Am I allowed to post more as I have already replied once?

Here goes anyway, more pet peeves:

Imigrants illegal or otherwise who are actually desperate to get over here but when they get here all they do is complain about our way of life and belive we all deserve to die so they start blowing up public transport.

    The entire justice system.

Chavs who get away with assualt, G/ABH and much worse just because they are seen as 'misguided youths' whereas I would get punished for the same act severly.

    Football in general, especially firms.

Young kids who think they are gangsters because they carry a kitchen knife and a fake 9mm pistol around with them, if only Marlon Brando was still alive, he could show them what a real gangster looks like :p

People who pip there car horns at me when Im crossing the road and shout at me even though they either ran the red lights or forgot to indicate.

The chavs who threw paint over my dads car and smashed the window.

The old bitch round the corner who threatened to get my dog put down because he barked loudly once at her dog from inside my house when she passed the window.

    The government

    The royal family

    Amanda Holden

    Kelly Brook

Althose failing american popstars who are constantly over the news and magazines because they fear they may be having 'yet another breakdown' I mean seriously, they have everything and still arent happy, christ if they are that hard up living the good life then they should try living in britain as a normal person for a day, they wouldnt survive!

Religion, or rather the power that it has, it shouldnt have any.

The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, again about religion, I belive they shouldn't be allowed to show up on my doorstep and try to force their faith onto me, its disgusting, and they wont take no for an answer, and if you try to argue that their religion and the bible just contradicts istelf they whack out their made up bible that they have made solely to fix those little inadequacies and contradictions in the original one!

Thats all for now, I'm sure i'll think up some more soon though {[]

Pet Peeve? Government grants for students!

Why are grants a bad thing? I suppose they're only a good thing when you qualify. that is to say you're broke and have a minimum income. However, if you're broke and have a moderate income then you don't qualify for a grant, you have to take out a student loan.

When I started my first college degree program twelve years ago, I had to take out student loans because my middle-class income disqualified me for grants. Meanwhile, sitting next to me in my classes was a guy (thirty-something) who was receiving grant money to go school because he wasn't working (read 'not paying income tax'). This guy was getting the same education that I was for FREE while I took on the challenging task of balancing a full-time job and full-time student responsibilities (and paying income taxes). This student, along with a couple other grant recipients, dropped out of the program about halfway through (why shouldn't they? they really had nothing invested in it) - leaving the bill for the wasted tuition in the hands of hard-working taxpayers. Some grant recipients did graduate, however, and went on to apply for the same jobs that I applied for, and receive the same salary that I received with my new degree. The only difference? I'm saddled with student loans and have to pay back the tuition and they don't. X-(

The student grant and student loan program is patently unfair. The only way to acheive fairness is to offer only one or the other. In these current fiscal times, I support dumping educational grants and offering only loans, that way everyone has the opportunity for higher education, but with an actual incentive to succeed at their endeavor. Scholarships are also acceptable because they reward and demand performance.

Rant over. Barry's right, I do feel better.

I have a massive pet peeve. At my Uni library, I get a receipt whenever I borrow an item. The thing is however I neither ask nor desire one. :s It's a waste of paper; I don't need it and so I simply throw it away; it wastes time; and did I mention that it's a waste of paper? What annoys me is that it happens automatically. One would think that the university would create a system which allows for receipts to be refused, but that would be far too logical and efficient. 8-)

I'm not accusing you of being racist. Obviously having people come in and kill is a huge peeve. :)) I was just struck by your use of the phrase 'I'm not ... but.' It seems to me that often when people say that, they are it. My point is that you should simply say what you were going to say, and let others judge on whether you're being racist or not. If you feel the need to say 'I'm not racist but' then maybe don't say it.

With regards to saying 'no offence but,' whenever I hear someone say it, I automatically know that I should take offence. :# :))

Looks like people saying, "No offence but..." Is one of your own pet peeves hehe!

While we're at it another pet peeve of mine is Zolly Becker (whom you may remember from an angry video cast he made upon the release of Casino Royale) as well as fanboys in general.

Used in Christopher Wood's The Spy Who Loved Me in which the KGB guards address Anya after they try to torture Bond with electrodes... '... the voice contained little respect.'

Another pet peeve? People who say "Star Track" when they should be saying "Star Trek". It's Trek, as in a voyage or a trip; not Track. Its bad enough when the average guy on the street gets it wrong, but even the director of the Star Trek Experience was saying it.

Get it right people, it's Star Trek!

What annoys me is that when DCI Gene Hunt makes sexist, racist, homophobic remarks, all the women swoon, but when I do it I get a P45!

Lately things related to my computer have been annoying me, like if you download some software the company tries to sneak in some other software you don't want, like a toolbar. I also don't like how everyone wants their software to be loaded into the start file. You start your computer and all sorts of software starts running that you really don't want, which also slows down the operation. In addition, sometimes you download an upgrade to a software and then when you want use it to run something it tells you the program you want to run is not compatible with the version of software you are running. I don't need aggravation when I am on my computer, I just want things to work well.

    Manchester United fans :)

    hey now :p :))

People who do the "well, I'm not racist, I have Black friends" or "I'm not a homophobe, I have gay friends" thing...
really? do you HAVE to act like they're trophies or something? I have FRIENDS...don't care if they're gay...I just want them to be happy. sorry. people in one of my classes said stuff like this all the time, and I wanted to smack them :v

Drunk Hobos at the Outdoor Cinema who have an issue with someone and proceed to ruin the movie for EVERYONE by shouting at said person

People who make asinine comments about my art and then get all offended when I defend it

The Art Department at my Uni. two months people? really? don't you want people to be able to take your classes? and then when I FINALLY get a hold of you, you treat me like I'm five. awesome.

When my mother laughs, giggles and makes snide comments about my shows and then gets all offended when I jokingly do the same to hers. I watch things like Ghost Hunters, and I believe VERY strongly in the Paranormal...she says she does but then makes comments like "oh, what stupid thing are they doing now?" "That isn't even real..." and LAUGHS and says "Oh, that looks so fake..." OK, mother. first off, I think that the GH and GHI teams are the best in that business. Second, you should respect my beliefs. Third, sure. they have to showboat a little. they're on TV for cripes sakes. Fourth. the evidence they get is pretty concrete. If you don't believe, don't watch. It's that simple.

People who sign up for Archaeology field school (without taking a field methods class as well), don't pull their weight and then spend the entire month complaining when people are annoyed with them for not doing anything. and then, to top it off, they sit around reading novels on final lab day when everyone else is running around in a dither 'cause there is a ton of stuff to be done. Sorry, kid. you're not cut out for this field. not by a long shot.

People who refuse to take my temp. ID (even in conjunction with another photo ID) which was issued by the state to be used to identify yourself while your new ID is being made and is in every way the same as a photo ID...all I wanted were some drinks at a festival with my friends on my 21st birthday. Is that too much to ask?

My friend's idiot boyfriend (who I didn't invite to an anthropology dept. party, but she wanted him there, and I had invited her, so I was nice about it) who starts to correct my professors on Anthropology matters. No, Austin. these people really are smarter than you. deal with it.

People who come to Renaissance Festivals and then laugh at the "weirdos" who dress up. No, sorry. today, you're weird for dressing "normally"...please don't anger the nerds with weapons. Not a good idea.

People who assume my friends and I smoke 'cause we dress like punks and goths, and then get all angry at us when we don't have a cigarette for them to mooch. Hey buddy, we'll gladly give you a light though.

People who assume my Gothic friends are Satan worshipers 'cause they dress in spikes and black clothing.

    yeah. long one. sorry, guys.

Mr Arlington Beech's recent thread reminded me of another pet peeve. I hate it when people say 'French Champagne.' :s If it's not French, it's not Champagne! It infuriates me, as whilst I am not a wine snob, it is one thing which I think should be obvious to even the most casual drinker. Plus, it sounds so snobbish; 'Tina, my dear, I just had the most delightful French Champagne.' No, you had the most delightful Champagne! X-(

    1. Most animated shows and movies made during the past 40 years.

    2. Lousy advertising in all media.

    3. Flavor of the month books that stupid people take forever to read, or never finish, just to feel smart.

    4. The left wingers.

    5. Religion.

    6. Mayonniase.

People who say they're going to call, but take forever to call back. Sitting here waiting for a call and it's driving me the wall.

I also called someone yesterday and told the machine when I'd be home. I guess when the machine told the party about my call, it forgot to tell them when I'd be home. Stupid forgetful answering machines.

Allright, so you've bought the boxset. Now you want to know that first movie's duration. (maybe you have something crazy to do after. Like say, work)

You look and see ... 389 minutes. The total sum of all discs.

Wonderful. That helps me a lot.
