Ok, the game is simple. Choose your favorite book, or books, and choose your ideal cast, director, etc. for your ideal film adaptation. I'll start with a few of mine as an example.

"The Rum Diary" by Hunter S. Thompson

Cast-
Heath Ledger as Paul Kemp (RIP Heath!!)
Aaron Ekheart as Yeamon
Robert Downey Jr. as Bob Sala
Charlize Theron as Chenalt

Screenplay by Andy Andersen (that's me!)

Directed by Jim Jarmusch

"Live and Let Die" by Ian Fleming
(Unofficial period James Bond film exactly like the book)
Cast-
Clive Owen as James Bond
Monica Bellucci as Solitare
Samuel L. Jackson as Mr. Big
Gary Oldman as Felix Leiter

Written and Directed by Quentin Tarantino

Sounds fun, here's my dream motion picture.

The Hour Of The Dragon By Robert E. Howard

    Directed by John Boorman
With Special Effects by Ray Harryhausen

    Brief Cast List

    Conan: Clint Walker
    Prospero: Errol Flynn
    Xaltotun: Sir Cedrick Hardwicke
    Zenobia: Virginia Mayo :x

    Screenplay by Mike Mignola

Of course since these are scattered periods there's no way in hell this would ever happen though :)

Whoa, there's a whole lotta firepower in this thread already! But here's my little effort:

The Woman and the Ape, by Peter Hoeg

    Directed by Roman Coppola

    Paul Bettany as Erasmus
    Madeleine Stowe as Madelene

and let old Peter do his own screenplay, why not.
