Font of the 'Q' in Quantum...

Afternoon to you all, long time lurker, first time poster...

Does anyone know what font is used for the Q in Quantum on the posters? I read a BBC online article recently that said it was 'Neuraface'(?) but the Q doesn't match. The reason I ask is the same font is obviously used for the lapel badges that Mr Green wears and I know someone who makes pin badges and I was going to try and get some made up...

Any ideas?

Can'r help with the font - except that it's the same (or very similar to the one) that Queen have used since 1984.

But if you look on ebay, the pins have been available for quite a while now.

Yeah, I've seen the pins on there and they are spot on. I happened to mantion them to a friend of mine who says he may be able to produce a large quantity of them, at a much reduced cost then on ebay, if I can get the font style for him.

i would LOVE one of those pin badges but for £39.74 + £12 postage on eBay, i dont think so!

From what i can find on the web it looks as if the "Q" could have been custom-designed. As for the rest of the letters its either Neuraface or Century Gothic

Will do. It depends on how many I irder that will dictate price, but I've done similar in the past and they've never worked out more expensive then £4....so yeah, alot better then ebay!!!!!

And I agree, having searched extensively on the net, I'm convinced the 'Q' is custom. Just waiting to hear if thats gonna be a problem for my mates firm. I'll keep you posted.

    Hi Guys,

This thread never delivered and is years old but I thought I'd ask the question again anyway. Does anyone know what the font is for the 'Q' in Quantum?

Also, while I'm at it, did anyone come across a free Neutraface font, $240 is a little steep.
    Of course you are

Hi Matt, thanks for you response. "uantum" is in Neautrface Bold font agreed, however the "Q" is a different font all together. So the question again is which font is the "Q" in Quantum in?

I figured the Q was custom. Not sure, though.

As a graphic designer I'm almost completely sure it is custom. It would be very difficult to find another "Q" that would balance the rest of the logo so well. Most geometric sans-serif typefaces won't have anything so ornate as the tail of that "Q". The bowl of a Neutraface "O" from a larger size was taken (the stroke is heavier than the other letters in "uantum") and the tail was added. Most characters aren't designed to overlap into the space of another as the tail of the "Q" does. From the days of moveable type this would have been especially challenging.

Right Boys, its on. I've found a free download for Neutraface. Before I post it though, i need to know if I will get in trouble for doing so? Who do I need to speak to here to give me the nod?
