Star Wars Marathon

While not as impressive as i_expect_u_2_die's Bond marathon me and my friend (plus my wife for 2.5-6) did a Star Wars movie marathon from Episode I through Episode VI including the new Clone Wars movie.

It was a blast! We went from 8:00am-11:00pm and consumed hours upon hours of Star Wars.

It was fun to catch every time they said "...our only hope" or "I've got a bad feeling about this..." and all the other repeats in all the films.

Also, there is this youtube video taking the 'that's what she said' bit and taking Star Wars quotes to match with it (e.g. 'get in there you big hairy oaf...i don't care what you smell'...wait...'that' what she said' :)) or 'look at the size of that thing'...:o). Anyways, we found like twenty more than we saw on the video from YouTube. If you ever do a Star Wars Marathon...you should try it.

By the way, Clone Wars is not for the average Star Wars fan - definitely aimed at kids. Oh well. 8-)

IT was good stuff. I still hope to do a full Bond marathon (42 hours aye...well I just did 15, I am on my way :007)).

Just thought I would post about the experience.

May the force be with you.

I own all the Star Wars movies on DVD as well (and yes, I even enjoy the prequels) and I've done some three movie marathons, but I don't have the fortitude to sit thru all six at one sitting; I usually start to get a splitting headache at about six hours.

As for the Clone Wars show yes, it is for the kids, but what I find even more disappointing is that the whole thing is rather pointless. No matter how many times our heroes take on General Grievous or Count Dooku, you know that there will be no definitive outcome because they all have to eventually make it to Episode III.

I really wish Lucas would expand his horizons a bit and give us a CGI Star Wars show that takes place prior to Episode I (maybe during the time of the Old Republic) or post Episode VI as that would really free up the writers and hopefuly lead to some fresher storytelling. There's a whole expanded universe of Star Wars characters and adventures to tap into and its a shame that he's being so myopic and focusing exclusively on that brief little period. I fear that the live action Star Wars show (if it ever sees the light of day) will fall into the same trap.

No, I haven't but I just watched Blue Harvest last night and it was pretty funny. I will have to check out the Robot Chicken one sometime.

About episodes 7-9, Lucas has repeatedly said he would make no more after "sith"...however, he said the same thing back in 1981, so...
