As goes the devoted Bond fan, so goes Bond himself...
Or then appears Bond's Straight to Video Adventures ) :007).
That would be terrible. The idea of Bond being resigned to 'straight to video' is absolutely horrifying.
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
Should this Bond be involved in a dog fight so early on? It took five films for Sean's 007 to fly an autogyro. It's implicit that he wouldn't have those skills in FRWL, so early on. Likewise, you can sort of buy his car/boat heroics in DAF and LALD when he's had years of experience...
Will give the official trailer a miss when it comes out in 3 months. That tends to give too much away, esp for a Bond fan who's been following it and can piece together the entire plot from that.

Well, it fits in with his updated dossier*, which certainly would have given him the requisite years of experience: "During further training with 030 SFU, Cdr. Bond earned certifications for the operation of assault helicopters, Harrier-class jets, fixed-wing aircraft, hovercraft, marine assault vehicles, armored vehicles, and other craft."
I don't think a DC3 would be beyond him at the tender age of 39 or 40
I'm glad they're having him do such stuff at this point in his '00' career---to do otherwise would surely beg criticism for being too boring, or God knows what else. At least the Almighty Jason BourneTM didn't manage to dogfight in a classic transport/passenger aircraft! B-)

A DC-3 isn't exactly what i would consider jumping into for a dogfight. Most likely an escape of some sort that becomes complicated when fighter planes arrive. Also if you recall most of Connery's films revolved around Flemming's novels, where you wont find a whole lot of action anyway. Regardless, I think this will be a great scene and it adds a new element to the Bond film that we haven't really seen before.

Yes, that's very probably a given. One probably wouldn't use a portable single-shot rifle to take down a helicopter, as in FRWL, if one had a choice... :007) Bond is a master of what the military refers to as 'field expediency'---using what one has at the time

My Dad, rest his soul, spent alot of time in DC-3's (C-47) during WWII and always said that they were the toughest airplane ever built and that's why there are so many of them still around and in use. It should be interesting to see how Bond survives being attacked by a fighter plane while at the controls of a DC-3. The fighter plane appears to be some sort of prop driven aircraft. Anyone here have any info on what it is?
Saw the trailer prior to the Hancock film.
Also the Dark Knight trailer.

this is Timothy Dalton style in LTKill. "A Farwell to arms". Much earlier precedent.

Is the teaser trailer on-line at all?
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope
No joke, everything looks good to me. I can't wait. There is a lot of good buzz for this film. The only thing I worry about is that the Bond films are too like Bourne. What with the passports being frozen, the gritty action sequences, being blonde etc. I feel like Bond is going Bourne...but then again, the essential Bond elements seem to be there, and in the end Bond completely outweighs Bourne in my book. I am very much looking forward to the QOS release, which IMO comes far too late for us Kiwis on 27 November. I won't be logging on here for at least three weeks because I wont want any spoilers.
Yes we need to avoid 'Americanising' Bond, just because Bourne was a commercial and artistic success.
That's why a return to a few old traditions ie gunbarrel, in-film Bond theme etc, need to return for this movie. Just to establish it is still the British agent we're all familiar with.
I've just seen the trailer on a rather large Hi-Def TV and it looked far more impressive than it did on my PC. {[] I'm almost excited by QOS. Not quite, but getting there.

I like what they did with CR, I can take or leave the gun barrel at this point, having a really good Bond film is much more important IMO.
I imagine QOS will have some sort of gun barrel, but like CR maybe not exactly the old one. Whatevs.
They need the gunbarrel sequence, don't tell me there was any discussion about removing that from Babs or Mike!!! Yeah, no need to Americanize Bond, no need at all. Although a good Bond movie is what counts, gunbarrel sequences and the like are what make good Bond movies. They may not have been essential at the beginning, but they have grown to be, everyone expects a gunbarrel sequence...don't they?
I hope the gunbarrel makes a re-appearance for the movie and also for trailer 2. I can live without Q and Moneypenny but feel that the gunbarrel should never go. It has become such a part of the Bond culture, not just in the movies but also on posters and other merchendise. It is instantly recognisable all over the world and should be put back in for QOS.

I saw it last night at the cinema (went and saw Hancock) and I have to say, the trailer looks so much better. In fact there were a few shots that I didn't even notice on my PC.
BTW, the two black and white screen shots we see, (the one of vesper underwater and the one of Craig cocking a gun) do you think they are actually shown together as some sort of flash back to CR? It would make sense, and could be part of the PTS. (however with the PTS in CR being black and white, they prob won't copy this?)
I just don't know...but I'm certainly getting very excited

Well, I'm a bit late to this party as I've only just seen the trailer today, but this trailer has whet my appetite. The action looks exciting and the drama looks interesting. I look forward to seeing the film very much - a pity that in South Africa we have to wait an extra 3 weeks for the film!

Apparently, Sony Pictures Netherlands has announced that the full QoS trailer will be revealed on 11th September...

Mmm, thanks for the news Loff.
I am not sure that I will want to see the 2nd "full" trailer as it might just give too much away. I recall having a conversation with NP who reminded me that the full trailer for CR included Vesper's death and the Venice house collapsing. TMI.
On second thoughts though, it's a new Bond clip. Am I really gonna ignore it for long?
