Magnoli Nassau Suit

So - my first post - please be gentle - I have been lurking for years.

I have read with interest all the posts and the details all of you go into - it is somewhere between impressive and scary :) - I love the attention to detail!

Anyway - I have read good things about Magnoli Clothiers, and was looking to pick up a replica of the linen suit that DC wore getting off the plane in the Bahamas - and I live in Florida, so it will get some use!

Anyway - I looked at the Nassau Suit from Magnoli, and it just struck me as odd - the front looks great in my opinion - but the back - wow - the faux belt and pleats, and the coat pocket detail just does not look like what I imagine DC was wearing. Same with the pants and the buckle in the back. Also, not as big a deal, but the lapels are "notched" not "peaked", DC's were definitely peaked - like is standard on a double breasted suit.

I agree with those that suggest paying extra for the backing upgrade, and the material upgrade. I also don't care so much that it is 100% authentic, but I would like it to look nice. Every other piece I have (Sunspel polo and t-shirt, Persol Sunglasses, Omega Seamaster and a BMW Z3 (100% scale)) look great - I want this to be the same.

So - the question - do any of you have this suit from Magnoli - and did you have to lay out what changes were made to make it more authentic, and if so - what did you change? Or do some see it differently than I do? Open to advice - net is - I'd like a DC-esque Linen suit that I can wear for years and have it look as good on me as it did on him (or as good as I can get with what the good Lord gave me). Also - if there is a better choice of a place to go - please let me know!

Thanks for any help in advance!

I don't think this suit is in reference to what Bond wears in CR.

Looking at his Nassau suit, I don't think it's supposed to be a replica of the Bahamas arrival suit. Probably just a cool name for a linen suit. You should contact him if you want a replica, he seems open to just about anything, even Joker clothes.

Ahh - I was making an asumption that was incorrect - thanks to both of you for setting me straight. To that - has anyone purchased a "replica" suit like the one DC wears in the Bahamas that can give me some guidance or pointers? Anything is appreciated - thanks!

Don't get the Baron Boutique suit unless they agree to use a different color linen than they advertise. I bought this suit which is actually pretty nice and very accurate except for the Miami Vice-like blue color. The suit DC wore was straight gray, no blue at all.

Yes, I concur. I got the BaronBoutique suit too, and it is blue instead of grey. Still a good suit but not a good replica.

Great - thanks guys - Sounds like Barron with the request of Gray vs. Blue is the way to go. Any other tips on ordering it - like were there upgrades you requested?

    Thanks for all the help!

I didn't request any upgrades. I don't think you need them. Just make sure they give you grey linen and matching buttons, liner, etc. From what I can see the details are correct on the standard suit.
