This tie "you wore to death", was this the tie Brosnan wears in the hotel lobby when he is checking out and Chang, the Chinese agent, hands him a box? If so, who made this tie? Does it have a name?

    Thanks

It's T&A and it is from Tomorrow Never Dies when he get the BMW.
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

    Thanks ASP9mm and Monza860.

I think I will try and take some pics of the ties and go to the local Brioni, T&A and Ted Baker suppliers and see if they can source the ties. Unfortunately, we don't have a Tom Ford store here, so looks like I have to travel o/s to purchase them.

At least I hope to be getting the CR Ted Baker tie that has been organised on the other thread. Looking forward to that!

Yep, know the scene. Is this the copper tie as some forum members refer too?

    Yes Copper

Maybe we can get it made again like the TWINE black herringbone tie.

You referring to another block order like the CR Ted Baker tie? Or just going to a T&A supplier, showing the pic, and get them to make one?

Either really, whatever gets the job done.

    PJ,
How did he bring up Bond? Were you talking about the herringbone tie and he went "Oh, the Bond tie!"?
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
Cool! :) That seems to confirm 100% that it is indeed the correct tie (some had reservations about it).

Finally, has anybody seen the new advertising pics from Sony Ericsson showing Daniel Craig wearing a blue-based chequed tie? Anybody know the origins of this? Go to www.sonyericsson.com/bond to see the pic.

That's the tie I've been looking for, it's worn by Craig in the final scene of QoS.

Yay me! =D I just won a free white dress shirt from Turnbull & Asser! I was the among 1 of 125 to be the first to register on their new redesigned website! {[]

Btw, something else I'd like to point out I discovered last night... the Hamburg tie that Brosnan wears in TND does have a blue inner lining (just like that ebay tie satanama posted). Asp's version of the tie was white I believe, so that was the color we indicated to Magnoli... tho no one should lose sleep over this. :p

No, all of mine had a blue lining too. Indy confused the white strengthener that runs through all T&A ties as the lining.

Oh well... I guess no one will notice unless you're climbing the rooftop of a newspaper factory on a windy day. ;)

My Magnoli tie has a dark blue lining too though ?:) I just checked as I thought your statement sounded odd.

To be honest, if I have got it, it will be in the attic somewhere amongst hundreds of boxes and will be a major hassle to look through them all. Sorry. Maybe when I move house early next year {[]

I'll have to check when I get home... maybe I've deluded myself.

Btw, now that I see the ebay pics of the Hamburg tie, I think Magnoli got the weight and thickness pretty damn close. In fact, I honestly thought someone was trying to do a scam by selling the Magnoli as the real deal lol.

I had originally thought the T&A one was a little thicker and heavier (because my Bilbao tie is), but I guess the Hamburg tie wasn't woven as thick. Props to Magnoli :)

This is actually teh tie worn at the Greene Planet party and is from Tom Ford retails about $250

Lol.. and I thought Brioni ties were overpriced ($200).

Appreciate you taking the initiative on this, pete {[]

One of my faves is the TWINE pipeline scene tie, but there's not a lot of great pics of it.
  • Monza860Monza860 USPosts: 501MI6 Agent
The pipeline tie is not a T&A nor is it a Brioni, I will continue to investigate this but until the Blu-ray comes out it's hopeless.

    Monza,
Re: the CR tie... it's a nice enough tie but I found it a less inspired choice for Bond's wardrobe. If I got that I have to admit it would only be because "James Bond wore it!", whereas a lot of the Brosnan era ties I really like are Hemming-commissioned designs which are truly elegant and unique.
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
Pete, looks like you are a pitched bidding battle to get that TND tie! It's already up to $61 (at that price, might as well buy the Magnoli heh heh)

Cool, let us know how it compares if you win it. I know Asp has one too, although I didn't believe how damn near totally accurate Indy's version was until I saw these pics on ebay. I had always thought the weave was extremely close to the original, but the ebay pics also convinced me that the weight and thickness are clearly spot on as well.

Which tie are you talking about? Personally I like the Brosnan era ties but I tend to like the simpler (non loud geometric) DC era tie designs more. But I will take any Bond tie because there all great!
