Just had a clearout..

I have just got rid of all but 3 of my James Bond DVDs.

I have kept -
Casino Royale (because it is the most recent and I really like it)

TWINE (because my Wife likes it)

OHMSS (because incredibly I only watched it for the first time recently and really liked it!)

I have done this because I love the Bond movies but at 38 I feel jaded and (dare I say it) bored of watching them. I'm thinking I might take a break of say, 5 years or so before I watch them again. See if I can recapture some of the old excitement and maybe get a kick out of them coming on the telly again!

Anyone else done this at any time?

Why get rid of them though? I mean, I understand that you might not have the space, but why not put them in a closet and simply not watch them for the next five years?

Anyway, I'm in an opposite situation. I am attempting to get all of the Bond films; I now own all of them save for CR'67, LTK and TND. :D

Well.. I know this is going to sound stupid but if they are in the house I get tempted to look at one and then wish I hadn't because I find I virtually know the dialogue off by heart!

Maybe I need more self control...8-)

Only virtually? You're obviously not watching them enough then! :D

Just got rid of all 21 official Bond DVDs.....

and replaced them with all the Ultimate Edition ones, no doubt the same exercise will occur again
when i finally know if i buy a Blue Ray Player.
I do agree that some films are a bit naff when you rewatch them over and over again, yet that's part of the charm i think, looking at other nuances of the acting, setting, clothes etc. gives me more pleasure when rewatching because i don't have to pay much attention to plot or dialogue.

I tend to enjoy revisiting each film every once and a while, and it's neat to see what new details you pick up on.

I revisited AVTAK the other night. I'm still hunting for that elusive explanation as to why Bond and Tibbit are investigating Zorin's horseracing to figure out if he is indeed selling technological secrets to the Soviets. ?:)

I recently sold all four of the UE sets to maintain a few bills. Seeing as there are vhs tapes, older dvd versions, crates of books, television airings etc, I can always get these newies back at some juncture. Walk into ANY used movie exchange and I dare you not to see one.

I hope this doesn't lessen me as a man in the eyes of fellow AJBers.

I know what you mean words...

I got bored with Bond recently, and the Craig reboot aided that in some ways, because it has cut the invisible thread that ran throughout the series. But I enjoyed YOLT recently.

Have you got NSNA, Dan Same? Will you get Blofeld Cat's special edition with the Barry soundtrack?

I have indeed got NSNA. I was quite excited about getting it when I was in Brunei last year as I can't find it anywhere in Australia. Regarding Blofeld Cat's special edition; that will have to wait. There are a few other films (not just Bond) which are a higher priority at the moment.

I have the Ultimate Edition DVD's and also the videos!! goodness the videos really are outdated nowadays. :D

That's one of the reasons I bought the DVD's and to be "modern"! :p

Hardly. Been there, done that. Doesn't lessen anyone as a fan or a man just because circumstances change.

I must admit, I thought I was going out on a limb with this particuler thread. I'm glad to find people aren't castigating me for doing this!

    No worries words.
So you dumped some movies because you felt you needed to for some reason or another. We are all different points in life, no big deal.

Personally, my DVD collection is sitting on a book case collecting dust. I'll probably be a year of so until I get the urge to throw a Bond film in and watch it again. Some find value in merely owning the series, others find value in watching them for a bit and re-selling them. There's no right or wrong there. There's just what is right for the individual.

I have all of the video but DN. iv considered getting it just to complete the picture. :D That was a deep ambition of mine a few years ago. :D

More recently as my fandom has waned in past years (i admit here that i am a Doctor Who convert! ;%) I have now considered selling my videos in favour of getting some extra money together and buying the DVD boxset. But I wonder to do this whether I should buy DN so that I can sell the whole set, minus CR. :#
    Relax darling, I'm on top of the situation -{
