Sorry to say but I wasn't entertained by you, ma'am.
Napoleon Plural is my man.
-{
I for my part find Alessandra very entertaining.... :x And I have strong doubts, if NP can take it up with her in regards of charm, passion, style and sexyness (in a very positive meaning). I also doubt, that NP is such a dedicated supporter for Cavill and we need ambassadors here - no matter if we agree or not.
I am sure that you Mr. Sterling will find a good way how to treat the ladies here on the watercooler, we have all started at once
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
It's all such hypocrisy. I mean, archeology, that's okay. But when I'm caught digging up Victorian cemeteries in the middle of the night, it's a different story... They put a different spin on it.
It's all such hypocrisy. I mean, archeology, that's okay. But when I'm caught digging up Victorian cemeteries in the middle of the night, it's a different story... They put a different spin on it.
it's all about sponsors. if you've got a grant, it's science :v
oh wow, Alessandra...I'd LOVE to find cool stuff like that in my back yard! all we find is bits of twisted plastic that used to be some child's toy when we go digging in the garden at my mother's house :P I don't even have a back yard at my apartment haha.
LOL You're welcome over here anytime! I'm serious there are all sorts of things when you dig around here. It's normal in Italy. They've been building the subway near here for YEARS and every five minutes they're stuck because they bump into Roman villas leftovers and whatnot ) But yeah, we did find a Roman coin in our yard. Worth nothing, there's plenty of those ) But still, it was cool to find it anyhow, for the history it has of course.
you should get a copy of The Book of the Dead...I've got one with the hieroglyphs, the Arabic and English translations...man, what a fun read! a great look into funerary rites...
Thank you for the suggestion, I actually may do that. I'm big on history regardless, so find this an interesting idea . And bonus points with Henry )
sorry about Danny, Lexi...he doesn't know what he passed up :P
Oh he WILL know... once we're done with our Bond girls plan :v )
It's all such hypocrisy. I mean, archeology, that's okay. But when I'm caught digging up Victorian cemeteries in the middle of the night, it's a different story... They put a different spin on it.
) ) ) ) like Bondtoys said.. make an announcement about those visits! You'll avoid spending the night in jail )
it's all about sponsors. if you've got a grant, it's science :v
) ) ) Ain't that the truth! )
Now, in typical watercooler fashion, I have a girly topic that we must dissect asap. I rewatched TND and TWINE and I have quite a few observations to make on the Bond girls. First things first though, since this one is a big problem I have with one outfit )
Sophie Marceau is definitely beautiful, no doubt. And very sexy. But WHAT on earth did they think they were doing by putting her in that bizarre cobalt blue outfit that doesn't really explain what it is? I'm unsure whether it is a super elaborate La Perla number (thus, nightgown/lingerie) or whether it is supposed to be a red carpet dress? I'd think the first one, even if it's TOTALLY out of place for her to wear in full day and at the place she's staying. But let's suppose she's waiting for the villainous utter creep to show up and look at her (since that's the only thing he can do). So then there's another problem: WHAT the hell are those "shoes" she has on?! They aren't even shoes, they are "sabots" which means shape of a shoe in front, but slipper on the back (with heel). And they're LEATHER?! The horror!! Such an outfit, even if used on red carpet, absolutely requires silk or anyway suede or fabric shoes, not regular leather ones. And, SHOES, not sabots! If those are supposed to be sexy "slippers" with a heel then the material is all wrong, because especially for slippers to match such a gown, they'd use silk! In short: what was the costume designer thinking? (and no, the "men won't notice" part doesn't matter, especially not in the Bond Girl Style Watercooler ) ). Surely our gentlemen will have noticed nothing of this, and understandably because of the transparency of the outfit and the hotness of Sophie Marceau in it, but us girls, we DO notice ) So the question stands. What the hell?
"Are we on coms?" (if you don't know where this is from... you've missed some really good stuff! )
I have noticed the transparency of the outfit :v but missed out on S. Marceau's hotness.
Imho she was as irrelevant as Eva Green.
Good old days, when we could see Claudine Auger in a Bond movie.
And Alessandra. I have showed your links about H. Cavill to my wife. Her expression was like she was watching a very sweet little animal if you know what I mean.
I mean, I never have been able to put this kind of expression into her face. Only one other man can do this to her: Our beloved national coach Jogi (Joachim) Löw!
Regarding the shoes: I tend to oversee them some times and besides this I am a strong supporter of this brand new fashion stream:
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
You mean like when the cat is looking at the canary? ) ) I know she is a HUGE fan of your national team coach (nice guy and attractive, that photo doesn't really do him justice), so I take it the feedback is definitely positive. Excellent! ) One more for Henry as Bond!
Ah, look at that. A man who doesn't think Sophie Marceau is sensational: that's a welcome change! I do find her attractive, for sure. But I don't think she can stand against the likes of Claudine that you cited, or the original Ursula Andress. Or Carey Lowell even (I find Carey a lot more refined and just overall more beautiful). That dress, or nightgown, or whatever it was, was a pretty bizarre wardrobe choice. And in any case inappropriate in full day and for the place she was staying at But I think she did look very attractive throughout the movie, and I found her to be a decently-rounded evil Bond girl. That said, she isn't my favorite for sure.
"Are we on coms?" (if you don't know where this is from... you've missed some really good stuff! )
then again it could have been the horrific memory of that day in the summer when every Englishman wanted the Earth to swallow him up
or it could have been the effect bondtoys has on me normally
) ) ) Hahaha, Paul, I am sure, that you guys will never get over that trauma! You should simply admit, that (besides of the Lampard-goal) our boys have been better in all regards :v That helps and will ease your feelings, when you are seeing me again.

BTW...this sort of reply would be typical of our dear friend....
I miss Bondtoys....
haha....spot on BT....you know the truth....
but relax i'm over the event and through therapy (actually spanking the aussies on their own turf has helped!)
now let's get off the sporting topic quick...
RS....how about getting a jogi campaign going?....
LOL Pen, don't worry. You will have time for your exams ALL of us girls are the guardians of this thread. Always have been, always will be. That's not going to change. This is our place. I opened it for the specific purpose of us having a place to talk girly things and give girl angle on Bond stuff, so we're all set Speaking of, must alert Monique, Steph and Lexi, we need to start planning :v
LOL Jogi as a Bond villain sounds like an idea. He does have the Bond style after all. And he has that look that will do for a fascinating villain. Certainly better than some actual actor names )
And now, back to Bond girl style, I need a photo to illustrate the girly topic point:
Now for this photo they bothered to at least use not leather but silk "shoes", but really? Those have nothing to do with the rest of the outfit! Black, besides?
"Are we on coms?" (if you don't know where this is from... you've missed some really good stuff! )
Here I am! I think Sophie was one of the most gorgeous Bond girls!! Too bad her wardrobe didn't do her justice! That's the 90's for you! That outfit was a bit odd... I certainly wouldn't call her irrelevant though, she was far too alluring for that! I loved Claudine too though! French women have done Bond proud!
Oh and Ale, I got a gorgeous Coach bag for Christmas. What are you carrying these days? That is my other weakness, handbags!
Yeah, first time here. I just noticed an interesting active topic with a cool ad. I was hoping the producers would put the Bentley in Casino Royale. Even though I prefer the DBS. Yet, there are probably too many people with standard Bentleys anyway these days.
I actually liked the women in Casino Royale. But the two in Quantum were both forgettable. It was probably their character more than looks though.
You make an interesting point about Bentleys. I agree with you that nowadays there are too many people who don't appreciate elegance that have access to stuff that should instead be used by people who can do that with class. Unfortunately those are the "perks" of modern civilization ) And I don't mean this in a snub-like way at all. I just think there's way too much vulgarity connected to the display and use of objects or clothes or to going to places that should be (in theory) epitomes of class and elegance.
Re: women. You're right, I should have specified that it was mainly for QoS. I thought Caterina Murino was the perfect example of Bond girl in CR... stunningly beautiful, elegant, strong. I'm proud she's Italian ) I do not like Eva Green, but her style was certainly far better than that of the girls in QoS. I think the writing made the characters forgettable for sure in QoS, but I also think the looks didn't help much. I thought both had nothing that made them really stand out in terms of looks. And if you read back on this thread, man, we have quite a few fashion missteps for them ) I don't know, I think I may be too demanding because I really am still hung up on Pam Bouvier. Obviously I looooved the character, she had beautiful dresses throughout the movie and a fantastic style, she was gorgeous... and she married Richard Gere ) (saying this for other women since I am not one of those who swoon over Gere at all, but he undoubtedly is a sex-symbol, so...) I think Murino is the last one who completely satisfied me. She's always beautiful and elegant regardless of Bond. I've seen and read interviews to her and she's also quite a bright woman, which is pleasant given the average these days )
If Cavill becomes Bond (please Bond God, help us ) ) I will be one impossibly demanding bitch with Bond girls ) The one in the ad with him is actually excellent material, though. I can't right now think of an actress I'd like to see as Bond girl with him, but I will come up with some names. Only one that comes to mind right now is Taylor Cole. She is on a new show called "The Event". I think she's a beautiful girl, AND she can also act, she's really good on that show.
I used the holidays to page though this thread. It seems like there are some real Bond women here. Some of you actually ride motorcycles! I always meet girls who want a ride on my motorcycle but I have it setup only for me.
I'm surprised you don't like Eva Green. She is easily the most complex Bond woman ever. There are many scenes when we see what she's feeling and thinking but Bond refuses to notice her "tell" because he cares about her so much. I do wish they had another scene or two with Bond and Vesper so we can see why he loves this woman. As it just seems like it's because of her beauty, innocence in the world Bond is involved in, and her ability to read him. There was a bit in the book where Bond talks about women having "emotional baggage" which would have made a nice scene. Also, there is a cut scene with Bond and Vesper in the water which I guess was just a promotional shot and never an actual scene. But it would have been cool. I think Eva Green uses her makeup in real life like Vesper does in the movie, which is to create a character. There is that beautiful shot of Vesper in Casino Royale with "natural" makeup when she's preparing for the night of gambling. I don't usually look at premier and real life photos with actors/actresses as I like to believe the character they are creating. However, I do check TheFashionSpot from time to time to see what magazine photoshoots some actresses/models are appearing in. Eva Green is pretty is the advertisements I've seen. The Montblanc ads are nice.
Taylor Cole is really beautiful and ok in The Event. I thought she was going to go the Angie Everhart route of a model that has roles in bad movies with barely passable acting. Taylor Cole was in a remake called "April Fool's Day" which you should avoid at all costs if you haven't seen it yet. There is even a poorly shot & edited garage scene when she's wearing boots with a heel but they somehow "disappear" so she can run away from a killer. Sarah Roemer is also pretty in The Event. Although, she was a lot better as the Grace Kelly (Rear Window) like character in Disturbia.
I actually like Sophie’s final dress in TWINE, very elegant. The shoes are kind of strange though…Also, Carey Lowell is pretty awesome. The short haircut is cool for her.
If you've seen Inception, the whole snow scene and Tom Hardy's performance is very much like James Bond. The scene is probably the most epic Bond like battle scene since The Living Daylights.
I think Eva Green uses her makeup in real life like Vesper does in the movie, which is to create a character.
True, the character of Lily Munster!
These are some photos from Montblanc events as she is an ambassador for the brand. She must be the worst-dressed Bond girl in real life ever - Grace Jones wasn't my cup of tea but she had far more style than poor Eva. Oh, why can't all French women be like Sophie Marceau! :x :x :x Dreams are my reality ...
I think Eva Green uses her makeup in real life like Vesper does in the movie, which is to create a character.
Spot on, SilentSpy.
Miss Green stated in several interviews that public make-up/outfit is something she considers just a way to create a character and "hide" her true self.
Basically, we have no idea how Miss Green really likes to dress (none of our business anyway) as we are just looking at another role.
Posting badly shot photos of actors, celebs is something I find a little childish by the way.
I'm sure we could produce similar "shocking" ones of each and every one of us.
