LOL SORRY! Alessandra was off working way too much and all the time and then drooling over Henry Cavill (who now more than ever MUST take over after Craig) in every possible fashion. If someone still says he isn't masculine enough or he is too young after those Superman set photos not to mention his superb job in Immortals, I'm going to just laugh to their face! :))

Hm, there's fashion talk up here??? I need to check. Good to see you all in great shape! :D

Pierce looks great these days and I can confirm because a friend of mine in casting mentioned how he wanted to lose weight because of a role and he did... the gray hair suits him just fine. And lol yeah, that photo in briefs is horrible but WAY before the other one... hair doesn't lie. LOL

Now about the new Bond girls. Naomi Harris: not a good choice. She doesn't look like a Bond girl at ALL. And neither does she look like Moneypenny if you ask me. But we'll see.

And Markus :D About Berenice. I think she has the right look for a Bond girl, definitely much more so than the other one. But A) she is WAY too young for Craig and they put her in that uber serious dress and those HORRID (no other word) shoes AND pantyhose (WHAT were they thinking! BLACK with grandma-color pantyhose, it looks atrocious) to make her look older, clearly and B) I am not for fake teeth but hers are just not nice IMO. She can fix that easily and it wouldn't be a fake smile, it would just be a normal smile, that tooth in the middle really does look bad.

About the hair: it's very badly styled and like Lexi said it's in DIRE need of A) a better haircut and B) a LOT of conditioning products and masks. It's dehydrated and badly taken care of.

I do not know what the hell they were thinking with the shoes and pantyhose with that red dress. The dress is more than fine, nothing wrong with it. Pair it with even lighter or on the opposite side black and VERY sheer pantyhose and the APPROPRIATELY high-heeled black stilettos and it changes completely. Like this, she looks like a cheap secretary ready for the office. I understand she can't wear full heels because she towers over Craig, but she did regardless with these shoes and even if they wanted lower heels there are MUCH more fashionable options for lower as well. Just a horrible choice from her knees down overall :))

BUT she is attractive. She needs to fix her teeth, moisturize her hair and be put in the appropriate Bond girl outfit.. and she'll work just fine. The other one... not really, unless she plays the evil Bond girl so at that point it won't matter all that much since she's gonna die anyway :))

Pierce's brown shoes: AWFUL. I'll take you shopping for Tod's and Hogan, Pierce.

Blame the brown shoes on mens magazine's incessant push for such 'sartorial' ideas... along with skinny jeans, little boy collars and highwaters...blame Thom Brown!!

Berenice's hair was the one thing that could have been aimed to appeal to us guys...it had the 'bed' look, somewhat messy yet sexy and alluding. but i also didnt find her and Craig creating much chemistry so hopefully her role isnt diminished due to this...i did love her shoes, though.

and i agree Naomi was a bad choice...very pretty lady but where is she going to fit?

Haha Brown shoes with black CAN be fine but not THAT shade of brown. It needs to be a lighter, and redder (can't find a better definition) shade, and only works with Tod's moccasins or classic English shoes (Church, to be clear). All the rest is a MAJOR no-no. I'm not against slim pants at all, much rather see those than the horridly ugly baggy pants, they do look very elegant WHEN they are Armani or Valentino-tailored. Again, certain looks only work when you pick the top designers because they know how to not overdo it. So Pierce's pants in the photo are just fine. And HE is mighty fine. But the shoes, NOOOO. LOL

Berenice's shoes are also a MAJOR fashion no-no with such a dress and for a movie presentation where she plays the Bond girl. Those are everyday shoes for the office, absolutely not to be paired with such a dress for a press conference/presentation, and the pantyhose is possibly what makes it all even worse.

I really do think she's way too young for Craig, and we'll see what her role is in the movie.. I agree I don't see much chemistry there but you never know.

Naomi Harris is just miscast IMO. This is not the type of role that suits her at all, she doesn't have the Bond girl look or attitude. Mind you, I thought she did a great job in the Pirate movies, and exactly because of that I really can't see her being a Bond girl. Let alone Moneypenny. I have no idea where she will fit, but like I said if she's the evil Bond girl I guess they could just create a different type of character for her... basically not a Bond girl :)) Just the evil enemy. Unsure about that because she's a field agent named Eve so in theory she's an ally. And making her a field agent also takes away more Bond girl factor... I don't know, honestly. Let's hope the costume department wised up because they were SERIOUSLY slacking in QoS.

Alessandra, what a priviledge to be 'conversating' with you!

    on point with Brosnan's shoes.

but i had to go back and look for the panty hose 'cause i missed them the first time. I have to say that the more i see that picture the more attractive Berenice becomes. The designers for this conference HAD to be going for the 'let her own beauty shine' look, understate everything else so as to allow HER to be the focal point rather than the outfit.
Berenice does have enough beauty and just enough presence to not necessarily need more to adorn her.

I love a pair of beautiful bare legs as much as the next guy, and the sheen adding hose dont detract from Berenice's at all. I wonder what perfume this sort of lady wears?

Nice to have you back, Alessandra....especially now pics are coming out...

I totally agree with you on her shoes... there must be a reason for them though... but I like the dress....

As for her smile... I love the slight crookedness.... it makes her a bit quirky... I hate all those fake white smiles that are ubiquotous at the moment... it kind of say's 'I'm confident in myself, and my looks, NOT to get it fixed' you got to admire that in her.

Didn't even notice the tights (or I would rather hope they were suspenders... much more Bond girl :v ) then you could forgive the colour... :))

The privilege is absolutely mutual! :D

Oh no do not misunderstand me, I am NOT against pantyhose at all, I am ALL for it, I am Italian and over here it is considered extremely tacky and inelegant to go around in cold months without pantyhose... I find it totally ridiculous and horrible when I see all those British girls in London in freaking December with their legs PURPLE because it's full winter and they have bare legs with dresses. It's an absolute no-no for elegance to go around without the appropriate pantyhose in the winter. And that was the point about Berenice. That color she is wearing (and the DEN which is a measurement for how transparent or not pantyhose is and how thick) is atrocious. It's the color and the type that is absolutely out of place. Had she had lighter and sheerer, or even better (more elegant) black and very sheer pantyhose, it would have done just fine. The pantyhose she has is wrong, together with of course the office secretary shoes that are out of place not only for the type of heel, but also for the leather and shape. Those are office shoes at best, not shoes to be worn at a presentation with a red dress and not with that pantyhose.

It's not about having more to adorn her, it's about pairing up the dress and accessories in the appropriate way. The pantyhose and shoes they picked make the dress inelegant, and her inelegant as a whole because like I said they are really inappropriate for such a context and look like secretary going to work shoes. :)) Not even Moneypenny would wear those. She's always been way more stylish than that.

Like I said from the start I do think she definitely has the Bond girl characteristics, so once you fix her hair and put her in appropriate outfit she'll do just fine. She's a very beautiful girl (minus the teeth). So surely she'll do and she does have the Bond girl look. But, she is way too young for Craig and that for me is a major problem. I think she may be a Camille-like type of character though so we may be able to avoid the problem of her with Craig.

Lexi! :D How are you? :D Oh you're so right about them needing to be suspenders, of course. I just went for pantyhose/tights (damn, all the American and British different lingo gets mixed up here and I never know whether I should go for the US or the British term :)) I guess since it's about 007, it should be British, so tights :D) as a general observation that she was wearing them but yeah... suspenders they should be, for an appropriate Bond girl :v

I am not for the fake smiles either but that has to be a problem she had ever since she was a kid and as a child who wore braces for maaaany years I can tell you that it feels way better even from the eating point of view once you fix. That tooth is not just slightly wrong, it's really not right :)) That said I agree with you that it's good that she feels confident enough not to do fix it, that's definitely the good part about it.

I do like her dress, definitely. It's a very nice and classy dress. Simple and understated but nice and classy. It's just those shoes + suspenders/tights colour that's not right :# I'm quite sure she had gone for a different look from below the knee on :)) This looks like a last-minute change to accommodate the need not to tower over the leading man (there's no way in hell any sane fashion consultant advises her to wear those shoes with that color for tights..I think she probably wasn't wearing any and had peep-toe stilettos, and they made her change. That's my version :)) )

Loeffs! I've thought about you SO much recently because of Henry's increasing success, and I never forget you were a very early champion of his cause :D Glad to see you around! I am and have been ridiculously busy but I'm doing ok (other than not getting enough sleep and my country being on the verge of collapse :)), minor details :)) ) How are you doing?

And also, where are the other gentlemen? Markus as usual started the whole thing and now he's MIA? OFF to buy his wife the appropriate dress and matching shoes, I'm sure! :D

Also, in totally unrelated news, is anyone here watching JJ Abrams's new (spy) show on CBS, Person of Interest? It's a terrific show and last episode had some MAJOR Bond vibes with Jim Caviezel in a tux, explaining his past as a spy in a flashback with a beautiful woman that had the looks of the boss of the evil Bond girls :)) It immediately made me think of the "what, no chit chat?" scene in Goldeneye somehow :)) OH MY GOD if Caviezel wasn't American I swear I'd TOTALLY want him as Bond after seeing him in this, he is SO badass and so stylish, plus delivers the witty one liners in a great way, it is fabulous! Anyway, just wanted to ask since I think quite a few on here would like it!

This is a good example scene of badass+wit It made me :)) :))

Good to have you back Alessandra.... The cooler ain't been as cool without you...

I'll refrain from adding inches to the Berenice pile.... Suffice to say I can't see why it takes so much debate to prove ol' two-tonics wrong 8-)

and thx for backing me up on the brossa pics ale.... And I agree it's the style (texture) of the shoes not their colour per se that offends with black.... That said black and brown are the drees equivalent of fire and water.... Always guaranteed to produce steam.... :007)

also, what is the secret to italian women wearing high heels at all times? (or is it just a myth? :)) )

OMG that pink tie! Agreed! what the hell is the appropriate reaction :))

Italians do wear white all year long, but in the winter it has to be the appropriate type of thing. E.G: a white skirt, or a white sweater or a white dress or a white coat are all ok IF they are made with the appropriate fabric. A white suit for a man in the winter is definitely a no-no though :))

:)) it's not just a myth we do wear high heels at all times. I am often told I was born with heels on my feet because I am one of those who love wearing heels. Today I am not though, I'm wearing a pair of black Prada boots with winter military capris and both the boots and the trousers are more on the casual side, so no heel. But as a rule, if I go to the office I wear heels 90% of the time and if I'm going out it's 100% of the time... unless I'm going to sports events (and not always, I HAVE gone more than once to the stadium for Champion League games especially wearing stilettos... I had to do interviews after so no way I am without heels when working or on camera! ;)) or to a concert where I have to stand the whole night on grass :))

The secret is we get used to it gradually. I started wearing low heels (mid-range and with a larger shape) when I was 16...and then moved to higher and more stiletto-like as time went by. So when you start at that age you get to 20 having half-mastered the topic and to 25 being a queen of high heels! :)) I very well remember going to High School with pumps on :)) It's all in mastering the art at a young age! Well I've been told that at age TWO I was going around trying ONLY the high-heeled shoes that belonged to my mom, and when we were on holiday in the Alps I also tried on our friend Teri's shoes, rigorously with heels... we had houses in front of each other in this small village, I guess I figured THAT was the only fun I could get there :))

    Alessandra,

WOW, i feel as though im speaking with a real bonafide 'Bond girl', what with the traveling, the high heels and interviews!!

several years ago my italian friend who was getting married had many of his friends over for the wedding, including some incredibly beautiful (and i dont just mean beautiful, we're talking OMG women so beautiful it hurt to look at them) of course in my dumbfoundedness i forgot to ask them how they manage to wear high heels for every ocassion. it is an incredibly sexy 'touch' to their look.

is this done for themselves or for us gents to admire?

the 'trainning' makes perfect sense! my mother would deck me in suit in tie since birth, so i can wear my navy blazer even to the bowling alley now.

so...what would an intelligent, sophisticated and beautiful italian woman like you consider to be a well dressed fellah?

Well this is the Bond girl watercooler for a reason, you'll see there are quite a few of us that fit the above description here.. beware :v :)) :)) :))

I do my best, I can't really well represent Bond girls in real life if I don't try and at least be somewhat similar to them at least to certain extents (no way I have Pam Bouvier's legs or Pussy Galore's ability to pilot planes but hey.. can't have everything :)) :)))
several years ago my italian friend who was getting married had many of his friends over for the wedding, including some incredibly beautiful (and i dont just mean beautiful, we're talking OMG women so beautiful it hurt to look at them) of course in my dumbfoundedness i forgot to ask them how they manage to wear high heels for every ocassion. it is an incredibly sexy 'touch' to their look.

Ah, so glad my fellow Italian girls didn't disappoint you! :D I think at least here most women wear heels because we really DO love fashion... a lot. And shoes in particular. I wear them because I LOOVE shoes and I love the way heels look on me and the way they complement my outfit, and I think I can safely say that's the case for most people. Then of course, if they also help get gentlemen attention and admiration... nothing we can do about that now, can we? :)) Seriously I think it's mostly done for oneself, and then the other part is just one of the benefits. The downside of course is that if like me you're crazy enough to dance an entire night in London clubs wearing 11 cm stilettos, your feet are basically a non-existent limb by the end of the night :)) :)) But, I actually do have heels that are also comfortable to wear. Summer high-heeled sandals are a prime example, if they're well made they really can be comfortable despite being high-heeled. I have quite a few pairs of winter pumps as well that are very comfortable despite having high heels (no not the ones I wore in London, those are ZE WORST :)) :)) but they're so elegant I HAVE to wear them from time to time :)) No pain, no gain, right? :))
the 'trainning' makes perfect sense! my mother would deck me in suit in tie since birth, so i can wear my navy blazer even to the bowling alley now.

Your mother is a very wise woman! Excellent strategy, so now you do NOT go around wearing those horrid baggy pants and size xxxxxl t-shirts, right? :)) RIGHT?! :)) It's exactly the same principle for high heels, perfect example!
so...what would an intelligent, sophisticated and beautiful italian woman like you consider to be a well dressed fellah?

Well you should ask her :)) But, on my part, I think a well-dressed man is someone who picks clothes that best suit him and that make him look the best. What I mean is, well-dressed doesn't necessarily mean suit and tie, there are ways to be very well dressed even when in a casual attire (ask Ignacio Figueras.. SWOON! Argentine polo player, main testimonial for Ralph Lauren's Black Label campaign). It doesn't even need to be very pricy but it NEEDS to be very well-fitted. That's a requirement. E.g. : 90 percent of American men need to be taught that NO you do NOT WEAR a suit jacket with shoulders that are so wide you can see the gap between the end of the jacket shoulder and the actual shoulder and NO you do NOT WEAR suit pants that are so wide they look like baggy jeans and so short I can see the socks! :)) :))

For me well dressed is necessarily stylish but not necessarily formal. Don't misunderstand me, I love a man in a nice suit, but I very much like a man with a nice shirt, v-neck sweater, jeans and Hogan shoes as well. It all depends on HOW people wear things and on being able to pick what makes you look best. This last part is the most difficult of all because a lot of people (and not just men, but women too) don't have the faintest idea what they should wear in order to look better... and yet they think they do. And they pick stuff that looks horrible on them :))

The James Bond type of style is my ideal (James Bond CLASSIC style is what I mean, not the stuff we've seen lately), Pierce's style in Goldeneye for example was absolutely PERFECT. Even at the beach. Or actually... to make it broader, the Cary Grant style is my ideal. THAT is a stylish and incredibly well dressed (and gorgeous) man. Who can pull off both casual look and formal look without even blinking. Ah, Cary... :x

Daniel Craig looks terrific wearing specs on the cover of this week's Time Out London magazine.

    Here is the interview

    http://www.timeout.com/london/feature/2002/daniel-craig-exclusive-interview

But oddly, he looks young and great promoting his Dragon Tattoo film, where he's meant to be 50-ish and craggy, and looks old and grey as Bond. Gee, I can't make sense of this world. :#

Don't tempt me, NP, don't tempt me. I shall not comment other than the fact that I'm sorry but I just don't see either Bond looks or Bond style, especially not in the photos that just leaked from set. Urgent re-styling needed. :))

Sorry I have to disagree Alessandra, This is a reboot of the series and Craig is a Young Bond only on his second Mission ( QOS was basicly a follow on from CR ). And I can't believe how a man of his age can look so young, He really does fit the bill a s a young rookie agent, Infact he could be in any Boy Band with those Looks. :p
It just goes to show how tough it is as aDouble 0 now, for years we had to put up with old duffers Like Connery etc who would try and show how Suave and Debonair Bond was and Missing out Totally on, the Haggared and ( Hell is my Bond F**ked) look.
At this rate for Bond 24 we'll see Bond with a zimmer frame, Putting in his Fighting teeth for the Fight scenes and swapping his Martini for some sweet milky tea. Mabey that's why they went for a Young Q, He's someone to look after the old man, see he doesn't hurt himself round the office.
Far from Time out I expect to see him on the cover of SAGA Magazine soon. :))
Seeing Craig looking down in those Pictures, reminds me of the Poster for the Original "Day of the Dead" :D
By the way have you notices how Old and out of shape Henry Cavill is looking lately. :))

Thinking of using one of those rooftop images of Craig as a New One. B-)
I think my Big Problem here on AJB is that most people don't realise I'm never serious
I always have my ( or if I'm Lucky) someone else's Tongue in my Cheek. :))
Some people do take the Bond films so seriously, I just enjoy them. and If I can Pull someone's leg from time to time. :D

Don't forget that Q has already saved the life of our tough, young rookie Bond in CR. We are lucky that Bond doesn't have to rely on stupid gadgets like ejector seats or rocket packs anymore, instead having realistic devices. Unfortunately the Q lab scene had to be cut for time constraints:
Q: "... your new Aston Martin DBS V12. Now this one I'm particularly keen about - just don't use the audio system too long as you will need a fully charged battery for this one: the defibrillator."
Bond: "Defibrillator? You must be joking! I am a healthy, athletic young MI6 agent!"
Q: "I never joke about my work, 007! - M felt that there must be something wrong with your birth certificate. 'Such a young agent, and he looks like a 50-year-old man', she said., 'better install something in case his old weak heart can't cope with the stress of a high-stakes poker game.'"
007: "But there surely are some concealed missiles behind the radiator grille ..."
Q: "No rockets this time, 007 - M's orders. But here are the controls of the oxygen tent - the same system as in Hugh Hefner's limousine."

    Alessandra,

WOW, i feel as though im speaking with a real bonafide 'Bond girl', what with the traveling, the high heels and interviews!!

Well this is the Bond girl watercooler for a reason, you'll see there are quite a few of us that fit the above description here.. beware :v :)) :)) :))

I do my best, I can't really well represent Bond girls in real life if I don't try and at least be somewhat similar to them at least to certain extents (no way I have Pam Bouvier's legs or Pussy Galore's ability to pilot planes but hey.. can't have everything :)) :)))
several years ago my italian friend who was getting married had many of his friends over for the wedding, including some incredibly beautiful (and i dont just mean beautiful, we're talking OMG women so beautiful it hurt to look at them) of course in my dumbfoundedness i forgot to ask them how they manage to wear high heels for every ocassion. it is an incredibly sexy 'touch' to their look.

is this done for themselves or for us gents to admire?

Ah, Cary... :x

Mama mia! Im just finishing up a biography by Dyan Cannon, 'Dear Cary, My life with Cary Grant'.

!! we are on the same wave length here!
Cary is a such a study in the concept of style and elegance.
in the book he tells his wife that his father once taught him that people should see FIRST the man, then the clothes.

This is a great 'philosophy' as it stresses the face and its personality rather than the outfit. It explains why Cary actually was VERY conservative in his style. He mostly wore dark suits, white shirts, and his ties got about as colorfull as silver or black with red stripes. Yet Cary was thought of very 'stylish' and fashionably impressed, when in fact he stayed away from colorful schemes and patterns. the website 'Sartorialist' missed this point when in a debate the sartorialist himself deemed Gene Kelly more stylish than Grant!

I think Cary's 'style' (and Bond's for that matter) is actually the most difficult or advanced to master, as it requires you to be very disciplined in your choice of clothes (almost requiring a 'uniform' so to speak), (cant count the number of times ive wanted to buy a tie or shirt or even a suit that screams more miami vice than cary grant although still very attractive).

thus, your clothes cannot be the 'center' of your presentation, YOU must be it (the pressure!!) when done right of course, you get the Grant effect, where you are described as elegant, suave, stylish, etc..not your clothes. so its a good exchange!

...so the heels ARE for the love of fashion! I swear they are one of the best inventions ever, what would we do without women in heels?? :D

you are correct too about wearing what makes you individually look better, one 'size' doesnt fit all indeed. even when i was more adventureous with colors, green absolutely looked horrid on me, (except lime green according to many ladies!) and no, in fact i burned all my 'loose' fit jeans and shirts many many years ago!

Big kiss on the cheek Alessandra!

Oh you bet I have. Carefully examined every single angle of his out of shape, old body and his absolutely unattractive face. (Where is the drooling smiley here? :)) :))) Henry :x ;%

Rainier, somehow I don't think they'll let you write for Bond, but trust me from now on I will imagine that scene when I see Q. :D Speaking of, given the turn events have taken, who is for a Q/Bond girl hook up here? Because at this point I'm favourable. Hey, he's young and cute. :)) (I'm joking. not about the young and cute, about the rest. Would never want anyone to think I am part of the looney bin :)) :)) ) I want to see what kind of outfit they put this new Q in. If they mess up Q's style, too (It MUST be classic and traditional), I will go hunt down Barbara Broccoli first, and the costume designers then :))

    ;% :))

You indeed are on my same wavelength given you appreciate my perfect man Cary Grant so much... Cary was the last example of perfect man (well Henry Cavill is close :)) ) then the mold was thrown away :)) Now seriously I can only agree. Colors CAN be used but people need to be very aware HOW to pair them and what is reasonable and what isn't, especially for men. If it's a polo shirt basically any color is good PROVIDED it matches your complexion and general colors as a person... that's what most don't get. I have dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes.. no way in hell I wear brown! LOL It looks awful on me! I look like a tree trunk going around :)) on a blonde woman though, generally brown looks nice. (I look great in yellow, of course). It's all about matching the "opposing" colors the appropriate way. Then for a woman there's a serious "accessorize" problem too that can make an outfit perfect or wrong (like for example the shoes ruined the overall look of the nice red dress our new Bond girl was wearing). Shoes can ruin an outfit for a man as well, but it's easier for a man to get it right with accessories than it is for a woman, bearing in mind just a few guidelines (smart suit requires smart shoes, casual attire requires appropriately casual shoes. APPROPRIATELY casual, not trainers match everything :)) ).

Cary really was the perfect example. I love Ignacio Figueras like I explained, and he has that timeless perfect style (that Ralph Lauren of course fits well into), plus a very chic casual style. The fact he's gorgeous of course helps :)) :))

Lime green is a color I like a lot, I like bright greens in general, and I'm actually wearing a lime green cowl neck sweater right now :)) with the right complexion it looks very nice. I especially like it in the summer but if I can make it work in winter as well, I'll definitely wear it.

Sounds like you have the perfect guide on how to be a stylish man in your hands, nobody better than Cary for that! And ugh, checks, stripes, all that are to be handled VEEEEERY carefully. I do like pin-striped suits of course but checks? Sorry, no, not on anyone :)) If it's a more casual checkered jacket MAYBE, depending on the color, the pattern, the person, and what's been matched with it... but in general, NO. Yes I am conservative on fashion for men... and you'll never see me wear anything from JP Gaultier or, heaven forbid, Vivienne Westwood. NOOO, just no. There may be the exception within their collection but the norm is that my hair rises when I see the stuff they design :))

Now watch as they put Q in a checkered jacket, or worse some nerdy baggy jeans and sweater attire. I'll hit them with my stilettos if they so much as think of doing so! :v
"Are we on coms?" (if you don't know where this is from... you've missed some really good stuff! :D)

It wouldn't surprise me if Cary Grant and Daniel were related in some way. They could be twins.
