Reading Benson's Never Dream of Dying at the mo -quite enjoying it although obviously not a patch on Fleming or Gardner.
WOA ! Put it down, my friend....and save yourself the wasted hours
I have to admit -there are parts of NDOD that come accross very childish -It is certainly one of the weakest Bond novels on the market. I have read it before but absolutely ages ago. I'd forgotten a lot of it -and I'm beginning to see why! I'd like to think some of my own writing is better than some of this novel. I'd give it a 4/10 and that's a generous score -simply because it is a Bond novel. but sadly a poor one.
I finished You Only Live Twice not long ago, thus adding to OHMSS, FRWL and Thunderball for my Fleming exploits. I'll go for Dr. No or Casino Royale next.
Don't know what kept me from these wonderful works all those years of being a Bond fan. Ah yes, thanks be to Penguin for reissuing these buggers. I had a rough time finding them before.
Just finished Licence Renewed by John Gardner. I think it was okay, not nearly as good as Colonel Sun or (most of) the Flemming ones. Starting For Special Services tomorrow. Saw that it starts at Maastricht Airport.
I just finished LALD last month for the second read through. It is such a good one. i love the training bit and the description of the deep as he approaches the island...and I can hear the drums beat. Good stuff. That book more than any other makes me imagine the world in vivid detail.
Right now, after finishing LALD, I am reading Colonel Sun by Markham (aka Amis). I dont know what to think. It does not have me turning the pages like Flemming novels. I am kind of stuck. Over on bondaholic (if y'all are members) I started a discussion thread of Colonel Sun for those of you who want to vote on a poll and discuss the book. I will get back here when it I finish it.

I've got all the Ian Fleming books now,so i've started with Casino Royal and are reading them in order.Almost finished with From Russia with Love.
I am currently reading novelisation of DAD, sort of enjoying it, but not the same callibre as the original and continuation novels. Not really a big fan of film tie-ins but I would give it 5.5/10
Sorry if I have missed the link, but what is the general feeling about Sebastian Foulkes and Jimmy McTee? "Central Casting" apparently has upset Patrick Mower (a one-time contender) and maybe Robbie Williams (http://stores.lulu.com/aroundthepeak)
just started thunderball again,not read the fleming books for a year or so,needed a proper fix after,the union trilogy,and devil may care,get back to a bond,how bond should be!!

I'm just starting Diamonds Are Forever for the first time and I'm enjoying it immensely so far. Then again, I'm only on the 4th chapter.
I recently decided that it was time to read the Bond series and so far I've read Thunderball, Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, and Moonraker. Thunderball is probably my favorite so far. For some reason I didn't really like Moonraker all that much. Many seem to love it on this site, but I was a little disappointed. The first half at Blades was fantastic, but it just fell apart for me after that. Maybe the 2nd read will change my opinion on it. -{

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

Finished the book now. I must say, I have enjoyed reading it but the last 25 pages are very bad. The end ruined the entire story!
