Secret Lair Location Released

The lair for Dominic Greene has been chosen by the production crew as Chile Cerro Paranal. It is 8500 foot mountain and holds a very large telescope. It has been described as the worlds most advanced obseratory. Around the obseratory is a esidencia, so people can live there all year around, A great feature for Greene plans.

According to press it will include;
* An Enclosed Tropical Garden
* Pool under a futuristic domed roof

It looks ok, reminds me of a Dr, Evil hidout.

    Its just a picture of Daniel Craig from Casino Royale. Looking all serious.

    A secret lair? Does the villian really need one? Le Chiffre didnt have one, but Gustav Graves had one. Which is this movie going to be more like?

    Hmmmmmmmm. This looks like a cross between something from Stormbreaker and Austin Powers.

    I LOVED Casino Royale, but I am now seriously concerned that QoS will be like the other sequels following a reboot. Read my original thread on this to see what I mean in detail, but to summarise the media coverage jyst seems too like it was in 1997 following GE and while TND was being filmed.

    Enough said?

    I absolutely agree with Strangeways.
    Additionally, these 4 domes make me worried, that we are facing again some ground-controlled Satelites and stuff, which are threatening the world from space. Like we have seen too often(YOLT, DAF, MR, DAD)

    It looks like what it is: an observatory compound. What's far-fetched and "Dr. Evil"-ish about it? The villain may be storing drugs there, not using the telescopes to shoot laser beams at satellites or something like that. Have a bit of faith and remember we don't know anything yet.

    I hope, you are right, Hardyboy, as my faith is large, my memory is bigger :(

    Agreed. One thing we do know, thanks to CR, is that pleasant surprise should not be ruled out as a possibility :)

    This sounds suspiciously like DAD. Couldn't they find a better movie to copy?

    Agreed as well. :D There've been quite a few announcements that have caused worry such as this one and the earlier announcement of a ton more action than in CR. I think we should just wait to see the film before jumping to hasty conclusions, a mistake I think a lot of people made before seeing CR. I love the direction the films seem to be taking with CR and Craig's reign as Bond and I trust what he and the producers and Haggis are doing. I fully expect this to be another great film. If this stuff was popping up after DAD I would be concerned, but not now after the direction that the films seem to be taking. Last I checked the series is still a reboot so I wouldn't be too concerned about giant space lasers.

    Truth be told, there's nothing in this particular news that worries me in the slightest---quite the opposite. It looks like an excellent location for Bond, and suitable digs for his enemy.

    My anticipation of QoS is continually enhanced... :007)

    Hmmmm. Looks like an interesting place. I'm guessing they'll try to film inside to. From above it looks plain, of course some movie magic will probably change that. I can't wait for Nov. 7th.

    The villain needs a secret lair? 8-)

    How long before we start hearing about Tungsten missiles dropping from space? :P

    This location has potential to be used correctly, but as has been indicated, lairs have a little history with the 007 series...

    The thing is… the buildings in the photo at the top of this thread are NOT being used in QoS. That’s a photo of the buildings that house the telescopes.

    The building where filming is taking place is the Residencia.

    An enclosed tropical garden? -- a Garden of Death, perhaps? That would be kind of cool, depending how they worked it into the story

    The company I work for is supplying some parts for a new telescope that is going to be used at the Paranal Observatory in Chile. While looking at their website I found a nice tie in with Bond. There's a few pictures and a nice little movie clip. Is it just me but does Craig seem completely bored with the whole thing!

    Do the villains even need evil lairs all they need is a big bang where tons of people die and Bond kicks ass.

    I like the location and the arcitecture, but there are some problems.
    -Does a villan nead a lair? Perhaps, if there is a good reason why it looks like it does.
    -Is it too remisent of DAD? Time will tell!

    Not too origional thoughts, but they are thoughts anyway ....:)

    I really don't mind an element of sci-fi and high technology lairs featured in James Bond, otherwise it wouldn't be James Bond, but I know where you're coming from and hope this is not going to be as cheesy as that darn ice palace featured in Die Another Day (however the Carver stealth boat and Elektra's island were not as far fetched as 006's Cuban complex).

    But Quantum of Solace is building up on the crime syndicate introduced in Casino Royle with Le Chiffre's superior, Mr. Greene, having more men, more toys and a bigger fortress. I don't mind a nod towards the more far fetched Bond movies and Austin Powers, but hopefully no mirrors out in space.
