Terrible news out of Canada; actress Natasha Richardson's condition has reportedly deteriorated following a skiing accident...

A recent update from cable news has said that the actress has been diagnosed as having no brain activity, and will be flown to New York, where she is likely to be removed from life support. :(

Richardson, the daughter of director Tony Richardson and actress Vanessa Redgrave, is part of a British show business dynasty. She is married to actor Liam Neeson; they have two sons.

Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to Ms. Richardson's family during this difficult time.

Aw hell. I was hoping she would be okay. Certainly the media over here aren't giving anything away. She's been in a few films I've liked, Gothic, A Month in the Country and The Comfort of Strangers. A miracle right about now would be very welcome.

I have to say that over in the UK we seem to be having a glut of truly depressing or disturbing news today, and this is yet another one.

According to todays Times this info was supposedly from "a Family Friend" and has not been confirmed by any reliable source. Her husband was at her side when she was flown to New York.

    Hopefully she will still recover.

It's a time for prayer, for those so inclined.

I saw an interview with a neurologist who explained the difference between a concussion and inter-cranial bleeding, which puts terrible pressure on brain tissue and can cause irreversible damage. The doctor was quick to point out that he wasn't 100% familiar with Ms. Richardson's case specifically, so there is always hope, and naturally her family has the means to take whatever measures are necessary, both short- and long-term, to see that she has every chance of recovery.

What a terrible tragedy, very sad indeed.

I really feel for Liam Neeson and her children.

Terrible news. She was an excellent actress and a beautiful woman. I feel awful for Liam Neeson and his sons. My prayers will be offered for them this evening.

As an aside, many of you will no doubt recall that Liam Neeson was considered for the James Bond role when Goldeneye came out in 1995.

Indeed, it's sad--she was a talented actress and very beautiful. It's also a reminder of how frail we all are--one little snap and it can all be over. Here's hoping we all live to see tomorrow.

I am so bummed out about this. Can you imagine making that decision to take her off life support? God, my heart aches for them. What a loss.

:'( That's terrible. I had no idea that she was even in this condition until yesterday, and to discover now that she died, is quite shocking. It's interesting as, although I'm sure I've seen her in numerous films, I'm more familiar with her as the wife of Liam Neeson; an actor whom I tremendously respect. Anyway my point is that while I am genuinely horrified by Natasha Richardson's death, I am even more so considering she is Neeson's wife. :'(

RIP. -{ You died far too young.

    Yes, tragic news.

I can't help but think of Liam's role in 'Love Actually' where he plays the part of a man who has just lost his wife, and the very moving funeral scene. To think that he has to do this now for real is so, so sad.

This says it all really. My heart goes out to her family, as it's them now that has to deal with the heart break.

I was very sory to hear the news that she had sadly died.

I remember Natasha from "The Parent Trap" and thought what a beautiful woman she was in the film.

She was taken too young from us.

This is kind of related to Natasha Richardson's death. Recently in Australia, a young boy was taken to his local GP after falling off a pushbike and it was revealed that he had severe bleeding on the brain. The extraordinary GP, in an attempt to ease pressure on the brain, used a household drill from the Hospital maintenance department to bore a hole in his skull, and ended up saving his life! :D
