If you look earlier in the thread I have posted pictures of my LE jacket.

I'm still very happy with my LE jacket, curtesy of Half Hitman, Half Monk.

I'm a tecaher and I wore it most of the summer last year. At one point one of the children at my school came up to me and asked me if I was wearing the same jacket as James Bond.

Now I could have bored him and pointed out that it wasn't the actual jacket, but a cheaper version, bla, bla, bla...

But I just said: "Yes, it is! Thanks for noticing."
"Christ, I miss the Cold War."

Club Monaco has a Harrington jacket out now that I bought. It is a very close look. It even has besomed pockets like the TF. The only real style difference is that it has a 2-button Baracuta style throat latch instead of the 1-button TF style. Comes in navy and tan. About $100.

Is this the Lands End Harrington jacket that members here have been talking about?

    http://www.landsend.com/pp/StormerRainJacket~206663_59.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::TVY&CM_MERCH=IDX_00001__0000000043

If so, I have to say that I'm not a fan of this version. Albeit, it is THE twin jacket of the Barracuta G-9 (minus the elastic cuffs). But as for a QoS alternative, I think there are better options out there.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

No, it is not. The new president as I stated is a 007 fan. The polo that I purchased today is an exact replica of the polo worn by DC. As is the jacket now sold at the landsend canvas store. If it was not awsome, I wouls not be goind to buy it tomorrow.

Is this "awesome" jacket the same LE jacket that has been seen in previous posts or have LE updated the jacket? If so can you please post a link as I'm sure many of us would like to check it out. Thanks.

Incidentaly I will be visiting the London Banana Republic store in Regent St next month when I willl be in the area and will be on the lookout for the Bond alternatives mentioned previously and will post my findings.

Hope you all had a good Easter.

I was at Holt Renfrew Montreal a PS by Paul Smith jacket that looked very nice, and the fabrics were of the highest quality, but it was beige and I don't know if they make it in blue.

I posted pics on here showing the alternative from BR in black and I am know saying LE has a true Navy one with a high collar that looks nice.

Good call, that is it. The only downside is that it is a much lighter blue in the store. But that is what dye is for. Not to mention that the liner is ugly.

    Ok. Thanks guys.

Just thought i would add my view to the QOS jacket......

As soon as the movie stills started comming out the blue jacket was the thing that stood out for me and i started looking for alternatives straight away. I've always gone for the "style" of clothing rather than 100% screen accurate stuff so it was always going to be easier for me to find something. For example, my jeans are "easy fit" from Gap and my cardi is the good old Zara.

After some searching and a bit of thinking i opted for an Original Barracuta G9 as it seemed stupid to me to buy a jacket that at the end of the day are all copies of the Barracuta (if what i have read is true this is the original of that style) and it made me laugh when i saw they had made a Tom Ford lookalike inspired by their own jacket!

Anyhow, i love the jacket and couldnt recomend it enough! It can be worn with shoes for a smarter look but still looks good with a pair of trainers and a t-shirt for footy down the pub. A lot of people seem to be put off by the tartan lining but it looks MUCH better on, especialy when the zip is done up about 5 inches from the top so you just have a bit showing.

With its elastic cuffs and bottom, along with the tartan inside its by no means a screen accurate jacket but it you want one that serves for the "look" of the bond jacket, i would pay the little extra for the Barracuta. At the end of the day, if its good enough for Steve McQueen and Sinatra.......
  • MI6BOND007MI6BOND007 WORLDWIDEPosts: 61MI6 Agent
Well put, Mcqueen and Sinatra wore them religeously. And it would seem a copy of a copy and so on. I could not have said it better myself. I will say that at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good about what we wear and that it is bondish(Not bondage for all you freaks)and that is all that matters. And with the new film comiing up, everyone should be saving up for the new gear.

You know, I watched Quantum again and his jacket and polo are so deep of a blue that you could not tell if it were black or blue. Does anyone have any pics of the jacket from behind?

This is the model that I own too. After my Sunspel Polo, this is the best 007-style clothing purchase I've made yet. Despite the cosmetic differences like the one-sided extended collar tab rather than the double-extended collar tab on the actual QoS jacket and the polyester shell (though this feature does make the jacket 100% waterproof), the cut makes it look exactly like the movie version on me.

I am completely happy with the purchase, I am going to buy the navy blue one as well from lands end. I bought the jersey polo from them in navy and I cut off the buttons and sewed on clear navy ones that are exact replica of the sunspel buttons minus the sunspel writing.

Let me know if it is faded lighter than the picture. I saw it at the store and it was way lighter, you would have to dye it to be happy.

Will do. I'll post pics and write a detailed description for you.

I called and complained as to why the one in the store is so different in color and they not only gave me free shipping on the order, they gave me 20% off for the jacket and they only have thirty left. They are picking out the deepest navy they have. It helps when you live in the same state as the company. Also, I found someone who will make the exact replica of the quantum jacket in heavy or light cotton for only $125. Anyone interested, contact me storm1157@att.net or leave me your email in a post.

I hate when companies use photoshop to display the different color offerings of an item on their website. Always a bad idea.

I will let you know what it looks like when I get it in two days.

I do not know where the quantum shoe post is, but I thought that you guys would get a kick(no pun intended)out of these.

I just received my jacket from LE and it payed to have them check the 30 jackets that they had left to find the darkest one. It is so dark, it is almost black. I am happy. And the fit feels again like it was tailored. I will take some pics soon and post them.

I don't understand why they have the same jacket in so many varying shades of a color.

A friend of mine just received his NAVY LE jacket and it was perfectly matched to the one I received way back when...no color variation.

The one in the stores is faded, and if you order, I would specify only the dark color.

So do you just send a private e-mail along with the order saying, "I'd like the darkest you have?"
  • MI6BOND007MI6BOND007 WORLDWIDEPosts: 61MI6 Agent
No, you call and order it over the phone, then they transfer you to the warehouse, then they go and pick it out. That is service. Just say that Christian Storm sent you and that I recommended the jacket. It is soooo sweet. Now I am going to buy the boots. This summer I will be buying the whole line from Magnoli. And again, if any of you are interested in buying a custom made one fit to you for $125 email me at storm1157@att.net. I know someone who is making them out of light or heavy cotton.
