a quick note to everyone who has the lands end jacket or getting it, to make it look just a little bit more like the TF one you can tuck the pocket flaps into the pocket.

Thanks for the images TGF, much appreciated. One thing I didn't like about many of the Harrington jackets I found online was the elastic waist. However, looking at your images, it's virtually unnoticeable. Thanks again!!
A word of warning: the reason you didn't see any elastic in the pics is because there is no elastic on the front. The back does have elastic, although it doesn't really detract from the overall look IMO. I can post a shot or two of the back if you guys want.

Too funny. I bought the Club Jacket before I saw this thread because I was looking for an rough approximation of Jason Bourne's jacket and didn't want to spill $350 for the Magnoli (nice as his work may be).

Got mine in green, and it's a very nice casual jacket, and very utilitarian.

And now I want both the Magnoli QoS and Bourne jackets!!! Just goes to show you how deep the collecting addiction goes....

    Got mine today!
I get Lands End all the time. Never thought of the jacket.
    Thanks for the find!

For anyone who has purchased a Lands End jacket and can describe how it fits... If I wear a 38R in a suit jacket, and generally get a medium for outerwear jackets, would the medium size be the right choice? Or should I go with a small? Thanks in advance!
  • walther p99walther p99 NJPosts: 3,416MI6 Agent
I usually wear a medium jacket, but i wanted it to fit snug like Craig's did so opted for small and im glad i did cause mine fits exactly like his, snug but with some room. hope that helps.

Thanks for the input, walther! Still haven't ordered one yet, but I did pick up a nice "close enough" Quantum style overcoat the other day.

Received my Lands End jacket today... I'm pretty happy with it. I would definitely consider going a size lower than usual. I'm usually between a Small and Medium (I'm 5'8, 180 lbs - all muscle of course), and this jacket could actually be taken in just a bit more.

I'll post some pics of the Lands End jacket and my Magnoli Casino Royale leather jacket in the next few days!

Might I ask if you purchased a small or medium? I'm about 5-8" to 5-7" and only about 140 pounds toned, so if you purchased a small I may be out of luck.

Was considering purchasing the jacket, but if I'm going to spend a ton on alterations I might as well get a MTM jacket from Magnoli.
  • ABeech007ABeech007 New England, USPosts: 30MI6 Agent
Aha - it might've helped if I had revealed which one I ultimately went with... I went with the small.

I said that it COULD be taken in a bit more, but I don't mean that it NEEDS to be... I think the fit is perfectly acceptable. I may be 180 lbs but I'm about a 33 waist... so unless you are very thin I think the jacket will work well without alterations.

Okay, good to know. Thanks for the info!

I may give the jacket a shot, but if anyone is aware of a fitted or smaller jacket in the style of the blue or black don't hesitate to post.

We shorter men enjoy the bond swagger just as much! ;);)

While at the local shopping mall yesterday I found another option.. although not as cheap as the Land's End, Brooks Brothers also has put out a very fine jacket in the same style.. ( dark Navy in color).. No elastic...which is good, but still has the flap pockets instead of slash pockets.. the flaps on this one are a smidge wider than the pockets' mouth so tucking the flaps in, as you can with Lands End's offering is not a possibility.. anyway, one thing I am interested in is that I have yet to find photos online of the back of the QOS jacket, but I read somewhere that there is a "wavy seam" across the back ? anyone confirm this ? Reason I ask is that the Brooks Brothers jacket also has a wavy seam across the rear yoke. Very fine quality garment ( as always with their stuff) but expensive in comparison than the other options listed here with a retail of $198.00

Brooks Brothers is overpriced for their quality. I never quite understood the buzz about their products. I'd sooner go for a MTM jacket for a hundred more than a RTW, OTR jacket.

The Tom Ford pockets were flap as well...they tucked them in at certain points which makes them look like hash pockets...

Placed an order for the Land's End jacket in small. Can't wait!

Mine came in today, thanks to Phil (Half Hitman, Half Monk). It's a great jacket and very comfortable. :D

I can see myself wearing this jacket quite a lot coming summer. Mind you I'm going to have to resist the urge to shoot everybody and to blow everything up while wearing it though.

Thanks a million, Phil. I owe you one.

Glad you like it! It's a nice affordable way to keep oneself from pulling the trigger on that Magnoli version...

My LE jacket arrived yesterday and it fits perfectly. I ordered a M. My suit coat size is roughly a 41R (sometimes I can wear a 40R, sometimes its 42R depending on shoulder width). The LE jacket is great and I thank everyone for recommending it.

My jacket came and it's very nice. I'm a bit on the short side (5" 7' ish) but a small fits rather nicely. Only thing I have an issue with are the sleeves. While the jacket fits nicely on the body, the sleeves seem disproportionately long. I may see if I can have them tailored, but I'm not looking to drop a ton of money on a jacket.

I really like the jacket and I recommend it to anyone who wants a nice jacket very similar to the one in the movie or just a stylish light jacket for the spring.

I got my Lands End jacket and it is nice sans the zipper. I plan to see if my tailor can replace it with a navy blue one and give it a custom fit for me. I plan to remove the pocket flap too.

Let me know what that runs. The zipper's the main gripe for me as well.

Not really budget, but I thought it was funny that I got an email today from Baracuta using the DC photo from QoS saying they now are selling the "Slimfit G4 in the style of QoS."
    http://www.baracuta-g9.com/v2/shop/view_product.php?id=1685

Sort of sucks since I've had the G4 in dark navy for a few months and had to get it tailored to fit less baggy (after ordering 2 sizes smaller than my usual), when all I had to do was wait 6 months. :))

Has anyone ordered and received the Magnoli Quantum Jacket? I've ordered and curious how it's going to turn out. Thanks.

Love mine. Expensive, but pretty damn cool.

Is it made from the same material as the TF version?

I have a pair of Prada trousers that are made from Polyamide. The TF jacket material looks to me to be a similar material. Either that or Polyester.

The Lands End jacket looks like cotton.
  • Mister WhiteMister White The NetherlandsPosts: 814MI6 Agent
The Lands End jacket has a cotton outer shell and a nylon lining.

Nylon being the name people actually understand in stead of the fancy-pants word Polyamide, wich is essentially the same. :v

However, as they are from Prada, I take it those are indeed some fancy pants... ;)
