Mobile/Cell phones question

I'm about to upgrade and about time too. However, is it possible to buy two cell phones with the same telephone number? A nice swanky one (like the QoS Sony Ericsson) then a cheap, nasty one to take to a club, one which could get nicked and it wouldn't be the end of the world. Obv with the same tel number on it?

I don't think you can buy 2 sim card's with the same number on it....? However, you buy 2 phones, 1 sim card...and just switch the sim card from one to the other...that would be the easiest option.

I don't think that is possible TBH, but it's a good quesiton though!

I believe this wouldn't be possible because, each mobile phone has a unique number assigned to it. You would need a seperate number for the other phone, it's a bit like a car registration plate and that means no-one else can use it/have it other than you.

    Hope that makes sense!

    1) An alternative option is have a good phone with your main number (I am assuming you have contract) then get a cheap hanset on "pay as go," with the same service provider. - That way you have the option of having two mobiles.

    2) It is possible to have lines to one handset, (costs more) but you would have to talk to a service provider about call divert if you want to have one number that can divert to a second phone handset. - Even then, it would still require you to get two seperate phone lines, and two numbers. - Usually this kind of thing falls under business deal packages, but it ain't cheap.

Considering the potential costs though, you may be better off just following Lexi's suggestion?
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Lexi's answer is good, then again would that be the same number for people calling in on the different phone? Or would I still need a different telephone number for that other phone, but have all my contacts on the sim card?

Are all sim cards interchangeable? Could I put a sim from a Sony Erricson into a cheap Nokia?

all sim cards are interchangeable (as far as I know)

But you would obviously only be able to use one phone at a time...(as the other phone would have no sim card in it....)

    I hope that helps....?

    Almost totally!

I'd turn off the pricey phone while going out clubbing etc, but could I use the same telephone number on the other cheap phone?

Just curious. What's a sim card for a cell phone? My cell phone doesn't have one, as far as I know it doesn't. The sales person never mentioned it if it does have a sim card.

if you take the back off you phone...under the battery will be a little plastic square....usually with a corner cut off....this is your sim card. It's where all your numbers etc are stored. You can take out this card..and use it in other phones..or you can even put it in your landline phone..(if it supports a sim card) and get all your mobile phone numbers onto your land line phone. (I've just bought a new landline..and it has this feature...very cool B-) )

Only if the phones are with the same network or the phone is unlocked otherwise,no .... you cant put a T-Mobile sim in a locked Orange Nokia
