Goldeneye "Tank" Tie project

urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
Now that the voting on the ties has pushed the tank tie over the edge, I thought I would start a separate thread here to start discussions and track progress.

Here is a little pictorial guide that I've mocked up so far with some far shots, medium shots, very close up shots, and some measurements. After spending a long time watching the movie in slo-mo I was also able to determine the color of the inner lining of the tie, which appears for a split second.

I think this covers the basics. If you guys have any suggestions, extra knowledge, please post here and discuss. :) What would also be tremendously helpful is if you have any high resolution pictures of the tie that show some detail not seen in the above picture.

After the prototype has been finished and has been approved by me and everyone here, final production should take about a month before they become available through Magnoli (http://www.magnoliclothiers.com). Like the TWINE and TND ties before, it should end up being $60.

Well even though I didn't get my first choice - the GE arrival tie - and I'll have to grow my hair again :(, I'll take one.

You've got a 17.4% chance of making that flush, so I suggest you hold it in till the next rest stop. :p

Oh, does anyone have any other high-res shots of the tie showing any detail not pictured above?

Thanks guys! {[] I'm excited about this project!

I've just given Indy the 'info dump' with all the details. I've also made suggestions about the weave. Unfortunately no picture we have shows what the weave would look like... but I've given Indy my best guess and asked him for feedback. When I hear back on the weave, I'll post here and get your input and approval before we finalize. :)

I'm in as well. I used to have one of the "tank ties", but it wore out.

I do have two other Sulka ties that were purchased at the same time and are the same cut if you need measurements. Also, the Sulka ties have a re-inforced neck. I can take some pics of that if you need them. And one of the ties I have has the same lining as the tank tie I can take a pic of as well. The weave style on that tie is the same (but a different pattern). I can take a close up of that too if it will help.

That would be a great help!! Yes to both measurements and pics. :)

The measurements I used were based on T&A ties (which are pretty much consistent with every other tie I have). But if Sulka ones are in any way different, we should match that. :) Could you provide the same measurements I listed in the pictorial? (ie. overall length, width at widest point, how far that extends from the tip, etc)

    Thanks again

jbholsters, feel free to post here or PM me when you've got the info. :)

    To everyone else:
Indy recently mocked up what he believes the pattern to be. Does this jive with what everyone else is seeing in the high res pics? Feedback please! :)

Seems to be missing some yellow squares on the second row??
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
Could you elaborate? I don't quite get what you mean.
  • sruzgarsruzgar Welcome to ScotlandPosts: 1,468MI6 Agent
The second row (full row) of diamonds should have yellow/gold squares in between its points, not sure how to explain it better ?:)

This is the best way to explain it:

Talk about missing the obvious! :))

Thanks guys, I'll make sure Indy notes that (I'm sure he just forgot to tile it an extra time when doing it in Photoshop, most likely)

jbholsters, any luck with getting the pictures and measurements? :)
