I take it the sale is over, or was there a coupon code?

It was a sale (black Friday or somesuch), but on the main site it looks like they're doing a "12 days of Christmas" sale, so you might want to hold out to see if any discounts hit for it again. Also, as I was going over my boot, I noticed that endless.com gives the US sizes, not UK. My boot is indeed a 9.5 US, and even though I normally wear a 10.5 US the 9.5 fits perfectly, so these boots DO run big.

Banana Republic has their Mali Low boot in brown suede on sale for 84.99. They look very close and the price is great. I pulled the trigger and will post back when they arrive.
That's a Smith & Wesson, and you've had your six.

Endless.com has the Clarks desert boot for $84.99 with free overnight shipping and free returns. Good to know especially if their sizing is a little big.

Just got my John Whites and I can only say that they are the best buy one can made appart from getting the Church's... they simply are identical tho the Church's at a fraction of the price... a great buy indeed so to those who are thinking about this purchase: go for it, you will not regret it! I put them on with a pair of Sta-Prest (I have an extra pair for sale for those interested) and the Sunspel polo and I could almost fell myself in Port-aux-Princes!!!

    Honestly?

The stitching on the sole in the illustration looks shoddy. I would be careful.

Got the John White pair... they are brilliant. Very good quality. They look exactly the same as the Churchill's III

Got them for £70... so can't complain.
    Keeping the British end up.

I have found that the John White are becoming increasingly loose around the ankle. Has anyone else experienced this, possibly with the Church's too?

Very interesting! I can't remember which UK newspaper it was but they had a double page spread in a weekend edition quite soon after QOS release which covered Bond lifestyle items, included were details of the Ryders. They possibly got wind of the potential interest that way.
Will we see the price of the John White's suddenly go up?
    Dryden: How did he die?
James Bond: Your contact? Not well.
Dryden: Made you feel it, did he? Well, you needn't worry. The second is...
    James Bond: Yes... considerably.

i remeber someone above mentioning these^^
i have them in black and they really aren't bad for the money. I would search ebay for them though much better deals there. they are no way near the quality of the churches(which i own) but I bought them as a "get dirty pair" as bond may find it acceptable to get his dusty in the desert but for me, a student I might add, NOO.

Same here but mine were loose around the ankle right out the box. I am going to return mine.

John White is the best replica... period.

I personally like mine quite a bit. Ankles don't bother me.

I am about to order a pair of the John White chukkas and was wondering what size did you need? For ex., if you wear a size 12 shoe did you order a size 12 boot?

    Thanks

I have discussed this issue with the founder of John White and apparently this looseness is feature and not a flaw of the design.

I love the "Feature" not a "flaw" comment...has been used by many a car salesman...for example when a potential customer sees a dent in the hood of a used car the salesman corrects him and says it isn't a flaw, its a new feature of being an exterior cup holder...

x2 mantis haha this must be a "feature" of the whites they are superior quality boots and so I can't see this being a, ahem "flaw"

I have found a great alternative (IMO) here in the states from Johnston and Murphy:

    http://www.johnstonmurphy.com/product.aspx?c=752&pid=59943&VID=59954

They are slip-on ankle boots with no laces -which Fleming would have preferred ;) and they are EXTREMELY comfortable. I swear by this brand, I buy all of my shoes from them. Best of all they are on sale for $109.00!

The color is great - dark brown waxed suede which can be treated with their "protector" which is stain and water repellant. They are worth a look if some of you guys prefer the same style boot without laces at a great price!

Perhaps I should have put this in the QoS budget section? They look great with my 7 jeans and Brooks Brothers Harrington!

I absolutely LOVE my John Whites and would encourage anyone looking for a replica boot to get a pair. I wear them everywhere, and they are very soft and well-fitting. They size the same as all my other shoes. I also have the CKs, but they are not as good.

The boots from Johntson Murphy are very nice. I bought a pair of the smooth leather (brown) for myself for Christmas and am wearing them right now. I really like them. I am thinking of going for the black version next.

I can't get over how comfortable they are! I bought the black ones too - I couldn't say no to that sale price!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned these yet, but Loake makes a nice looking pair that even has dainite soles:

    http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?brandID=7&catID=20&shoeID=205&selectedSizeID=0&selectedFitID=0

And for $170, they seem to be good quality boots. What do you guys think? (sorry if these have been brought up already)

Anyone own these? Look very similar. Just wondering on the quality.

John White is sold out on walkerandgunn.com in my size. :(

I have a size 10.5 John White that I have been wearing for a few weeks and will sell for a reasonable offer
