I just got back from a Banana Republic outlet store and they had a navy Baracuta. It had G4 style cuffs/sleeves and G9 style hem/waist band.
Edit: Price was $49 or $79, I didn't see the price tag clearly. Also today is the last day for 40% off the whole store, but their outlets have these sales pretty often.
Hello all - taking the Mantis lead on Bond on a Budget try this little lot out:
I was in T.M. Lewin today they have as follows:

Slim fit pleated evening shirts - QOS opera scene type - 25.00.
Midnight Blue Herringbone ties - £25.00.
Also -
Levis - Dockers, slim fit, no pleat stretch crease resist make a good alternative to Levis Sta Prest from QoS - £35.00 - £50.00.
Austin Reed - Slim fit Pima Cotton Polos with Pocket - good alternative to Sunspel - £20.00 each.
Austin Reed - Double breasted pea coat - CR type - £50.00 - £75.00.
Austin Reed - Knitwear sale - Cardigans - Navy and Black.
Austin Reed - Churchs "Robbie" Suede Chukka - £100.00.
M&S - Sly Blue "Autograph" Dressing Gown - CR Type.
Was looking in Banana Republic and found that they have come out with a jacket for their Winter 2009 season which very closely resembles the QOS Tom Ford Jacket.
When I tried it on, it looked just like the movie version.
The only differences I could find were the inner flap under the zipper and the collar tab which is extended only on the left instead of both sides like the QOS/Magnoli version.
Great find sir.
But there aren't pictures of the pocket breast. I can't see if they are similar to TF jacket or similar to Baracuta jacket.
The BR version does not have flaps like the Baracuta version:
(Shown in tan so flaps would be visible)
The BR version has simple loops like the photo:
I picked mine up today and it not only looks like the Tom Ford jacket but when I pair it with a pair of my 7 For All Mankind Chicago jeans, it makes me feel like 007 in Bolivia. If anyone can PM me how to post photos of myself on a thread, I'll put some better shots up of the jacket.
Although the shell of the jacket is 100% polyester (and I know the argument from a previous thread, that 007 wouldn't be caught dead in polyester), the polyester gives an added benefit. The shell is completely waterproof. I poured a glass of water onto the sleeve to test it, and the water simply rolled right off without a drop left. The sleeve didn't even feel damp afterward. A great benefit for those in rainy climates (like here in the Bay Area during the winter season where we get rain instead of snow)
Currently on sale for $20! Order with coupon code for free shipping over $50. You can pick up a decent close enough navy polo for CR and long sleeve light blue polo long sleeve for QOS look too.

What is the coupon code for free shipping? I don't see one posted on this thread (at least not a recent one).
I got mine on sale for $20.00! the fit is a bit big.. I got a medium, and in retrospect, I think I should have gone for the small. However, I did wash it inside out in hot water and threw it in the dryer on high, and the fit got better. Lands End brings this item back every fall / winter, so I may just bite the bullet and pick up another in small when they come back around... it's still cheaper than most of the alternatives!

I bought one this weekend---online so, I 'll have to wait for it to come it. But, they only had Medium or larger left on-line. I am a medium so I went with it, but I had the thought of getting the small had it been available. But, for $20 and free shipping I couldn't go wrong.
They seem to re-post the jacket every time they find some stock left on a shelf, so I'd keep checking for a week or two. A week and a half ago it was sold out, then the part showed up again with medium green (I've been wearing the blue one almost daily so I picked that one up), then nothing, then blue large a couple of days ago, then nothing again. I'm guessing there are a handful left on a shelf somewhere that don't show up in formal stock.
Has anyone tried on the Gap harringtons? I know they aren't screen accurate, but I was just wondering if they were decent jackets and fit the general style?
I tried one on today. They run small in size so they are great for that fitted look. I kind of liked it but not a fan of the zipper. I think the blue looks better.

Definitely the right style jacket, very heavy duty looking. Not sure about that line across the back, though, and the pockets are really hard to see in the pictures, so it's hard to make a call on that one. I don't own this, so I don't know how it fits, but it does say "tailored fit."
interestingly enough, that's a new, slightly different jacket. The lining is different, and the old one certainly didn't have a "tailored" fit. When you get it, please let us know how it fits! I normally wear a medium, but the old jacket was too big in that size for me! Wonder if I should get a medium or a small in this one?
Then again, I'm not so sure about that new lands end "canvas" collection jacket. It is hard to see at first, but I'm pretty sure that the collar only extends on one of the sides (the left one). It can be seen if you zoom in far enough. Looks like I'll be steering clear of this one, although out of all the harrington style jackets I've seen online, this seems to be the one that is best at capturing that rugged look. At least it seems that way from the pictures.
I have found the exact jacket...At Banana Republic for $90 I bought it yesturday. And I am convinced this is the actual jacket that was used. If it is not than it is a copy cat. As soon as I figure out or someone can explain to me how to share photos, I will share it with you. The jacket is callednylon bomber jacket item number 700069001 And if you look at the craig photo you can see where the buttons used to be and the button clasp tucked in his pocket. The burn marks on the craig jacket are burned just like a nylon jacket would burn, not a cotton or what have you. It is a sweet jacket for a great price.
I do not know, I have never felt or seen the jacket Craig wore in the film in person...Have you? All I am saying is when you see the jacket that I bought, you will be blown away to its exact look. And I know how nylon burns. You will have to look at a pic of my jacket and put it next to the craif photo in the desert holding the gun. It is crazy. But I have no idea what the materials used to make the craig jacket are because I have not seen it. Many times they have clothes and then make copies of clothes to destroy in the film, this may be one? I am not sure.

Ah you lives and learns eh?
Does anyone else think that the TF jackets outer layer looks like Nylon?
To me the material doesn't resemble the Lands End cotton jacket.
