Don't waste your money, the quality of Samuel Windsor shoes are terrible. I bought 2 pairs sometime back, including the brown suede chukkas, both pairs went straight back.
Dryden: How did he die?
James Bond: Your contact? Not well.
Dryden: Made you feel it, did he? Well, you needn't worry. The second is...
James Bond: Yes... considerably.
Seconded on the SW chukka's. weigh about half the weight of the Church's, and are rather pointy in the toe. material feels rather thin and insubstantial. Best go for a pair of Herrings own, Whites of the Church's if you can stretch to it.
I bought the Clark's about a couple of months ago and have worn them to the the ground. Now considering another pair that's similar to the Church's. John White doesn't have my size so those are out, but i found two other alternatives. Below are the links. Just looking for some feedback on what you guys think are a closer match the Church's.
quantum, the Calvin Kleins look too pointed at the toe and are oiled rather than straight suede. Look expensive for a pair of boots made in China. The BR boots look better, looks like a Dainite sole ( although pattern is slightly different to the Church's). They look a pretty good boot for the money. http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?brandID=6&catID=84&shoeID=2245&selectedSizeID=0&selectedFitID=0
Herrings have a good reputation, these are probably made in Northampton by one of the shoe makers up there. These look very close to the church's, proper dainite sole, too. earlier poster mentioned them.
Hello fellow Bond fans
I'm now the proud owner of a superb pair of Loake's suede desert boots (chukka) that appear to be a pretty good alternative to the Church's, and...wait for it...for less than £100 (free p and p) in the Joseph Turner online sale: http://www.josephturner.co.uk/JosephTurnerSite/product/Shoes%5FOutdoor/SDBS.htm
Catch them while you can!
People say they are a little lighter than the Church's but they're perfect for me and with the Dainite sole, they seem exactly the same.
Marvellous.

I have just ordered anew pair of Loake Brown Suede Chukka Boots from Herring Shoes. As tempted as I was to go for a pair of Church's Ryder IIIs I don't think I can justify the extra as I'm not sure I will wear them enough. However as a wearer of Loake shoes I have always been happy with the quality of their products.
If anyone is interestedI am happy to give a short review / summary of them once they have arrived and worn them a little? I think they will make a great alternative to Church's version.
Ok will do, I will try and take some pics too. Normally Herrings deliver fast so should have them in a couple of days. I am off to Malta next month so they will get a good airing and breaking in while I'm there.
i managed to get a pair of these for 35 quid in the markies sale, will let you know my thoughts when they arrive, hopefully they are a nice cheap option.
My brown suede Loake Kempton chukka boots arrived today and I am absolutely delighted with them. They are a great fit and considering they are new boots rather comfortable to wear.
They are very close to the Church Ryder IIIs with an identical rubbersole although they are a little lighter in colour and have three rather than two pairs of eyelets. That said I would be happy to state they are an excellent alternative to Church's version if you didn't want to pay Church's prices.
The boots came with a spare set of laces, cotton shoebags and Herrings supplied a free shoehorn.
I have seen these boots retail for around £130 but you can get them from Herrings for £115 with 48 hour delivery within the UK.
Not John White's or Church Ryder's, but as I was walking out of Banana Republic, these caught my eye. They were the last pair, so I bought em. Very pleased with them overall. I discard the slip on top, since my pants are going to be always covering the top.
They're the Herring Strathclydes available from Herring Shoes. I've seen mention of these boots once or twice in this thread (and others), but I haven't seen a full review or comparison of them against the Church's. I'm very curious to hear some owners' comments about these, as they seem to be the closest match to the Ryder IIIs, and they cost 1/3 the price.
DBS I purchased the Herring Strathclydes and they are very comfortable. I like the dark brown and they look great with the dark Seven For All Mankind Mercer jeans.
I would ask you if you could remain emotionally detached. But I don't think that's your problem is it Bond?
As Mantis said, jump on those boots!! For £100 less, that's a great deal! As the Herring site says, these are not second-hand or used shoes, they just have a minor cosmetic flaw(s) that prevent them from passing Church's quality control. According to them, they in no way affect the fit, comfort, or life expectancy of the shoes. GRAB 'EM WHILE YOU CAN!

Paul,
Thanks for your input on the Strathclydes. I'm really on the fence about ordering a pair of these over the Church's. The price is a major plus for the Strathclydes.
Just got them today! Thanks to those who told me to jump on them. Now the quest for Presleys in size 11F begins!
Congrats on the purchase!! Glad you got them. I pulled the trigger on a pair of Church's from Herring Shoes. Ordered on Thursday, and had them on my doorstep yesterday - 4 days from the UK to California, and that includes a US holiday in there! Talk about fast shipping!! These boots are top notch! I love them. I have narrow feet, so even the "F's" are a tad bit wide, but the fit is otherwise superb. I can't wait to break them in. I think they'll mold to my feet beautifully. I'll post some pics of them when I get home tonight - there aren't nearly enough pics in this thread.
For those who have owned their boots for a while, how have they held up? Can anyone recommend a good suede cleaning product to protect and maintain these boots?
Herrings used to carry the Chruch's Presley's, at least until recently. I remember seeing them on their site not more than a few months ago, but they are gone now. I think they were part of the Last 73 Range, which their website states they are getting more of this month. You might want to keep an eye out for the Presley's, or contact Herrings and see if they can special order them. Good Luck.

My research has told me: Avoid Clifford James like the plague as they sell poor quality shoes and have abysmal customer service:

Any one know how close the John White Westbury's are in colour to the Churchs Ryder IIIs?

I have no idea how to post images on here sorry. If anyone can assist I'll gladly add them though.
I saw this and I am wondering if it is to good to be true or should I jump on it right now?
