QoS on a budget thread

Starting up the QoS on a budget thread so that those who have good budget ideas can post.

Here is my contributution

1. Levi 501
2. Sunspel Polo
3. OP Sunglasses

The last 2 were added because they are a lot less expensive then Tom Ford's version.

Wait aren't the Tom Ford sunglasses cheaper than the OP's?

I'm actually really liking the Levi's 501. I hadn't worn Levi's in years, but I was really surprised by how much better fitting and durable they are than some of the other more expensive premium jeans I own. Whereas a lot of my other jeans just start to look 'old' after too much wear, these actually develop a nice distressed look.

It's also interesting to note that a lot of luxury denim brands (the good ones I mean, such as PRPS, not just the overpriced labels from CA like Seven, True Religion, etc) take a lot of their inspiration from the original Levi's like the 501.

Black Zara cardigan is a great alternative once you change the buttons.

In CR, the leather jacket Bond used, I heard it was Armani, is it true?

The Levi´s 501, which coulor is it?
You know in America it’s “bling, bling”, but out here it’s “bling, bang”.

the leather jacket was armani, but we found out that Bond doesnt wear the levi 501 jeans in QOS, but i guess they make a good alterative, and the color was tidal blue

The Jacket in QoS is a Wax Cotton number. the Baracuta G4/G9 is available in Wax Cotton, that's your best bet!

I think we should ask Magnoli to make a TF blue jacket replica- the Baracuta just isn't close enough, I think.

It wouldn't surprise me to find he is already working on it!!!

I'm quite tempted to get his Royale leather jacket. Anyone seen/got one and willing to offer a quick review?
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
I have the Royale jacket... really not much to say about it except that it is superb, well constructed, made of excellent leather and very close to the original armani jacket. Nuff said :)

Emailed Indy about making a QoS TF jacket replica, he said he could do it in a cotton twill for $350.

Should I ask him if he thinks waxed cotton would be more accurate?

    It is not waxed cotton.
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
P.S. If you guys can get Magnoli to make the jacket count me in as a buyer!

    Ok - thanks.

In that case, I told Magnoli it sounded good, and that he should make a page on his site for it as I know a bunch of you are interested.
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
Also, Mantis, as you know more about the jacket than I do, maybe you could email him as well (if you haven't already)?
    Thanks!

Here is another alternative to the Chukka boots.
I have used this company many times and cannot fault the quality.

    http://www.samuel-windsor.co.uk/ProductDetailInfoWithOptions.cfm?ID=BV40&ShopRef=73&Prime=Yes&shopListRec=33296

At the moment they are doing buy one and get another pair free, but unfortunately I believe they only ship in the UK

The blue harrington jacket looks to me like it is either suede or moleskin. But it certainly doesnt look like any form of waxed cotton.
