Easton Press: Ian Fleming's Complete James Bond

I just got the Easton Press Spring 2008 catalog in the mail and I am happy to say that they are offering the complete James Bond series of books by Ian Fleming. I just missed out on these the last time they were offered. I definitely plan on placing my order soon. The books are leather bound with frontispiece repoductions of the original jacket designs. These are absolutely beautiful books.

If anyone is interested their website is:

Better yet, here's a direct link to the books themselves:

Yep - a lovely set. It really looks like being a very expensive year for Bond fans :#

I bought the complete facsimilies of the first editions from Easton Press, and they were/are handsome, wonderful books. A note of caution however; purchase anything from them and they immediately consider you are the sort of person who is also interested in bone china shepherdess figurines, plaster models of your favourite dog breed, or plates of your favourite football team hoisting its latest trophy aloft on a plate. As a result they will plague you with catalogues and "special invitations" UNTIL THE END OF TIME.

I wouldn't mind a set of James Bond "Precious Moments" figurines myself. . .

Are not the "First Edition Library" and the "Easton Press" books different animals?

Easton Presses books are handsomely leather bound and not "special runs" while the "First Edition Library" books were a special run, exactly duplicating the original Fleming first editions.

Both are wonderful. I have the First Edition set, sadly still wrapped in cello and never read. They are the most prized items in my Bond collection.

I would love to have the Easton Press editions to read ....... I still using a 1960's set of Signet Paperbacks, they are a bit dogeared and yellow.

I have a complete set of the First Edition Library facsimile Bond novels, the ones with: reproductions of the original hardback cover designs; reprints of the original dust jackets; and slip cases which again show the dust jacket images. The only defect in the publication is that there are one or two pages in YOLT where the facsimile copy is slightly awry and the text goes a little wonky.

I'm not going to invest in the new Easton Press leather-bound editions, because, frankly, I doubt they'd top this dust jacket replica set, and for me there's also the issue of expense.

I ordered my First Edition replicas through a company called the Danberry Mint about ten years ago - they sent me two books every month till I'd collected the 14 - and indeed, for a while, they plagued me with junk mail to buy all sorts of other expensive tat.

It's a shame the series didn't include similar replicas of 'Thrilling Cities', 'The Diamond Smugglers' and 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'.

I decided to read my copies rather than simply leave them sealed, and I took great pleasure in this simulated re-living of the original Jonathan Cape experience. (Although my first reading of Fleming as a boy was mostly with Pan paperbacks, I first read FRWL, OHMSS and YOLT in Cape editions. Those early Cape reading experiences are the ones about which I am most nostalgiac, so the First Edition replicas serve me well.)
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

I am interested in the 14 books series facsimile editions with the dust jacket and slipcase but can find very little information about them. I thought they had been done by Easton but I guess it was another company. Any help guys?

They were distributed by Danbury Mint. Danjaq-off has a set for sale in the Mem & Collecting forum.

I just got a FEL - FOR YOUR EYES ONLY and you better believe I'll be reading that puppy. I also got a Easten Press leather of MOONRAKER and am working on a deal with the guy to get the other 5 he has in that set. I want the FEL set most but they are so dang much more than the leather ones. No way it's real leather, has to be leatherette.

Well, I found 2 of the slipcased FEL editions I could afford. However I found 8 of the 2005 leather bound editions for very reasonable prices and the guy I got hem from even included a US first hardcover of THE JAMES BOND DOSSIER (which I really wanted) and it is in Very Fine. The leather bounds were still sealed (they aren't now though. :)) )

I have a strange question. I am putting together the Easton Press leather bound Bond collection from 2005 and I want to make a special wooden book rack to sit on my desk to display them. I am still missing 6 books so I don't know exactly how wide it needs to be. If anyone has the set, could you measure from the left edge of CR to the right edge of O&TLD. and tell me the full length of the set in inches?
It would look something like the one here but made to fit exactly to the 14 leather bound books.
