This might be my favourite reply on ajb....
Partly to see a happy ending to an fractious spat ( but gotta enjoy the passion)
But mainly for getting back on topic so smoothly...

I too love cary Lowell - one of my fav bond girls and Alessandra is spot on about her looking forever 30something ....
She can also act - I even liked law and order -not always a prerequisite in bond babes and of course sleepless......

So ur birthday is coming up fast alessadra ....

Can I make a suggestion or two?

    Luciana paluzzi ......

I met her recently and fell madly ... And I have a pic with her where she looks my age - and she dresses like class in a bottle.....

But another lady of the 60s bonds that exudes class and beauty and is actually 12 hrs luciana's senior

    honor blackman

Again one of my favorite pics with a bondstar - I felt like teenager with a crush....

Oh and pls give Eva green a bit of slack - in person she is exceptionally beautiful...

Then again so is Olga ...now there is exceptional beauty and charisma....

    Ok enuf

So to keep to the nature of the Watercooler thread, who would you consider the best-dressed Bond girl. I mean the one that consistently hit the style and fashion target in the bullseye. I would enter my opinion, but it is not in my area of expertise. So - I will see what you all have to say before I enter my opinion.

The problem with that is that so many of the Bond girls where victims of the era they were filmed in.
(Bit like Bond on occasion. Yes Sir Rog, I do mean you !!! ) Therefore I can only judge on what I feel has stood the test of time.

My own personal favourites are Daniela Bianchi (Tatiana Romanova) and Maud Adams. Both very stylish, classic ladies who could have carried off wearing a a sack. !!

:)) poor Sir Rog. I think some of the Connery stuff is quite funny now, too, in terms of style.

Ah, I think Daniela Bianchi was flawless. I agree Maud Adams was good too, both of them really could have carried off wearing a sack! My favorite overall still has to be Carey Lowell (Pam Bouvier). For the same reason as the other two, the way she moved, not just the great syle she had. She was, after all, a model, so it's understandable that she can at least pick outfits that suit her. And, she will be 50 in February (ha! Same month as me and her birthday is only a few days before mine) but she still looks much better than a lot of botox-inflated 30-year-olds. She also landed Richard Gere as a husband. :)) While he's not my cup of tea, I think for a lot of the female population that definitely spells good taste :))

In an ideal world, my favorite Bond girl would be Michelle Pfeiffer. But she never was one and then she became too serious an actress and too big a name to play a Bond girl. But, I think she is beauty and class personified. The only one I can think of as truly classy and beautiful, together with Ashley Judd, among nowadays actresses.

Then of course if we speak in absolute terms, nobody can compare to Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy in my opinion. They are the everlasting benchmark of elegance, class and beauty for me.

Anyway, back on topic, I pick Carey Lowell as my overall fave. Daniela Bianchi a close second.

And R. Sterling was right, took to PM and all's sorted. Sorry you all had to read the previous too harsh posts from me.

ok Alessandra! You have done it!

My wife is drooling over these new Henry Cavill video links which you have sent her on and on! :(

Thank you very much for ruining a pretty good marriage and a weekend which started well and ended with me sitting in the living room alone while my wife is torturing her computer for hours to get more Henry Cavill stuff!

    Thank you very much again!

So did Craig seen (and photographed) holding hands with Rachel Wiesz, and the rumor she might be in Bond 23, make this thread yet? Be curious what y-all's take on that is. :007)

Wow, I can appreciate the buzz in this thread. I started by asking who is your stylistic favorite Bond girl. I liked the comments. I must admit, I believe my favorite is Cary Lowell. She can act, and seemed to have a persona of a beautiful and very smart woman. Her transformation from a "can mix it up with the guys" to woman with a Bond-like style of sophistication when she enters the bank as Bond's assistant in "A License to Kill" totally won me over. Carey is usually glossed over in discussions. I find her to be the total opposite of Denise Richards. Richards can barely act, to the point that her comments were not funny but more painful if anything. The "Christmas Jones" joke still eludes me, as most of her nuclear physicist comments. But - wait - this is not about her, but Cary Lowell, and did I mention...her...great shoulders?
Bond: "But who would want to kill me, sir?"
M: "Jealous husbands, outraged chefs, humiliated tailors . . . the list is endless."

Both good picks. Both old day Bond girls, not coincidentally. I just think they were much better at picking them once upon a time than they are now. They don't seem to be able to cast a really classy girl in the role now, timeless beauty and UNDERSTATED elegance. None of the older Bond girls were too flashy or too dramatic in their outfits, ever. They were discreet and always classy. It seems like an impossible task to dig up someone like that nowadays. :#
Again one of my favorite pics with a bondstar - I felt like teenager with a crush....

Oh and pls give Eva green a bit of slack - in person she is exceptionally beautiful...

Lol Eva is not my cup of tea but I never said she is unattractive. I said her outfits and her make up are. I just find her really plain. But that's me and it really doesn't matter, it's all in the eye of the beholder. Speaking of, I would have loved to see Ashley Judd as a Bond girl. I think she became a big name too quick back when it was time to cast her. Love "Double Jeopardy" with her and Tommy Lee Jones. She's a damn good Bond girl in that one! :)) More Bond rather than Bond girl I guess, but you get my point. And "Someone Like You" with her and Hugh divine Jackman is one of my favorite romantic comedies. Man, Hugh Jackman really shows off his ridiculously great body in that movie :)) That must be one of the most clicked videos on youtube :))

Great photo! She is like Virna Lisi (another one who would have been a great Bond girl back in the day!). One of those absolutely timeless beauties who age with style and elegance, like you said.

Hm, I think Hardyboy did venture in here in the past. I need to check back, but pretty sure he once did? Quite a few of the big names, including Alex, have posted in here :D After all, what Bond girls would we be if we didn't catch the attention of the big names :))
:D already came across with them :o And they are on my HDD now :D

How did I even not think about this? :)) Of course. Well Minka is totally worth it. I really do think she's gorgeous. Love her style as well (most of the times at least). I think she may be too "old" now for a Bond girl since she's 30. Although she looks remarkably younger... not sure, they seem to keep casting very young girls for the role.
Hate to disappoint but Robert Wagner is in the frame for charlie apparently ..... Not a bad choice really but wonder how they will play the speaker phone/intercom in this day and age .....

Ah, he's a good choice. Not as good as Pierce would have been, but I guess they want someone older? Well the intercom thing is very easy... they'll just do a regular conference call. Not video conference obviously, just conference. Or if it's video, his face will never be in the frame? And it gives them the advantage of being able to do it while the "angels" are in action too, if they want, since they can do so with cell phones.
ok Alessandra! You have done it!

My wife is drooling over these new Henry Cavill video links which you have sent her on and on! :(

Excellent! I knew she had good taste :D

    :D

Hey! I gave you Minka Kelly! Not like I only took care of your wife. If I'm to ruin a marriage, I give equal opportunity or it :)) I sent her more links actually. You can solve the situation easily: you get Friday Night Lights DVDs for yourself to drool over Minka, and you get The Tudors DVD for your wife to drool over Henry Cavill. Win-win :))

Blueman :D we haven't discussed that as in general we don't get much into couples gossip and whatnot. We only discussed the fact Craig CLEARLY doesn't have good taste since he had to go to Weisz before picking Lexi. Big no-no for this thread, and Lexi is not a happy bunny. Neither are we, but things shall be fixed, as a man's taste CAN be guided, especially when a woman is involved :v :))

It also seems the Weisz as Bond girl rumor has died... When she and Craig weren't together I wasn't opposed to it at all, she has the right looks to be a Bond girl. I'm not a fan of hers in general, but she sure has the good looks to be a Bond girl (though I'm very unsure about her age since they seem to have gone for way younger girls these days). Now that they're together though, not so much. Established real-life couples almost always translate badly on screen. They do great when they're in the process of getting together, but once they're together, it just gets awkward on screen. (which is why producers don't favor romances between actors on set). I'm also not a big fan of all the "friends/lovers/related" name talk around this Bond 23 movie. Every single person in it or rumored for it seems to be a friend of this or involved with this other person in it? Not something I am particularly keen of. I mean I surely wouldn't protest if Weisz was cast, there are FAR worse choices out there. I just at this point wouldn't find it an "ideal" solution? But again, if she was cast, I wouldn't scream :)) I guess we'll see.

But - wait - this is not about her, but Cary Lowell, and did I mention...her...great shoulders?

Ah, I so agree. And yes, fantastic shoulders! She wore that strapless turquoise dress in the final scene of the movie beautifully! Shoulders make SO much difference... I saw some HORRID showing at the Golden Globes last night, speaking of this :)) Man, so many bad dresses... and bad shoulders! :o

Carey really is a beautiful, classy woman. I agree she's also smart AND she can act. As far as Denise Richards... well I don't think she was hired for her acting talent, was she? :)) I think she moved and talked the way the writers had envisaged the character though, and that's why she was picked. I absolutely loved Carey's transformation in LTK. That short haircut was genius! Beautiful.

And I loved how competent she was and how she fought for herself, and didn't just stand there waiting for Bond to save her, quite the opposite. She's the only good Bond girl (as in not enemy of Bond) I can think of who has always held her own and was able to kick ass just as much as Bond was :)) The "bad" (as in enemy) Bond girls of course could fight and shoot and various other amenities in movies. But the good ones? Way too often entirely dependent on Bond to save them. She, on the other hand, was the one to pick up Bond after he killed Sanchez and to help him. I found that a welcome change, especially since she never lost her girly side or class when she was fighting. That gun in the garter thing was a classic! Sexy but effective at the same time. Loved it! Pam Bouvier will always be my favorite. Well, unless they cast Minka Kelly and she does a great job LOL

Nope he's not married. That's to answer the vital question. And, he's single at the moment. That is, until I finally meet up with him :)) :)) :)) (a girl needs to be determined even when faced with zero chances :)) )
    to be continued......

Alessandra, what have you done! {:)

An excellent job I have done, I see. Well maybe went a tad overboard but you know, this is the effect Henry Cavill has when women are first exposed to his ridiculously good looks and gentleman attitude. It gets better, don't worry :)) I have to say most of my friends who have been shown his videos had this same reaction at first. The only other one I saw equal reactions from was Matt Bomer (the White Collar lead guy). But Bomer is (unfortunately for us girls, luckily for the guys who like him) gay so it all ends at admiration as far as us girls are concerned. While Cavill is straight and quite enjoying women from what I've heard (as in he truly appreciates them, not as in he's a manwhore :)) ) so you know things with him are quite different. A woman CAN dream about him and about being his girlfriend :))

Anyway sorry didn't mean to derail the conversation here... but important and vital Cavill questions must be addressed. Damn, I need to get working on the scenery and outfit for the Monte Carlo Bond girl watercooler multi Bond date night. Must pick the perfect outfit to appear in front of Henry :))

To get back to style issues and Bond girls. I love January Jones from Mad Men, and her outfits on Mad Men are great (at least some of them). I wanted her as a Bond girl but MAN, she can't pick a red carpet dress for the life of her! :o The red Versace number she had last night at the Golden Globes was atrocious! And so was the previous blue Versace number she had (last year). How does she always pick the worst Versace dress avaliable? :s

True in general, but there are quite notable exceptions (Burton/Taylor leaps to mind). If they're involved and Weisz plays a villainess in 23, that could be yummy.

Dam straight on that Al, honestly, if he was going to leave Satsuski.... then at least it could have been for me.... X-(

However, I do think Weisz is beautiful - and well I can't really blame the girl :))

Don't want to see her as a Bond girl though, totally agree with you there - but I'm sure it's just a silly rumour - rather than anything substancial.

Now, I just happened to be flicking through the channels, and I saw "Live from the red carpet" and I have to say, there were some interesting dresses on show at the Golden globes.

There was a beautiful Donna Karen Dress, worn by Ms Moss, I'm not going to post a pic, because to tell you the truth, the pics don't do it justice, but the colour and cut was stunning. hm, I hadn't thought about the villainess part. Mainly because she doesn't much look like the evil one. But I guess if they don't have love scenes and she's the villain then it could work. But Burton/Taylor worked because they were FIGHTING the whole time! :)) that means they were in the process of "getting back together" most of the times they were on screen! :)) When there's that sexual tension between people because they're fighting or they're trying to get together, then it works. If you're a happy couple, it really doesn't in most cases :)) I just think there have to be other options though. I mean, I'm not opposed to her at all, I just wouldn't find it a great idea.

I DO think Weisz is a beautiful woman, she definitely has the Bond girl look. I, like you, just don't think given the situation that she'd be an ideal choice at this point. But, there are far worse alternatives for sure.
Now, I just happened to be flicking through the channels, and I saw "Live from the red carpet" and I have to say, there were some interesting dresses on show at the Golden globes.

I saw it all live, and I completely agree, great color! There was a lot of green. I think Kunis had a beautiful green dress too, it looked stunning on her.

Sofia Vergara's color is definitely MY color, I wear it a lot in the summer especially. And she looked awesome! She's so gorgeous. I loved her dress and the way it fit her.

My favourite for the night though was Clare Danes. She had a pink Calvin Klein dress, very sleek cut with bare back. It was incredibly classy and elegant. She makes very good picks, last year she had an Armani Privé dress that I absolutely loved! Emma Stone had another Calvin Klein dress I loved, but apricot color.

    This is Claire Danes:

    And this is Emma Stone:
    emma-stone-2011-red-carpet-golden-globe-awards-.jpg

I liked Olivia Wilde's Marchesa big ball dress, but the SHOES were awful!! She showed them off and they were a totally golden glittered number, which if they had been stiletto sandals would have been fine, but... peep-toe anklet boots instead! EEEEK! :o

I do not know what goes wrong with Betty Draper when she isn't in Mad Men costume. January Jones is sooo pretty, but her red carpet choices are just bizarre. That red Versace number was positively shocking, and she also presented! :o

As far as Bond girls, Halle Berry presented and was also nominated for best actress. Well, I love her and think she's gorgeous, but her dress was a disaster! What were you thinking Halle? I mean she's got gorgeous legs and has every right to show them off, but in this number? :o I think she's too busy thinking about Olivier Martinez (can't blame her :)) ). Or thinking whether it was a huge mistake to let go that incredibly gorgeous man she had a daughter with (Gabriel Aubry). And I mean literally incredibly gorgeous. Definitely enough to cause lots of distraction! :)) Halle's number:

You know it's funny - I looked at Calvin Klein when I was trying to find a dress fo the 'Ultimate Bond Girl date' night.... and I couldn't find anything that I liked - however, that cut (Clare Danes) is so classic - and very elegant - totally agree with you there - that is one very sleek dress. You have great taste :D

I liked Olivia Wilde's Marchesa big ball dress, but the SHOES were awful!! She showed them off and they were a totally golden glittered number, which if they had been stiletto sandals would have been fine, but... peep-toe anklet boots instead! EEEEK! :o

Oh I totally agree - I was watching the programme when that dress was shown - it was a beautiful gown... very sparkly - and a great colour - I love gun metal grey - but those shoes :o If you can call them that.... I mean, what was she thinking? :# And the colour!!!!! Gold with silver? I thought that was a real no no - you either go with one or the other - but not mix and match.... eeek is right.... !

Bond girls need to rally... I mean it! :))

Yep - I so know what you mean - it's a fine line wearing underwear as outerwear - and I have to say it was a strange combination. She does have the body for it - but still.... totally agree with what you said.

Also, what did you think of Heidi Klum :o I mean - really? Ah well...... the same mistake wont happen with us..... we all have far to much taste :))

Sofia Vergara is great and so beautiful. She definitely doesn't hide her feminine charms :)) True that she's a bit like "la Loren" as we call her in Italian, but I think even more gorgeous.

As do you, clearly :D I did think that was the perfect combination of a classic cut in a daring color because it wasn't the usual pastel pink but a nice bright shade of pink. So it was classic but not boring. ANd yes, very elegant. I've just seen Calvin Klein dresses on sale.. methinks it's time to make a Bond girl trip to the store :)) And, this type of dress would be perfect for the "Ultimate Bond Girl date" night! :D

That is exactly right! You do not mix and match gold and silver, especially not when your dress is black and silver :o Those shoes (like you said, if you can call them that...) were just beyond horrible, they ruined the entire outfit. Good thing they were completely hidden by the big dress. What was she thinking though? Why ruin such a beautiful dress with the completely wrong accessory? She needed a pair of black OR silver sandals, or I needed to lend her my black suede jewelled sandals... they have a ridiculously high stiletto heel (and If I say so.. :)) ) and the front straps are covered with rhinestones. Perfect match for that dress. Actually, she can lend me the dress instead? :)) :))

OMG Heidi Klum :o I had the same reaction as you! I just went really? :o What was she thinking! That was, I can't even say how bad it was. Without shape, without personality, without elegance... and horrid combination of colors too :o And to think she's a former model! :o Would NEVER happen to us, I agree, we all have far too much taste :)) Truth is, they would need us to check them before they hit that red carpet. Halle included. Like you say, the combination was just odd. And of course she's got a fantastic body and she can bare her legs whenever she feels like it... but, in that thing? :))

We need to set up a "Bond Girl Style Watercooler" mission to pick the Bond girl dresses before they hit the red carpet :))

I mean, Halle Berry remains gorgeous but her dress wasn't quite the same :)) Man. Why oh why? :o It's like there's a contemporary Bond girl spell for the red carpet :)) And we must break that spell :D

Agreed that Ms Berry was a a disaster ( best friend obviously on holiday) though on other sites they are giving worst dress to January Jones ! Not sure I agree with that. Michelle Williams, Heidi Klum ??? .... ( Helena Bonham Carter doesn't count because her 'style' is always offbeat)

And why did Scarlett Johansson have to ruin her dress with a Bride of Frankenstein hairstyle !!!!!!! :v

And ..... whats with all the emerald green ??? Is that this years 'colour'

Lord, that was BAD. I didn't much care for the dress either, but the Bride of Frankenstein hairstyle definitely made matters worse. I can see the hows and whys of her divorce from Ryan Reynolds all of a sudden :))
    ...not to forget S. Bullock's helmet..... :))

And when Nicole Kidman attempts to smile, one must be afraid, that he face will explode! :o

I so love Sandra Bullock but really, that hairstyle? :o why did she do that! She looked so lovely last year when she got her award, this time around she was awful!

LMAO about Nicole Kidman. I was never a big fan of hers, she's too "cold" a type of beauty, but she's definitely always been a beautiful woman. Then, plastic surgery took over and now she looks like a monster compared to how she was when she was younger. WHY do these women do that? Meg Ryan is another one who completely ruined her beautiful face with plastic surgery. WHY! Put down that botox syringe and stop trying to lift this and that part! The sad thing is those women didn't NEED any of this at all. They were much more beautiful before.

:)) about Heidi Klum and January Jones. It's hard to establish which dress is worse, but I agree with you Steph that Heidi Klum's was probably worse if only because of the horrendous color. The other one at least was a solid nice red shade. And Michelle Williams. OMG. That didn't even look like an evening dress. (that link is awesome by the way! All the dresses together plus close-ups, excellent!)

Halle Berry needs her best friend to stop being on holiday :)) These Bond girls, why! She's a gorgeous woman (thankfully she didn't overdo it with plastic surgery and whatnot) and can afford to show off that beautiful body of hers, why pick an ugly dress to do so? :)) I mean really, what astonishes me is that it's not like these people don't have alternatives. They don't even pay for the dresses they wear, stylists just send a few to each actress to pick. Clearly Halle and many of those women have a talent for picking the worst one of the lot? :)) Seriously!

Totally agree with you. It is so sad what these women do to themselves. Meg Ryan is a perfect example. She was soooo gorgeous and now she just looks fake and sad. I know there is pressure on these women to stay looking gorgeous but they totally destroy themselves. Not adverse to a little nip and tuck. In moderation it can be very effective but there are far too many examples in Hollywood of how not to do it.

Oh I agree. I, too, am not adverse to a little nip and tuck but as you said, moderation is the key. It's obvious Michelle Pfeiffer did something to herself because nobody ages THAT well naturally. But you can't tell what she did! Which means she just did the strict necessary to appear glowing and beautiful, without changing any of her characteristics. I think a lot of those younger women (Meg Ryan and Nicole Kidman are both younger than Michelle) are very insecure and that is also why they overdo it. Then of course, plastic surgery or not, I think Michelle Pfeiffer was always much more beautiful than those two (and classier), but still. Meg Ryan really makes me wonder. She had such a beautiful face, now she really looks sad. How can they not see it? They should sue the plastic surgeon who did that to them.

That photo of our beautiful Daniela Bianchi shows how people CAN definitely age with class, look great and not become a plastic doll in the process, or something like the wax statues at Madame Tussaud's. Seriously?

:)) the joker photo made me laugh. I think Meg Ryan is a typical "I'm insecure" case. She left Dennis Quaid who was her husband of many years for that douchebag (Russel Crowe). :o Seriously? Who the hell dumps Dennis Quaid (swoon) for that vulgar troublemaker? Of course he dumped her after completely ruining her image, goes without saying. At that point she started with plastic surgery in full throttle. And she completely ruined her face. It's just really sad. Now it seems like she's dating that recently divorced old ugly rockstar :o (can't remember his name). And she was soooo pretty when she did "When Harry Met Sally" and "You've got Mail", or "French Kiss" even. It's such a shame. She started with the botox to her lips and it went downhill from there on.

Carey Lowell is 50 and looks way better than both Nicole Kidman and Meg Ryan, and she doesn't look like she's had work done to her face at all. Kudos to her, the Pam Bouvier class lives on! :D

    Mmmmm.....

Alessandra you're spot on when you say Meg Ryan is insecure...
And no doubt she is a victim of her plastic surgeons...
But the idea that Sally left Harry for Aussie is rubbish ...
I'm a huge fan of quaid and many of his movies are amongst my favs
(dreamscape, traffic , Great balls of fire and of course far from heaven) but angel he no ain't...
His coke addiction and philandering were legend and this is meg's own explanation of their breakup..
"On February 14, 1991, he and Meg Ryan were married. Quaid and Ryan have a son, Jack Henry (born April 24, 1992). They were divorced on July 16, 2001. In a 2008 interview with Insight, Ryan stated "Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that after I was divorced."

As to the Aussie, ever seen proof of life? The chemistry between the two was electric..... No surprise they ended together...

So...at the risk of a blast.....might I offer poor Meg the shoulder of comfort?....

And as to joker-jipes in the words of Solange, I just ain't that cruel cruel
