Don't get too excited. A real vanquish costs anywhere from $120,000- 200,000. Their top of the line replica is $125,000. Makes sense, at that level, to buy the real thing. A quality product, sure, but resale value will be nil. There is no substitute for a real one. Now, if someone were to do a DB5 for $90,000, jump on it, as DB5s are now $250K PLUS! Look on www.classicriver.co.uk for price comparisons on the various models. The least expensive DB5 there is GBP 150, and the Vanquish is GBP 69,000.

I am astounded that nobody has made a kitcar of one of the most famous cars in history, the DB5.

The problem with a DB5 kit is getting an original (63-64?)for a weekend and making molds of the body. Then, a steel or more likey fiberglass body w/steel doors series could exist. It's been done with the Shelby Mustang(Eleanor)from "gone In Sixty Seconds". I Can't recall the company at this moment but it's not Ford and they don't call it a Mustang! I hear they're great though, hand made and Blueprinted from the ground up. A DB5 would fare better than replicars of dubious lineage, such as unauthorized copies of current, new Ferrari's etc.

Quite right on the Elanor! i have a customer who is building one, and you cannot believe the items available for the car! The DB5 kit should sell like crazy, seeing as there are only about 20 of them for sale in the world right now, adn the values just go up every year, aming them out of reach ($250K minimum) for the average enthusiast. A $100K top-o-the line replica with PS and A/C would be on backorder faste rthan you could say "An ejector seat, you're joking!"

I did see a classic cars mag a month or two back with a guy who was making a replica DB5 based on mould he was taking for his own car. I think he was basing it on old DB5 chassis or something; it wasn't quite a solution available to all!

The Eleanor kit is amazing; we may be talking about different ones here but there's one in the UK that's based on a Ford Sierra and it looks fantastic. Plus Mustang bits are so cheap that you can easily put a lot of the proper stuff on it.

One fun point about that Vanquish replica for us is that you can get it in full Die Another Day spec with gadgets and everything!

I wonder how much making that would cost though ?
You would still need to hire one and get a cast of the body, If it went wrong could of cost alot.

An Alabama based company sells car kits for the vanquish for significantly less than the mustang based version. It uses a Jaguar body. It is not a accurate as the mustang version, but it is much less expensive.

I have this car now but unfortunately I accidentally pressed the cloaking device button and I can't seem to find it. Perhaps I'll bump into it. Haha.

Some of the Vanquishes are dipping under 100 grand now, not bad.
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

Recent episode of Top Gear stated that Vanquishes have a very poor depreciation rate! I think they quoted a Vanquish that has travelled 10,000 miles more than halved in value. Similarly, a year-old Vantage also loss half its value. I wonder how the DBS will fair? Perhaps wait a year then purchase one Monza?

I'm already planing on buying a DBS in around 7 to 10 years, by then it should be in my price range. :D But until then in a year or two I'll buy a V8 Vantage which has also dropped in price recently.
