Edward Woodward / as a 00

I remember reading a article stating that Edward Woodward of Equalizer fame was in a series were he portrayed a HMSS assassin am I correct on this? On a side note I imagined that if Bond quit the service like McCall did he would become like the Equalizer. For myself I was a big fan of the series and watched it religiously, he carried a PPK or a PPKS and he drove a Jaguar all in all Robert McCall very cool lol. I hears they were planing a big budget movie any info on this please.

I went to IMDB and checked it out. I think you might be thinking of a show called CI5 The New Professinals. The show synopsis on IMDB reads:

CI5, the British squad formed by George Cowley to combat 'anarchy, acts of terror, crimes against the public', has developed into an international force with operatives hired from around the world by the 1990s. With connections to the FBI, CIA and other law-enforcement agencies, CI5 operates outside borders with a group of specialists under a similar brief. Written by Jack Yan

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The show concerned was called Callan. Woodward played David Callan for a few seasons, and later in a feature film.

Callan was pretty far from Bond, with Woodward playing a working class agent somewhat like Michael Caine's Harry Palmer. The stories were often more morally ambiguous than Bond, and certainly less fantasy driven.

Callan, yes, thats it! Remember the swinging lightbulb being shot on the intro as I watched it as a kid. remember it being far grittier than the Bond films.

Yeah, the intro was great, helped by memorable music- Woodward later recorded the theme with lyrics, as "This Man Alone".

I missed out on the series. Bit before my time, but I've got the movie on DVD. It's well worth a look.
