been following this thread which has been going on for almost 2 years. Both the aim for perfection and my turbulant 2006/2007 with 2 international moves privides some delays. Now me and Russ are ready to finish up this project and give you Bond fans what you have been craving for for such a long time.

here's a pic of the real one followed by 2 pics of the semi-finished prototype me and Russ did:

goldeneye.jpg

goldeneye%20001.jpg

goldeneye%20002.jpg

This will most likely be a one time run, once completed there will be almost definately no other, so it will be now or probably never.

Features per device:
-Machined aluminium casing and batterycover, based on measurements taken from the original
-3 lasercut acrylic layers
-Blank CD inside
-Pressure cast resin diamond
-4 working bright LED's
-2 goldplated vacuumcast brass keys, molded from an original

If you want to be added to the list, just reply to this thread and i will start the list. Please be advised that i will be asking for a partial payment upfront for 2 reasons.
1)this project will cost a ****load of money to do
2)to disencourage people who jump in and say:"me want, me want" and dissapear when the time comes to pay up, leaving me with a wall of goldeneye devices.

After taking into account the money this huge project will cost, the crapload of hours spent on this project the following price. Please note that the price is in EUROS as i live in the Netherlands and the dollar is not to solid at the moment.

One Goldeneye device with 2 goldplated keys will be 250-300 Euros (depends on how many people will buy one) plus 23 euros for insured shipping with a tracking number. In order to partially cover my costs, i will probably ask for 125 euro upfront. will probably do a total of about 30 of these.

If you have questions, please email me at shadowrunner@home.nl

Looks great, but unfortunately I'm saving my money for the Madagascar shirt. If there's a version that comes after the cheaper version, then maybe I can afford it.{[]

I really would like one of these but I am going to have a go at making it myself. It is very very nice. And would be a fantastic edition to anyones collection.

Ok is this Goldeneye device dead in the water whats the verdict please let everyone know...

Also I have some spare money and I was actually going to put my name down for one ....but theres no news of it or any progress by the looks of it

So I might just result in making a few of these for myself and anyone else who was hoping for one but has been disapointed with the progress of its making...

I do appologise if I have missed something like another topic showing progress or feedback...

please if anyone knows whats happening with this props ... let me know

    Hi everybody!
Apparently there are some delays in the project. This is the current status of the project per Marc's email dated 6/23/2008

-supposed to get a wax casting of the key last week for approval (made a new one, which looked better than the first proto), it should arrive this week. When i approve the key, they can start casting them and i also found a place nearby that can do the plating for me.

-I am currently waiting on amber dye from the US, i tried mixing it myself, but wasn't satisfied with the results.

-I have sent a set of acrylic sheets to the machinist so he can start on the final approved aluminum pieces.

I know it is taking longer than planned, but i want to make sure this replica will be all it deserves to be so i made some improvements to it.

    cheers,
    Marc
I will try to keep everyone updated on the progress of the project.

Of course the original prop was made of wood, so it looks like your replica will be better than the real thing! :)

yes I did hear that somewere before reading emtiem's comment

the Goldeneye device frame was made from wood with a clear acrylic insert... which house the orange diamond shape with the disc in the centre..

Also I was told from a source that after the man with the golden gun .. Christopher Lee carried a wooden Golden Gun as a promotional prop long after the film and Christopher lee openly admited on a chat show interview that some-one he knew made him this wooden replica as the original went back to the film makers... and he pulled the wooden Golden gun from his jacket .. and he suposedly still has it.. the wooden golden gun was said to be so perfect it was indistinguishable from the real prop it looked like the real thing... would love to see a picture of it at some point.
I was told this by Brian Smith of Bond & Beyond.com a very very knowledgable expert and fellow Scottish Bond fan.. I think he said it was on a terry Wogan chat show in the late 70's

    Wood?

That's right- I've seen it in one of the Bond exhibitions in London: it's a fairly rough-looking prop: the wood grain even shows through the silver paint! Just shows what you can get away with... :)
  • scaramangasgoldengunscaramangasgoldengun ScotlandPosts: 1,388MI6 Agent
yes emtiem I know what you mean.... when I saw it on display a few years ago.... I am going to make a replica soon...

I started :)) when i read your comment... yes the wood grain was showing.... i remember

I am looking forward to this new replica but might have a go at one myself... also

Anybody got any updates on this project?
I had sent Marc several emails but have not heard back at all. Is Russ doing the machining as we speak or is it done? Anyone got any recent info they can share? Any news is news.

  • 037 Scaramanga037 Scaramanga FloridaPosts: 160MI6 Agent
    HI Kan,

i guess we have been left in the dark, i also emailed Marc weeks ago, and to the day have not heard anything from him, i'm going to contact paypal and see if i can get a refund, it might be impossible now becasue it has been so long but i'll try.

if you hear anything please let me know, i'm surprised Russ hasn't responded to this post since the project was between both of them.

Looks like we are the only two who signed up for these. I thought there were others here.
I really don't mind the wait, but I really like some updates every now and then - especially that we had paid up back in February. If we had not paid it would be a different story.

Just waiting for Russ to finish the outer aluminum casing and get them to Marc and then we should be done soon.
The only missing parts are these aluminum casings.

Wow how do you get the original measurements. I was wondering what is the length, width and angle around the edge of the keycard, and the diameter of the crystal.

I provided Marc with all the necessary dimensions based on screen captures and available photos.

Although there have been numerous delays...the prototype produced is extremly accurate!!!

Hopefully, Marc & Russ can finish this project and provide us all with fine replicas.

Due to my agreement with Marc, who is producing this replica, I cannot provide information regarding measurements.
