The best commentaries you will hear on a Bond movie. It was these commentaries that had MGM cry foul and the contract cancelled.

Under the heading of "buyer beware," if you're interested in the Criterion content without having to actually acquire the laserdiscs, you might have a look at sites known for bootleg recordings. There are bootleg DVDs available with the forbidden commentary tracks on them. While I have the originals, my laserdisc player hasn't been connected in years, so these are a convenient means of accessing the content. Needless to say, the quality is sub-par, but it beats trying to buy the Criterions and other recordings of the films themselves are, of course, readily available.

Having never seen the Criterion laserdisc of Dr. No, I have never heard the infamous "controversial" commentary track. Why specifically was it so controversial?
