eBay missed opportunity

I'm new to this eBay lark, only bought my first item this week, a rare copy of Buchan's The Thirty Nine Steps. However, I noticed a recent rarity; an old copy of Live and Let Die, a bit notorious as you have a pale Solitaire in cuffs with negroes making her submit... Well, it's never to early to think about buying Prince Harry a birthday present, and it had 'Buy it Now' on the price...
Does that mean you really can 'buy it now' for the price, and it doesn't go auction? It wasn't going for too much. I didn't get around to it, but I might next time one comes up. They also had From Russia With Love film tie in, but the US one. It didn't hang around...

Yeah, 'Buy It Now' is the same as if you were just buying it from anywhere...but they still congratulate you for 'winning' the item! ) Quite often, you can get pretty cool stuff for not much money.

Cool Moonraker paperback
I always thought it would be great to do a homage to that cover in a new film.

Though much has been made of DAD's appropriation of the basic concept of the MR novel, I'm convinced such a thing could be done---especially in this particular era.
At any rate, it's a great cover B-)

You're probably right...or perhaps he found it in his parents' attic, and overestimated the excitement/demand an old paperback might generate. He'll certainly sell it, but not at that price
I'm very happy to have just successfully bid on a 3 DVD set of The Secret Policeman's Balls, a collection of five comedy shows---benefitting Amnesty International---starring the Pythons, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Rowan Atkinson, et al., plus 'unplugged' musical performance by various rock stars like Sting, Phil Collins and Pete Townsend.
I love these shows---they were just (finally) made available over here on disc last month B-)

I've just bid for an item, a JB book, only to find the next hour that the same one for sale in slightly better condition... X-(
It's like that sketch about the hugely rare Penny Black up for auction, your one chance to buy. Any more bidders? And so on, yes sir, do I hear more... SOLD!
Next item on the list: another rare Penny Black...

Certainly is...I advise caution!
I've got a bunch of Sideshow Bond 12" figures I bought on a lark---including the coveted Desmond Llewellyn "Q"---and I've recently come to realize I'll likely never display them...I'm considering trying to unload them on ebay, as long as I don't take much of a loss...!
The auction process does get the blood moving...

Not at that price, just looked - sold for £132 just happy that I paid nowhere near that price for mine (in slightly better nick too, only slightly mind).
Huh? It went unsold, with no bidders, and then jumped to 132 pounds ?:) Shows you what I know! ;% There's a buyer for everything, I guess, and one never knows. A fortuitous turn for that seller (if he's the same one).
Yeah...ebay is addictive, all right :v

Nice copy.
Here's another rare one from the same seller...it will be interesting to see what price this book goes for...

Anyway, I have a question about a Beatles item on eBay.
I want to buy Sgt Pepper on vinyl mono. There are loads on eBay here, obviously from the same seller and with what looks like the same picture! They're not too pricey but should I be suspicious? It's the ones with the red carpet background. They're not being snapped up at all, which makes me wonder.

All Ebay purchases are to some extent a calculated risk. In looking at that seller he has a 100% positive feedback rating and 8691 individual positive responses so I'd tend to think that he is a relatively safe person to deal with.
In America, if you pay for your auction with PayPal (which is a subsidiary of Ebay) your purchase is protected and if the item is defective or materially different from what is pictured in the auction you can usually get a refund, regardless of the seller's terms. I'd assume there is some similar arrangement on your side of the pond.
I don't even want to begin to think how much my brother and I have spent on Ebay over the years as much of our collection was obtained thru that site; they make it all to easy to blow your cash away.

In other words, nothing will be sold for 0p on eBay anymore, as postage must be factored in?

Nope - you can charge for postage - I did, when I sold my i-phone, as I wanted it special delivery.
Plus the Paypal fees are 10% or so (as well as the e-bay fees, which is 10% also)
I also had a box of very old Bond paperbacks I had stored away and was intending to sell, but they smelled pretty musty so I tossed them. Maybe if I had put them up for sale NP would have picked them up. They had some enticing covers Nap.
BTW any advice for bidding for wristwatches on eBay? I'm not going for a Rolex, but even so might it be a fake? If it goes for around the £50 mark (if that's the rrp I mean) is it likely to be fake?
