Bond Convention

Is there ever going to be a bond convention? sort of like memorabillia where there are special guests like Richard Kiel, Shirley Eaton and mercandise to buy from stools.

I would make a great turn out and a good time for stars to re-unit.

Has there ever been one before?

When I was a member of the James Bond Fan Club in the 1980s and 1990s they held conventions in and around London, which were great.

Since Ross hendry and Graham Rye have left the Fanc Club, these events seem to have been scaled down somewhat. I would love to see David Black, the current chairman, organise an event such as this and I feel sure it would be well attended.

    Okay.

    Here's what I'm thinking:

1 Sat, Aug 20, 2011 New Orleans 4:00 P
2 Sun, Aug 21 At Sea
    3 Mon, Aug 22 Key West 10:00 A 6:00 P
    4 Tue, Aug 23 Bahamas/Freeport 8:00 A 5:00 P
    5 Wed, Aug 24 Nassau 7:00 A 5:00 P
6 Thu, Aug 25 At Sea
7 Fri, Aug 26 At Sea
    8 Sat, Aug 27, 2011 New Orleans 8:00 A[/*]
Carnival Triumph - Lovely and big ship, plenty to do until you drop, Carnival also has some of the best dining afloat!

New Orleans - Take your choice of the morning before our sailing departs or the morning after our sailing returns based on your flights in/out of N'awlins and I'll take you to over a dozen LIVE AND LET DIE hotspots - I'll be in town early on Friday and late on Sunday and do not mind running the same tour twice that week, once before and once after the cruise!

Key West - Has about 40 spots from LICENSE TO KILL, and from the License To Kill novel, Nobody Lives Forever, etc. - we'd have an eight hour stop to enjoy a few hours from the best of my Key West OO7 tour plus a few hours to do the town singly or as a group - we wouldn't tour all 40 locations but some of the best and brightest ones!

Nassau - 10-hour stop. I know 40 island spots in Nassau/New Providence from about ten Bond films and novels. Walking tour of downtown Bond spots to start the visit, driving to movie locations in the second half of the day. Again, not going crazy and wearing you down but some of the more fun Bond spots to "Bond" at from THUNDERBALL, CASINO ROYALE, Mr. Fleming's novels, etc.

What I'd ask of you as fans:

    1. Have me reserve the sailing as one Carnival group - with even 12 or so sailing, the cruise line will offer us perks like dining together (and I always lead trivia games and contests at meals and etc, etc. here and there) and group meeting space private for our use (I'll show rare Bond footage, bring collectibles, we can even do a costume party at sea, etc.) and

    2. I'd ask just a few dollars per guest to pay for ground transportation for tours in the various stops. Maybe $75 per person to cover expenses ($75 and that's it for any Bonding during the entire cruise and all three city Bond tours - four tours if you want to do New Orleans with me two times).

    3. Your trust and enthusiasm. I'm an experienced Bond tour guide and cruise travel guide. Even if you've never cruised, you'll have a good time (and people are still talking about their Bahamas cruise with me from 2006 when we toured CASINO ROYALE locations BEFORE the film debuted).

What I'd ask of you on this thread:

    1. Are you wanting to cruise out of New Orleans? Would you prefer a shorter run out of Miami (yes, I'd tour people to GOLDFINGER and etc. sights there) or Jacksonville/Port Canaveral, etc?

    2. Are you wanting a shorter cruise than a week? Like a three- or four-day cruise that just goes to Nassau? Only longer tours will take in Key West.

    3. Is it convenient to do an August something (cheaper but warmer weather) or do you need October/November, etc? Of course, Key West and the Caribbean are pretty breezy year round anyway.

    4. Be somewhat serious - I tell more Bond jokes than many folks but we'll need to start a new thread if people are going to goof around rather than seriously talk about this trip or a different trip - and I'll do a cruise if I get 5 fans who can go with me - but I've got to get a sense of who is seriously up for this (besides the Shermans and the Zaritskys)!

    Thanks, everyone!
