Well you'll get a smile on your face if England screw up against Andorra tonight, JD...

Can't see that happening though. We were terrible. Just terrible. :#

I read that it was sweltering heat... not really what the Scots are known for putting up with...

I always figure it's a bit unfair that the big semi-finals are held in summer, in sweltering climes totally unfamiliar to the British Isles, so we can't hack it. Play the Finals in freezing sleet and see how those Brazilians like it then...

(Suddenly remembers Germans success... :( has a rethink)

Unfortunately two of the other teams in our group are Norway and Iceland. Both of these countries have worse weather than we have, so there's no advantage there. Still, at least Andy Murray beat Nadal. Something to smile about for once.

Yes indeed. Didn't think that would happen to be honest.

Usual laboured England victory over Andorra, a brace from Cole to flatter the scoreline. Still, a draw against Croatia will have everyone saying how we're gonna win the next World Cup or something.

Actually it's the Premiership that's been all news this week!

I was going to post "At least Murray won the tennis", but nevermind :)

Get's the wee Spanish punk back for putting him out of Wimbledon, if nothing else :D

Too bad for Andy Murray. Mind you, Federer does look like Chandler Bing. Could that be any more distracting...? :))

Murray played some good tennis, but Federer is something special.

Apparently it was Setanta TV who insisted Scotland play our opening match in the middle of the afternoon. Crazy. Even the Macedonians wanted to play at night. :s

    Iceland 1 Scotland 2 :D

That was close, but we're right back in it. Norway next, at home.

English sports press, dear boy ;) As for ours, we're always muppets! :D Beating the Faroe Islands 1-0 is a result and a good excuse for a few beers. Being beat by the Faroe Islands 1-0 is better than being beat by the Faroe Islands 2-0 and a good excuse for a few beers :D

I dunno, I think the Scots press has been at it ever since George Burley got the job. They've been pretty disgraceful. Especially The Daily Record, who seem to have an agenda against him based entirely around the fact he has never managed a certain Glasgow club. And the reaction to the Macedonia defeat was completely over the top. That was the kind of game I always felt we could lose. It just didn't suit us, and Holland apparently struggled over there the other night. Hopefully we can take Norway at Hampden and they'll get off his back.

I'm really nervous about today's game. Norway beat us the last time they played at Hampden. Not many teams do that in competitive matches. :#

Worst open goal miss ever in the entire history of football!! For feck's sake. It was easier to score.

If we keep up with that kind of standard, then we don't deserve to be there in 2010.

And now Kris Boyd has quit international football in disgust at not getting a chance against Norway. :( What a difference between the last campaign when we scared the hell out of Italy and France. Our problem last time was having decent managers who didn't want the job. Now it's having a guy who's not up to it, but who wants to stay. I thought Burley was a great appointment and now I feel very foolish.

Commiserations to the Irish who were cheated out of the World Cup by ball-juggling Frenchman Thierry Henry. I hope France get what's coming to them during the Finals. I would even go so far as to support the English if they were drawn against the cheating gits.

Henry has terrible form at the World Cup - remember the time someone kicked a ball at his chest and he dipped down, covering his face with his hands in agony?

I'm with you there. I don't much like the French anyway, but this is worse than anything they have done in the past (such as Henry's serial diving.) It is horrible and I think that FIFA needs to step in and kick France out of the World Cup. They will never do it of course, but what Henry did was unforgivable and he, and/or France, needs to be held accountable.

Every true fan of football worldwide should be hoping that France get eliminated in the first round next year...and hopefully with a dodgy own-goal off Thierry Henry's smug face. Nothing would give me greater pleasure now than for Les Cheats to be in the same group as England so that we can do the Irish a favour and help them on their way home. Of course, that won't happen...FIFA will rig the draw as they always do and ensure that their favourites are in easy groups...so it will likely be France, Honduras, New Zealand and North Korea.

Are you speaking solely of the obvious historical links between the two nations, or do you think that Algeria would be likely to come to Ireland's aid and get revenge against France? ;)

And I noticed that Algeria have a player named Zidane...we could be treated to some more outrageous head-butting involving the French if such a clash happened!

...and what is it with supposed 'superstars' disgracing themselves with blatant cheating?

    - Maradona...Hand of God
    - Rivaldo...false assassination
    - Zidane...Headbutt
    - Henry...handballs
    - Cristiano Ronaldo...every time he takes to the pitch
