Liquid Questions

OK, now having seen the movie twice I have two questions for those more observant than me (which is everyone)...what beer was Felix and Bond drinking at the bar and what motor oil does he toss Greene at the end? The motor oil might be made up but perhaps the beer is available?

I did the hat trick today. With apologies to Roger Moore...just keeping up my end.

Anyway...the motor oil appeared to say FORORRO. I did a search for that one and couldn't find anything. Perhaps it is a fictional company.

The beer looked like the last four letters were "C-I-T-A". At the end of the movie there is a list of companies listed. Diageo is one of them. I assume that the mystery brand is one of the lines they rep. The hunt is on...

I'm really surprised the beer wasn't Heineken, perhaps they don't sell that in there country.
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

Just checked Diageo.com and there are no beer matches so we can cross them off the list. They were probably on there because of Smirnoff. Oh well.

Smirnoff, Gordon's Gin, and I believe I seen a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black too.

There is a bolivian beer called PACENA... perhaps that is it...

Well it is not one of Heineken's beers either...just checked their website for the brands brewed in the Americas. No hits. Last four letters were CITA (FO SHO).

Ended in CITA and I believe you may be correct about S being the first letter. Where's Vanna White when we need her?

Not Stella, here's a link to the scene, but I can't tell which brew it is.

saw the clip and was thinking with all the product placements there would be a good chance the beer is a made up name you wouldnt pay good money and then not have your label showing would you

I think you may have a point there. Usually it is obvious...almost to the point of absurdity..."Hi this is Bond, James Bond, and my favorite vodka is Smirnoff." The labels are always clearly shown or are specifically requested...i.e.: "Mount Gay and soda." The label on Bond's beer (I assume it is the same brand as Felix is drinking) is shown but not long enough for me to have read the whole thing.

So the jury is still out but I think it is entirely possible this is a fictional beer. It could also be possible they used a local beer depending on where it was shot. I guess I'll look for Panamanian and Chilean beers today to see if I come up with anything.

The beer bottles aren't that clear but they're best I can find. But they might help point you in the right direction.

While this could be true, I doubt it. It's probably just a brand we're not familar with. Kind of like here in America if we saw half of a Budweiser label we'd know it was a Bud they were drinking w/o showing us the whole label.

I have seen that brand of beer before, or at least one that looks like it. In my university days I was kind of a beer snob. I'll do some asking from a buddy who is still a beer snob.

Sorry folks, the brand is a brand called SERVACIA, which is no brand at all...means beer in Spanish, essentially.

Sadly, with no one falling over themselves to promote the Bond tie-in, it seemed likely to be fake.

Perhaps EON couldn't find a product partner in South American that came up to their standards...

Well, beer in spanish is "cerveza" not "servacia", however if that is what it says on the label, I get it.

It probably wouldn't match the atmosphere of a run down bar...

I'm pretty sure it is "cervezita", which is the diminutive of "cerveza" - beer.
