Is DC really wearing sta-prest?

I've re-watched QoS on dvd and to my amazement, the scenes where you see DC wearing the white pants does not have the black tab on the right rear pocket. The only scene where the black tab can be seen is during the motorcycle jump scene.

Do you guys think that the costume designers purposely cut off the tab or could it be a different pair altogether?

Yes they cut off tabs and evidence of label on MANY of the costumes...even if the labels were just on the interior in many cases. It was a hit and miss it seems.

After trying on a pair of sta-prest myself I seriously doubt these were worn in the film as they're skin tight.

I'm not a big guy at all and I couldn't sit down in the things as they were unbelievably tight around the thighs & calves.

The 306's used in the film are actally pretty roomy, and I've got pretty big thighs. They definately run larger than stated, as is well documented. Maybe you tried the 305's, which are slim fit and I had the same experience as you when i tried them on.

Just checked and you're right, the one I tried were the sand coloured 305's. I wasn't aware that the fit of the 306's would be roomier.

Thanks for clearing that up mate.

Yep, those 305's are pretty slim fit. The 306's are difficult to find now. Even the Regent St. levi store confused 305 and 306's, when they told me they had some in stock. I asked the sales guy on the phone to check they were definatley 306's and he come back, saying 'sorry, they are 305's'. They are not sure when they are getting them back in, and according to Levi Strauss , the only definate 306 orders are for dark coloured ones. They ended up discounting the old silver birch ones ( cream), so they probably wont be making anymore in that colour anytime soon. Keep an eye out on ebay!

How does the fit of the STA-PREST 306 compare to the original Levi's 501 Button Fly jeans? Is the 306 roomier in the seat and legs or about the same as the 501?

I'm 5'8" with a 32" waist and can barely pull the 501's up to my waist much less fasten them and sit in them (and these are NOT the Shrink-to-Fit 501's).

Since the 501's are the only cream-colored jeans Levi makes that I can find readily, if the 306 STA-PRESTs are like the 501's in fit, I should probably look for look-a-likes instead of the original 306.

Also are the 306's button fly or zipper fly? And do they come in a distressed look with a lot of grinding or frayed fabric?

Danjaq, the 306's are roomier in seat and thighs, but narrower at the ankle. Zip fly, definately no fraying, in fact, they look pretty sharp. They are a totally diferent cut to the 501. I am similar size to you and agree the 501's are not too comfortable on me. The 306's come up a size larger as has been documented, but 32's on me are loose at the waist, but a good comfortable fit elsewhere.

I've found a great alternative to the Sta-Prest jeans in Zara, great fit and they aren't made of pure denim which is a plus. I'll post some pics of my Port-au-Prince get up during the weekend.

Good outfit mate, what brand is the polo shirt?

The polo shirt is made by a local brand, got them for about 5USD. Pants were from Zara, got them for about 40USD. Shoes were from GEOX, their chukkas look great and are comfortable and durable as hell (got mine wet during one rainy morning while picking up some stuff for a friend. they were soaking wet that day and after it dried up, a couple of brushes with a shoe brush and it's good as new). and lastly the sunglasses are of course the TF 108s. Like what mantis said, these are the ones to invest inyhour Bond wardrobe collection.

    Thanks :007)

I have a pair of Oliver Peoples Airman sunglasses on order, an optician told me the lenses are glass and polarised.

They said they're superior to the quality of the plastic Tom Ford version and protect your eyes as they should do.
