Some of Mark Kermode's opinions are valid, like the rubbish "Another Way to Die" and Marc Foster being out of his depth somewhat in comparison to Martin Campbell and Roger Spottiswoode, especially with the action scenes, but I do not understand the hypobolic, mostly uninformed rantings directed at the otherwise solid Quantum of Solace, a competent sequel that succeeds in carrying on the storyline introduced in Casino Royale.
I liked the animated title sequence done by MK12, even though it it is unfairly lumped in with Alicia Keys' inane warbling, the most misguided choice for a Bond film's acoustics since Éric Serra. Honestly, Alicia Keys was so terrible she makes you long for Sheryl Crow.

Kermode is accurate in his criticisms of QoS. The film is a mess. I share his sense of impassioned disappointment.
By the way, does anyone have any information as to how the film is faring at the box office a couple of weeks after its premiere? I heard that it was doing phenomenally well in its opening few days - on the back of being a 'Bond film', of course, and with so much audience appreciation of Daniel Craig in CR to draw from. But 'word of mouth' that QoS is a disappointment has started to get around - not just among hardcore Bond fans but, crucially, among wider audiences, too - and I'm wondering whether, at this point, this is beginning to affect box office sales.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
Quantum of Solace is getting scores higher than any Brosnan's movies save the overrated GoldenEye and doing well when the global economy has gone down the cr*pper.
