Its good to hear that the GL costume will be fairly close to its comics counterpart though I must admit that I really didn't hate that version from the EW cover. Yeah it was different but it also had familiar elements to it, not the least of which was a recognizable and clearly visible emblem (are you listening Christopher Nolan? Probably not.) Given that the suit is a construct of the ring and made of light it makes sense to have it pulse with energy, and this is one instance where I really don't mind taking a little creative license from the comic. There have been endless four color variations on the classic GL design, I see no reason why a live action film should shy away from that.
I just may have to go see Harry Potter now. Since that movie is being released in 3D it's a pretty safe bet that the GL trailer will also be 3D.

Well, guys, the official GREEN LANTERN movie website is finally up but no goodies have been added yet. This one really has me excited; not trying to rush my time but summer '11 can't get here soon enough. I want to witness DC awesomeness! {[]
I really hope that Waller's addition to the cast is a lead-in to SUICIDE SQUAD. I know that Rick Flagg and the crew are on Smallville this season but they really need their own motion picture. B-)

Thanks for the link Rogue; my POS work PC cannot access the site so I'll have to wait till I get home.
All signs point to the first major GL trailer dropping in November so that's when I would expect the site to really go live and start providing content.

Although it's CGI, here's Bruce Timm latest animated series coming to Cartoon Network and the teaser poster below looks very promising. At least it shows Timm's influence. B-)
Today's News: Our TakeExclusive: First Look at Green Lantern: The Animated Series
Oct 7, 2010 12:46 PM ET
by Rich Sands..
Green LanternHere's your first look at Green Lantern: The Animated Series, coming to Cartoon Network in 2011. Warner Bros. Animation, which is producing the show, will preview the upcoming DC Comics adaptation for fans at this weekend's New York Comic Con at the Jacob K. Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side.
Executive producer Bruce Timm — whose infinite credits include the beloved animated series starring Batman, Superman and the Justice League — will headline the panel on Saturday at 2:30pm, alongside producer Giancarlo Volpe (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and producer/story editor Jim Krieg (Ben 10: Alien Swarm). Following the panel, from 4:00 to 5:00pm, the team will be signing posters (with this image) at the DC Comics booth.
Green Lantern, one of DC's most popular superheroes, is a member of an intergalactic police force dedicated to protecting the universe. He wields a power ring that can create hard-light constructs of any object he imagines.
It will be a big year for the character, who also headlines a feature film, opening June 17, 2011 with Ryan Reynolds in the title role.
I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere, but yes, this product does exist. I've yet to buy any though.
Interesting. I've seen the Twinkies packages with Superman and Ding Dongs with Batman; but I had no idea they were repackaging Sno-Balls and Cupcakes to match GL and Flash. Not like I'm buying this stuff. . .no kids and blessed with a middle-aged cholesterol problem. Dammit.

I've never had a Sno-Ball and I'm on Lipitor but dammit, what kind of a Green Lantern fan would I be if I didn't try at least one of those. Just gotta remember to do an extra five minutes on the bike and brush and floss extra thoroughly after trying it out.
Sno-Balls are actually ding dongs with a marshmallow/coconut coating. Supposedly the Crestor I take will allow me to eat such things, but why tempt fate?

Because it Marshmellowy, Chocolatly, Coconuty goodness (ugh, I can't spell worth...... :v ). I don't think I've seen the Flash Cakes. I'll look harder tomorrow night at work.

Here's the first look at Green Lantern's power battery from the new movie. I guess this was shown on the Spike Scream awards. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were also on hand as GL was voted the "Most Anticipated Movie". Let the promotional blitz begin.
Its a little different from the comics version but I like it. The comics version looked looked a little too much like an actual lantern whereas this has a more alien and organic look to it.
Entertainment Tonight has the first look at Green Lantern next Tuesday but here's a preliminary clip. It's from ET so you of course everything is "sexed up" and a lot of stuff is presented out of context; but you still get to see a lot in this including the costume (don't worry, its looks a lot like the comic version, though the green parts seem to pulsate with energy when he uses the ring), some constructs, space travel, and even a peek at OA, Kilowog and other lanterns. Looks promising...
Hmmm. . .from the clips the movie seems to have a "way-too-jokey" vibe ("Dudes, look at me--I'm a super-hero!"), but that could be misleading. Visually, it looks great--I just hope the tone strikes the right balance between action, suspense, and humor.

I got that sense as well but I'm hoping that it's just Entertainment Tonight skewing the clips to their sensibilities as they are notorious for doing that sort of thing. They could also be going for a Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man vibe where Hal starts off as a smart-ass only to finally grow up as the film progresses.

The special effects have WIN all over them! {[] I love the final look of the costume; but like Hardy stated Reynolds schtick to play the jokester makes me abit cautious. The Hal I know is cocky but was never goofy with the delivery like that.
I'd expect that from Guy Gardner though, just not Hal. Although clips can be misleading...

The full Green Lantern trailer is now online and I think that anyone who was worried about the goofy tone of the Entertainment Tonight clips will feel a lot better after seeing this. When viewed within the context of the entire trailer they all make sense. Lots of cool imagery here including good looks at TomarRe, Sinestro, Hector Hammond and the planet Oa.

The trailer shows so much promise for a summer movie blockbuster and I love that its tone is more dramatic than what the ET footage first showed. Reynolds is more Hal-like in character than just playing his usual self. TEAM SINESTRO, baby! Seeing him up close was the icing on the cake! {[]
Hal's costume will take some getting used to although it did benefit from the extra time to tweak it.
Man, movie summer 2010 just might rival the likes of 1989 and 2008. I just hope we're all alive and well to drink it in. B-)

I thought the trailer looked fantastic with a good balance of humor and gravitas and absolutely breathtaking vistas of Oa. I practically got goosbumps at the scenes of Abin Sur passing his ring to Hal ("be one of us"). And it was a treat to actually see Sinestro, Tomar Re and Kilowog realized as live, actual characters. It's just a two minute trailer so of course the final movie could very well feel completely different but based on what I saw I'm really hopeful.
I am amazed, disappointed and just plain disillusioned at the amount of nit-picking that the trailer is getting from the fanboy community online; everything from the CGI looking lousy (it doesn't) to Sinestro's head being too big (it isn't) to the whole thing feeling nothing like the comic (it does). It seems that if a movie doesn't fit the mental image 100% with some of these people, then they will proceed to rip it apart and completely ignore whatever good qualities it may have. Luckily, their contribution to the box office will be all but negligible as the success of movies like this really depends on catching the attention of the general, non-comic book fan audience; thus the casting of Reynolds and Lively, two of the hotter commodities out there right now.
Hopefully WB will be able to tap that mainstream market and promote the movie in such a way that will educate the layperson as to who Green Lantern is, just as Marvel / Paramount were able to do with Iron Man (who was, let's face it, a second tier hero until his cinematic debut). Oh well, whatever else happens, I'll be owning this baby come December 2011 (good thing I got that 3D TV).
Ok, time to get off my soapbox. In the end, the only thing I really don't like ... is that I'll have to wait another 7 months before I see the finished film.
When it comes to the fanboys, normally I just roll my eyes and move on, but the level of nonsense generated by this trailer just seemed to reach new heights ... or depths, depending on how you look at it. Either that or I'm just more out of touch than I thought I was.
One guy actually harped, again and again, on the fact that Hal was standing and not floating in the trailer scenes where he rescues the little boy and kicks Hammond. Another called the whole thing a ripoff of the Fantastic Four simply because there was a scene of a helicopter crashing towards some people at one point.
It seems with each movie the level of nit-picking just gets more and more absurd.

Trailer looks good, can't wait for the movie. A couple of questions though. I've been reading a little about Green Lanterns enemies. I also looked at the cast list. Above, Tony mentioned some people saying Sinestros head was too big. My questions are, at the 1:29 mark, is that Sinestro? If so, is Hector Hammond also shown in the trailer, maybe around the 1:53 mark?

Well my son finally saw it after I picked him up from school. He wasn't actually floored by the trailer in as much as he was stoked at the appearance of Sinestro. He felt that was the highlight of the clip but he also thought the character was the highlight of the First Flight movie as well.
Now knowing him, he could just be playing down a potential threat seeing that he's so engrained in the Marvel religion along with his little tackhead cronies or he just thought it was okay and didn't give him goosebumps like the Thor footage did.
If he compliments anything DC-related, I take it as a plus. I do know once Cap & Thor's official trailers become available and if they're enticing, he's going to talk loads of s*** to no end. )

Just watched the trailer, looked pretty good to me, although I do hope the goofy "hey I can't believe I am a superhero" will be minimal. I did see First Flight, which I liked, and it appears some of that storyline is present here as well. My only negative is I didn't get a warm feeling for the female who appeared to be his girlfriend. Definitly looking forward to it.
That shot of Sinestro looks great and shows the tweeks to the costume nicely. I got onto the GL wagon a bit late (with the Sinestro corps war) Hector Hammonds eyes look yellow in that mutated pic is that true in the comics or forshadowing of

After years, nay, decades of scrounging around for some good Green Lantern media and content he now seems to be coming out of the walls.
