is there any backup of ebay auctions?

I have a problem with a seller on an ebay auction, who described his props to be "screen seen" but sends a COA with the wording "was used in the production/filming of...)"

Now that I discover, that the prop is surely not screen-seen he says, that this has never been told in his auction.

I know, that the web does not loose very much, so is here anyone with knowledge to follow up very old ebay auctions to verify the auction text?

I had a similar problem a long time ago not with a film prop but an item i bought .... not Bond related can you beleive it ... :))

ok so ...... what I did was Contacted eBay's help centre ... choosing the appropriate department etc.. quoted the item ref number and gave them all the info i had and told them the sellers name etc.. and it got sorted out .... however .. thesellr was genuine and it turned out to be an inocent mix up ...

but thats what i thinks the best thing to do.. contact the eBay help centre

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted out... asap

    thanks, SGG.

I have already contacted ebays customer service but they can't provide me anymore with that info.

The auction ended too long ago.

So my monly hope is something, where i can find a backup. I am pretty sure, such a thing exists.

I'll phone my uncle later... tonight when he gets home from work.. he knows a lot about eBay and the like... see what I can find out for you .. if I dont post a reply then I had no joy in finding a solution.....

what was the prop... can't you claim your money back on the grounds of the item being a fake... so to speak... or maybe to a trade or bargin with the seller... how is the sellers feedback ? are they decent etc .?

    thanks..

You could try to Google on the item, using very specific / exact words from the original ad. Google might come up with a 'dead' link, but then has the 'cache' option to load the page.
    It might work, might not...

Anyway, sorry to hear this ! eBay can be a delight, if people are behaving properly. Good luck !

    Thanks SGG and YKTN,

    google was not successfully unfortunately.

The auction is years ago, but I have now hard evidence that the item is not screen seen.
The seller is reputable, but I don't want to disclose him for now.

The dispute is, that I am sure, that it has been sold as "screen-seen" on ebay but the COA says production made/used, which leaves everything open.

So, I'll need the auction text to proof, that it has been describved & sold differently.

You might try the "way back machine", I don't know if it will have the exact page you are looking for but it might be worth a try. Good luck, I hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction.
