Has anyone ID'ed or found a lookalike of the black zip jacket that Craig is wearing in Panama and seen when hes jumping on the boat?

I can't help you with the specific make I am afraid, but I did buy a very similar one in Gap (UK) last weekend.
Also found this cool photo that may help.

I also bought one that looks almost the same from gap.And it was end of line so it cost about £12.

I recently bought one very similar on sale at Macy's. It's a Weatherproof. A very "Bond" choice as it is waterproof, windproof, stain resistant and very high quality. It even has an interior zip closure pocket and a pen pocket for your parker jotter pen. Looking at the picture above I see it has the collar tab too like Craig's. Although it's probably not the exact jacket, it's very close and I'm really happy with it.

I have seen similiar jackets as well at Banana Republic...no point in spending a lot of money for that one tho...I am sure we will find out who made the original in the film but my worry is the longer we wait the farther we get from the possibility of the jacket still being available in the designer's line...

Looks like a typical Harrington jacket.

Article: This is not Steve McQueen

Looking back at the old pics, I had forgotten it had a lay down collar that was just turned up. Ignore previous post.

Looks like a black Baracuta jacket but with a different lining?
  • KittlemeierKittlemeier U.S.Posts: 432MI6 Agent
Nah, that's the one I posted. The structure looks the same but the jacket from QoS has a lay down collar. The Baracuta has the stand up collar with button holes. I think the fact that Craig looks like McQueen adds to the illusion.

That's assuming the desert jacket is the same as the previously pictured jackets.

Guess I need to dust off my old "Members Only" jacket. ;)
  • KittlemeierKittlemeier U.S.Posts: 432MI6 Agent
Well it looks like I was wrong about being wrong.

It appears to be two different jackets. The one in the desert seems to be more the Harrington style but without elastic at the cuffs and waist and no pocket flaps. The collar is dead on though.

The other one seems to have a lay down collar.

Yes, I think what is tying the scenes together for us is the Sunspel shirt...that being said, now we have the headache of tracking down TWO jackets. :#

Being a bit of a Mod -I wish he was wearing a Baracuta G9 Harrington Jacket. :D

You're right also about Craig I've always thought there was something of McQueen in him.

I recently got a nice Ben Sherman Harrington off the wife as an early Birthday pressie I'm well cuffed with it. I also own a similar jacket to the lay down collar one that he's wearing -all except its got some contrasting grey stripes on the cuffs. But still its black and close enough for me. :)

Perhaps it's the G3? According to GQ Margaret Howell has done a version of the G3 in her new collection.

Clearly Simon is slacking...or has too much Guiness in him to adequately search on the web at 7:45 AM on a Sunday....the nerve!

Shame two jackets are being used: one of the most pleasing things in CR from a reality point of view were the number of items Craig-Bond recycled in his wardrobe, rather than continuing to use the bottomless suitcase used by Brozza-Bond.

And from what I've noticed, there also seems to be too different dark brown chukkas, one with dainite rubber soles one with what appear to be pale crepe.

A sign of the new Costumer Designer?

Magnoli mentioned over at filmjackets that the Harrington jackets have raglan sleeves, so there goes that idea.

Is it blue or black? Or is it one of each which makes no sense at all. Why would Bond change jackets without changing the rest of his clothes?
  • walther p99walther p99 NJPosts: 3,416MI6 Agent
from the looks of it it appears to be a black jacket, but of course thats just my 2 cents

Are we all in agreement that it is a black jacket or jackets?

I ask because wearing black with dark blue (the polo) is a fashion faux pas. What's next? Brown shoes with his tux?

Also, any chance that we caught a continuity error in that he starts with one jacket and ends up in another? The zipper, cut, and material look really similar to not be the same coat ( or supposed to be the same coat) but it is that damn collar throwing us all off.
