You are not my friend anymore! :)) :))

Seriously, congrats to the Giants; while I'm a little disappointed for my home team, the Pats looked like a very ordinary club and really didn't deserve to win the game.

On the bright side, now I won't have to worry about Boston burning to the ground tonight or having to contend with mass lunacy at work. Gotta try to find the positives in this...

Great game by the New York Giants {[]

They played with one hell of a lot of heart, and deserve the victory. Congratulations to them and their fans!

    :)) :)) :)) :))

I'm crying over here! C'mon, man...you know I had to root for my home state. We're better than that to kill a friendship.. :))

My sister's kids in Boston are P.O.'ed big time to the outcome...my phone call to them only lasted 30 seconds.

Says the man who doesn't even live in New York anymore. {:)

:)) I feel their pain, but only a little bit. In all seriousness, our friendship is safe; neither I or my brother are big football fans (or baseball or basketball for that matter) so we're pretty neutral to the whole thing. It's not like Italy losing the World Cup or anything like that. That would have really set the "rubbernecker" off.

I'm going to be hoarse tomorrow, but damn if that wasn't the most intense game of football I've ever seen. I was a supporter of both teams before the game, but as it started, I realized I just had to root for the Giants. And I'm glad I did!

I haven't watched football in years, but when I did follow the game, it was with a special interest in the exploits of Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms. I didn't turn on the Super Bowl until the middle of the third quarter on Sunday, but once I did, I couldn't stop watching. It was like watching the Giants of old. They kicked some serious ass and I love to see a team like the Pats humbled (back when I watched football, it was San Francisco).

not really a football fan here, but I am pleased that the Giants won. This means Dad'll be happy when I see him this weekend! :D

to be honest, I spent most of the last quarter yelling at the commentators to shut up and put HOUSE on...;)

I was so happy to see the Giants win. I'm not a Giants fan but was rooting for them along with most of America I think. New England has really become the hated team of arrogant cheaters. I was thrilled to see them beat like this on the verge of going undefeated. And of course we had Belichick being a jerk again and leaving the field early. I hope he is fined for that. I'm wondering what they're going to do with all the copies of the 19-0 book that was supposedly written and on pre-order. Too funny. :))

By the way, who do you root for? No matter, they were probably one of the victims of America's most hated team of arrogant cheaters :v

Spec, if we were talking European/American soccer, it's more than likely that you'd run CIRCLES around me :)) on that topic but one thing that I do know is Bill Belichick and his penchant for being a sore loser.

He's a great Xs & Os coach - I can't take that from him but his people skills are sorely lacking and as he gets older, I really don't think that'll change. I can't say that all of the Pats players are a reflection of their coach but quite a few are. For most of the season, this team not only pummelled their opponents...they added salt to the wound to increase the pain that they were inflicting by putting up NBA numbers on the scoreboard. All of those unecessary blowouts the Patriots put to others, after most times 3 quarters of play that pretty much insured them victory, is pretty classless... 8-)

Just because he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar for cheating, he decided to have his tantrum war against everyone on his schedule...but he's the one that got busted... right. 8-)

The waning moments of the SB, Belichick's just too alert of a coach not to know that there was time still on that clock; that half-congrats that he gave Coughlin didn't seem genuine in the least but he's always tried to play by his own rules anyway. He didn't even have the courtesy to return to the sidelines until the end.

I've rooted for the Pats in past years (Going back as far as Steve Grogan-btw bring back the old unis!) but lately they've seemed to sink in character which goes a long way with many football players & fans.

Bill Parcells was/is a harda$$ when he coached them back in the day but never, during his tenor, did they act like jerks as they do now. He wouldn't stand for that.

Another thing that perhaps hurt the Patriots chances of making history, Belichick has a habit of burning his players out before the regular season's over; Cleveland, NY Jets & now NE...

Don't even get me started on the media's MANLOVE for Brady... ESPN in particular. :s
I don't mind a winner, just have a little decency when you play.

You know why the Pats lost? I'll tell you: it's all Gisele's fault. Poor Tom Brady was exhausted from carrying her bags around after shopping all day.

Seriously though, I can understand the hate towards Belichick; he doesn't exactly endear himself to the media or the league. On the other hand, I never bought into the notion that the Pats (or any other team) should take it easy on an opponent when the score ramps up. They're all professional athletes and are very very well paid to do what they do; if they can't take that kind of heat, then they shouldn't be on the field. It shouldn't be a team's job to make their opponents look good.

I also think most of the players on the team got a bum rap. All season long, they refrained from trash talking their opponents and as far as I can tell conducted themselves pretty positively off the field, avoiding idiotic comments like those made by Anthony Smith or unsavory conduct like Michael Vick.

Like I said before, I'm not much of a football fan so most of this discussion is lost on me. In the end though I guess that old saying is true: everybody loves a winner, but nobody likes it when you win too much.

And if you can't agree with that, then I offer up this little piece of wisdom from pro wrestling legend (and longtime New York resident) Luscious Johnny Valiant instead: Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat!

Or, as pro wrestler Luscious Johnny Valiant used to say: Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat.

People don't hate the Pats per se, but they rejoiced that Belichick lost. Not the Pats as much...him. No one likes Bill and his grungy hoodies much.

As who do you know that likes to get their butts handed to them so voraciously professional or not? Chick didn't even consider putting second string players in the game when it was 85-3 their way. I mean that you're right to a point, Tony but it's human to take something like that personally rich or not...

And the wrestling reference is more acceptable than in the NFL when it comes to cheating. I always rooted for the bad guys growing up. :D

I understand that Rogue but tell me, did the Chicago Bears go easy on the Pats in that Superbowl when they humiliated them 46-10? It goes both ways; the Pats are hardly the first team to run up the points and quite frankly, nobody seemed to mind when they were the doorstops of the NFL.

The bad guys were always the coolest. Baron Mikel Scicluna ruled, although I always was more of a Bruno Sammartino fan.

My friend...I lost money on that game. I just knew that the Pats were going to pull an upset of sorts. I clearly recall getting a little "rubbernecked" myself as my then girlfriend tried to calm me down. The Bears were just unstoppable then. :))
But in the 80s, most of the SBs were blowouts anyway.

I am a Colts fan so you know my feelings about the Pats. I'm still upset we left them off the hook during the season. We had that game and then gave up 14 points in the final 7 minutes. But none of that matters now. The Super Bowl made everything right again in the NFL. I don't dislike a team just because they win a lot of games. The record didn't have much to do with my feelings on the Pats. I am just sick of their arrogant coach and quarterback and especially Belichick's bad attitude. Not to mention the whole spygate cheating scandal. They can say that everyone does it all they want but no one else has been caught. I also heard Giants players claiming that some members of the Pats had invited them to their Super Bowl celebration parties BEFORE the game had even been played. Talk about arogance. The Pats looked like a team that expected to win and the Giants just beat them down. Good prevailing over evil as far as I'm concerned. B-)

I'm not a big fan of American football, but the final throw that Manning threw was absolutely extraordinary. :o I could never hope to do that in a million years. :D
