Magnoli TND & TINE Ties

Thought I'd converge the two interest topics into just this one to save posting in two seperate threads.

Anyway, they are on the horizon, looks like Magnoli has really done these ties justice...

when can we place the order?
  • Herr MichaelHerr Michael Posts: 360MI6 Agent
They look great. I'll have to get one of each now.

I have one suggestion of improvement for the TND tie... it appears at the bottom part it is slightly off-center. Compare it to:

prop1001scan3.jpg in which the pattern appears to be centered perfectly at the bottom.

When can we place the order for these ones?
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
I imagine we'll be able to place orders through Magnoli's site in the coming weeks. Don't worry, we'll keep you guys posted. :)

Asp, are you in for the TWINE tie as well?

    WOW!
I thought this project was dead in the water.
Ties look great. Will they be on the mangoli website or will we place a special order through you asp?

You'll be able to order them through Magnoli. We should get an update soon once the tweaking has been done.

Any early thoughts on what the next tie project should be? :D

The blue DAD one and the other TND tie are certainly the best of the rest.

It's doable if anyone has the actual tie (or a swatch) or some good closeups of it (like simon's 4 meg scan of the TWINE tie).

A few people have mentioned they have the DAD circle tie, so if any of them are willing to provide some good shots of it or to loan it to Magnoli that would be good to pursue.

I believe some people have the Goldeneye Sulka "tank" tie... and there's also a bunch of high-res shots of it too, mainly courtesy of the Brosnan wax figure at Tussaud's.

Indy just sent me a shot comparing the two fabrics... on the left is Asp's TND tie fabric, and on the right is what Magnoli has reproduced.

    tndsampleyu2.jpg

It looks absolutely spot on to me! Big props to Indy for doing a superb job.

Outstanding!!! When do we place our orders?

I believe within the coming days... you should be able to order it through Magnoli's site as the "Hamburg" and "Thames" ties.

    Minor update:
I've been doing some tweaks with Magnoli on the TWINE Q-Boat tie... the pattern was woven correctly but on the prototype tie was rotated 180 degrees. The pattern still tiles identically but upon closer inspection certain features appear differently as a result (like certain lines threading under instead of over). This will be corrected in the final version.

We also had some discussion about the scale, and agreed the pattern should be slightly larger than the current prototype.

Don't worry folks - no detail is being overlooked!! :)

    Update:

Just wanted to let everyone know the ties are entering production, which should take two weeks. Tack on another week or two due to office/transit and both ties should then be officially available.

Magnoli has yet to add a link to order on his website, but I'm sure he'll have it up at a point where we will all be able to get the ties the moment they become available.

I also want to add that both tie projects are essentially a limited edition run. Of course Magnoli will happily run up another batch if you can get at least 12 people interested... otherwise it will not justify the cost of weaving the pattern and the ties made in this run will be IT. So get em (and as many as you want!) while we know they are definitely available!

I'm hoping that at least the original 12 or so that committed to this project will be guaranteed they're tie(s) first? I'd hate to not get one just because I missed placing my order in time.
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
I don't think we'll have to worry about that. There should be enough material to cover initial demand.

My warning was just for those who might be on the fence about whether to buy at all, or those who are buying and might consider ordering additional ones in the future... just be warned they won't be available indefinitely.

Just curious were the originals made by brioni?
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

Turnbull & Asser I believe. Someone will correct me if I've erred.

    T&A make a wonderful tie.

Correct. Brioni had a tie or two in DAD - but not in TWINE, TND or Goldeneye.

I've heard some varying reports about whether the TND tie is still available from T&A, but the Q-Boat TWINE tie is definitely out of stock.

Which one, the BMW at the airport scene? I always wanted that tie but never knew who made it plus i was like ten when the movie came out and i dont think my mom would buy me a $150 tie.

It definitely was a T&A tie. Urhash, how about having it replicated by Magnoli? we would need photos of the original though...

My order still stands as is. As does my offer of raffling off one each to someone who may not be able to purchase one, as stated in my origninal email. I'll work with the moderators of this site to see if we could come up with some type of contest. Perhaps a trivia contest? Cheers.

The copper airport TND tie is worth pursuing, but I can't even get a decent screencap of it from the DVD. Someone's going to need to get a really good shot of it, whether from the DVD or some other source...
