    Ready to order.

That pic looks a little washed out. The green is better in this one.

Uh, yeah. Let me rephrase to give credit.

While looking for the link for the sign up page on page two, I just noticed the pic I posted on page three(from my email) was already posted by Donald Grant on page two. Sorry for the repeat.

Didn't notice beforehand as I haven't looked at that page for however long it's been since there was a page three.

Didn't mean to steal your thunder there. I assure you I haven't written any articles about the watches of bond though. Must admit, I did plagiarize Camfan for the link. :p

DZ, the emails still don't say when ordering will commence, just that we will get an email letting us know.

Now that is funny! It's all good. From what Camfam is saying, the strap should be ready soon along with the Corvus Bradley Dive Watch, which I'm anxiously awaiting. I think you'll be able to order the strap in a week or so.

    An update from Camfam:

Here's another teaser photo, a 22mm NATO prototype with the high-quality stainless steel buckle, marked with our Corvus logo. On the back, the buckle proudly says "Made in Britain."

Most of the nylon webbing is done. Phoenix will get it Monday, and will start the fabrication soon afterward. If all goes well, I should be able to ship in about 2 weeks.

I will start taking orders early next week. Sorry for the delay, but I want to have some good photos for everyone to see of both styles before I start the ordering.

You will get a message like this when ordering starts. There will be a discount code in the email for you to use to get the special price of $32 per strap. Only my email subscribers will be getting this code. If you got this email, you are on the email list! Don't forget to use the discount code. Shipping is free in North America. Overseas shipping will be about $12.95 flat rate for any number of straps (US Postal Service Priority Mail International.) Paypal is preferred, but money order in US Dollars is OK too.

Please note that I will only be announcing this to my email subscribers at first. I expect to sell out the first 500 straps quickly, but I will take backorders and will restock within a just a couple weeks. The discount code is good for the foreseeable future, so save it!

Thanks again to all of you for your interest, encouragement and support! I know you will love these straps, and I also can't wait to get on on my wrist.

    Cam and Tom from Corvus

It's up to you. However, I would stick with the rubber strap myself.

I think it would look great, but you might find that watch a bit too heavy to wear on the nylon strap.

My CWC non-date auto is about as heavy as I will go on a nato strap. I'm going to try out this camfam on another one of my dive watches (a big Seiko) but I think it might be too heavy.

The rubber strap does a better job (because of it's thickness) of supporting a heavier watch head.

But by all means try it out and do as you please!
  • Donald GrantDonald Grant U.S.A.Posts: 2,251Quartermasters
Would that be for aesthetic reasons...or is there a another reason why you would suggest that?

thank you for the help with this!

Well, I think the big PO became an iconic Bond watch because of the way DC portrayed Bond in CR, particularly in the way he was introduced. So to my mind, I'd want to wear the big PO on the strap DC wore. Other than that, it's your choice.

Yep, ordering has opened very early this morning. Here is the link to Camfams order page:

If you are on the mailing list you got the discount code. As for me, I'll be getting both styles in 18mm and 20mm. The 18mm RAF style is the most accurate to what Connery wore, but if you don't like gaps get the 20mm size.

Even though I have a later Rolex, for my initial order I purchased the 18 mm RAF style. After all the whole point of the excercise is to duplicate the Sean Connery watchband, much of the charm of the orignal watch and band IS the misfitting strap.

Will be happy to remove the black and grey stripe that's on the watch now. It's pretty worn out!

Yep, that is correct. I placed my order for 4 straps. I got 2 RAF's and 2 NATO G10's. Both in 18mm and 20mm. We have to support the guys who make our Bond dreams a reality.

Hi DG, did you get the grey stripped versions? Looking at Camfam's site, it seems that the green stripped version, RAF, 18mm, is authentically closer to the Goldfinger watch, though aesthetically, it would be the grey stripes that have the "wow" factor in the sweet spot of a fanboy's mind...am I right? This is so much like the lume and gilt deliberations, e.g., how lighting conditions visually altered what we see on the screen.

No, I did not get the grey striped version yet. I was going to order a grey striped 20mm G-10 over the weekend, but they seem to be out at the moment. It was for a mil watch of mine, and I wanted the NATO G-10 look. I think the red/black/grey look is very handsome. As to accuracy, the red/green/black matches a particular screen capture. In other captures the strap looks black with grey to me. Phoenix Straps Ltd. offers the black/grey, however the center black stripe needs to be fatter for screen accuracy. Perhaps someone will make a black/grey with a fat center stripe, or have Phoenix make one. Untill then, I think all of the Corvus and Phoenix Bond Straps are suitable. With the other makers, the colors seem to be just a tad bit off.
