Levi sta-press alternative

Just to draw your attention to these, Levi 551's. Someone already has mentioned them , i think, but this is a cheap supplier. They are called 'Sand' colour, but looks very much the cream 306's, not like the clour presented at all. They are made of a canvas like material. Measurements look to be the same as 306's across the thigh and ankle. Waist on the 32's is nudging 33 inches. Look very smart with the obligatory Church's. They are running low on stock, but were selling for £ 12.99 delivered for the sand, now gone up to £19.99 delivered for some reason, but still stupidly cheap. http://www.vintagejeanshop.co.uk/userimages/procart75.htm

Are these the real deal because that site is ridiculously cheap?!

And are the items all brand new?

    Great find

Jack, do know where they come from, but they are proper Levi's and are new. Mine did'nt have tags, though. service was excellent. I ordered a second pair yesterday. At that price, its hard to go wrong. I had a similar pair made from this canvas type material in thew 1980's and its really tough, although fairly soft. One thing to bear in mind with this material is there is hardly any stretch in it, so if you are one size, bordering on the next size up, take the slightly larger..

Just looked again at their site. They say they go to their suppliers twice weekly and take what they are given, so seems like end of line stuff, possibly odd sizes and colours, although there seems to all sizes catered for, not just the tiny or the huge.

Cp, did you get them in the end? Reason I ask is I went to order another pair and the 32's were gone so got a pair of 34's for knocking around in. Received them yesterday. They are definatley different from the first pair, although still made in Tunisia. The material looks like a needle cord, softer than the canvas type material, and the colour is creamier. My original pair anr more like the silver birch colour on the 306 sta-prest. Anyway, the second pair was only 12.99, so no big deal, but not quite as nice as the first.

Just spoke with jeas on-line, seems they sent me needle cords by mistake, so hopefully you get the correct ones. They are rectifying this now, cheers, Brixmis.

I picked up a pair of these off Ebay ridiculously cheap -and they are indeed a fantastic alternative to the sta-press. they look great with my M&S shawl collared cardigan.

Agreed Scaramanga1, the colour looks very close to the pictures I have seen of the 306's ( I have a pair coming my way so will be able to confirm) but also fit looks right. Very smart alternative, especially when you factor in price{[]

How dark a cream color are the 306 Sta-Prest jeans when compared to the original 501's in white? Are they darker in color or about the same?

I was checking eu.levi.com (since the only white jeans on us.levi.com are the 501's), and they have a pair of 506 Standard jeans in "Rite White." I was considering these as an alternative to the 501's since the original 306's by now are so scarce. How do these jeans and the 306's compare (in both fit and color)?

Also, one thing I've noticed when wearing any pair of white or very light denim jeans is the tendency for the front pockets to have a "see-through" effect when compared to the rest of my legs. Does this also happen when wearing the 306's?
