Need help for James Bond Party

Hello all

My Dad is turning 60 and he is a huge Bond fan. So I am throwing him a surprise Bond party on September 20th.

I am having trouble trying to decide what to have for dinner. I would like to have a sit down dinner as well as snacks.

So far we have rented casino games (and the people that run them). So we will have a casino set up in our basement. In our theatre room we will be playing Bond movies throughout the night.

I have made contact with a company in Toronto that may be able to rent to us an Aston Martin...the problem with that is that the car is on location somewhere for a movie, and I can not find anywhere else that has one.

And as for the Vesper...that Lillet is not easy to find. The closest bottle is about 100 km away!

Any other ideas would be great! And are there any other Bond drinks?

The menu is where I am stuck the most.

I figure you guys might be the best to ask :)

Thanks so much!

The only other drink I can think of is a mint julep, I think it is made with Bourbon.

If I lived closer I'd be crashing that party, it sounds pretty sweet ;)

    A few bottles of Bollinger wouldn't hurt! And don't forget the obvious choice of a shaken not stirred Martini. -{

As far as food goes, caviar seems a favorite of all 6 Bonds!

..and for the main course..how about Lamb?

I love that quote in CR
    Vesper: How was your Lamb?
    Bond: Skewered.

Roast Lamb is quite an easy and no hassel meal...you don't want to be in and out of the kitchen, producing something ultra fancy, when you're trying to have fun and join in.
    ..just an idea!

Looks like lots of good stuff on there. Have fun at the party.

luvalot, if you still need the Lillet, do a Google search for Morell Wine in NYC. They nearly always have it in stock. You can order it on line and have it shipped to your door.{[]

I'd go with a Coq au vin, Oysters Rockefeller and eel sushi appetizers and a nicely made Sazerac(I believe Bond ordered one in Live and Let Die, make sure you can find a bartender that knows how to make it).

And for dessert, .... the Bombe Supreeeese, of course!

Not sure if having Bond movies in the screening room is such a great idea as people may be tempted to just sit down and watch a film rather than socialise. Maybe a compilation clip tape lasting an hour or something on a loop might be better.

Get the staff to dress up as geisha girls like YOLT, perhaps, or have a Bondian sounding compilation tape playing. Sure there's a thread for that somewhere.

Try to make it black tie, at least suits. You can try catering it to keep it simple. A bar would be nice to get into the moment. I would recommend putting a music mix together that would cover a few hours. Include Bond songs but locate other hard to find ones, such as on the 30th Anniversary of Bond CD. Also include other "swanky" classics such as by Julie London, Frank Sinatra, and others, just to break up the monotony.
Bond: "But who would want to kill me, sir?"
M: "Jealous husbands, outraged chefs, humiliated tailors . . . the list is endless."
