As I am not an expert on this, could anyone comment on the type of knot DC uses in QoS and CR.

The one he uses in CR is the Four-in Hand, no doubt about it. But in QoS it's neither a Four-in-Hand, nor a Windsor nor a Half Windsor... maybe a Pratt?
